I'm 28 years old, born in '94. This movie is in my top ten favorites of ALL TIME. 90% of hollywood movies from my lifetime, especially after the 90's are corrupted and degraded by an obsession with appeasing certain political affiliations. The Cowboys, preceding that corruption, has such a special place in my heart. It shows the world as it really is instead of the world as one delusionally wishes it to be. It is a movie every man should watch.
I agree, every man…..wouldn’t do no good to remake this movie or add to it, it’s one of kind. The best John Wayne film and in my opinion the best movie!
This is the first movie I ever watched with my Grandpa (and sat all the way through....30 years later, this is the first movie my son sat all the way through, watching it with me. Thanks for the behind the scenes look. LONG LIVE THE COWBOYS!!
I are like you, fond memories of seeing it for the first time! Saw it with my dad when I was 14. Dad was a cattleman and I was one of his hands. I trained roping horses, worked cattle, built fence, bailed hay, . I so thankful for that upbringing. Long live my dad's memory and Duke's.
In my opinion this is JWs best ever movie. 💕 I am a total fan and have been all my life..but for me, this one is his ultimate, each and every member of the cast perfect..can't tell you how many times I watched it.
This was such a great western. I remember seeing it when it came out and it took me a long time to watch Bruce Dern in anything. I realized that he truly was a great actor.
Bruce is a brilliant actor, specialist at being the bad guy, but more than capable of playing the good..I loved is portrayal of Freeman Lowell in silent running. The Cowboys is such a great movie.
Hands down this movie is in my top 3 of my John Wayne movies: the other 2 being El Dorado & True Grit. I can’t believe how little Clay O’Brien Cooper was. Incidentally Clay would become a 5 or 6 time PRCA World Champion Team Roper ( Heeler) with Jake Barnes. One of the most dominant roping teams of the late 80’s & early 90’s. Fast forward to 2022 and I was in Las Vegas for the WNFR and most of the kids ( now men) were doing an autograph session at cowboy Christmas in the convention center. I wish I would’ve jumped in that long line for a photo op or autograph. My hats off to everyone involved in the making of this movie.
Thanks. My folks drove me 40 miles to see this movie. I wanted to see all the kids in the movie because of the teen magazine hype. This is my second favorite movie of John Wayne.
I’ve always enjoyed films in which John Williams participated in , such as Jaws (being my favorite) and I HAD to check out this one. I only just recently watched it , and enjoyed it! Very interesting film.
Love it! Thank you so much for posting this. I love this movie so well I ended up buying it and I never get tired of watching it for the great acting great cinematography great directing and great everything else in the great lessons that go along with it. One of my top 10 movies.
This is one of the Great Western ! Like Clay O'Brien Cooper I have been riding al my life. I started at 4 and I am now 74 and still riding. Thank you Jesus.
I grew up on an 18,000 acre ranch owned by my dad. It was a great upbringing. The ranch and dad are long gone, and I haven't been on a horse in 15 years. But I'll never forget the day when I was 14 my dad took me to see this wonderful movie.
The movie followed the book quite well. I’d heard that the book’s author was a gay man. I don’t know about that. I do know that the author did a magnificent job of showing how these young boys became young men. The movie is an excellent portrayal of those passages made by the boys. Courtesy of Half Vast Flying
One of my favorite movies of all time!!!
Me too!!😊

One of my favorites. I think John Wayne should have gotten an Oscar. That death scene was a tear jerker.

Apparently Bruce Dern says he still gets hate mail after all these years.

Who is the narrator? It sounds like the same narrator from the beginning of Big Jake.
That narrator is Don LaFontaine, possibly the most iconic voice of all film narrators and trailers.
Always disliked Bruce Dern after this movie.
Bruce Willis two years ago said he still gets hate mail from people about it!
Dude was a great actor and played a great bad guy for the movie
No director in Hollywood could remake this movie without CGI😂
