Born and raised in Jammu, Dr Radhika Chopra is a versatile musician. Having learnt from Smt. Shanti Harinand, the renowned disciple of Begum Akhtar, Chopra mastered classical music and started performing at the All India Radio Jammu. She joined the faculty of music and fine arts in Delhi University from where she completed her MPhil and PhD in Hindustani Classical Music. With performances across the globe, she is most famous for her renditions of the golden voices of yesteryears - Geeta Dutt, Noor Jahan, Jagjit Kaur, Mubarak Begum and of course Begum Akhtar.

What an amazing singer and teacher - I have had the good fortune of hearing her sing face-to-face (roo-baroo). I applaud her explaining that Urdu belongs to India and not to a religion or to Pakistan. She carries the beautiful flame of Ghazal singing and the etiquette around appreciating Ghazals.

رادھیکا جی ۔ ایک عرصہ کے بعد آج کی نسل سے اردو زبان اور شاعری کی اتنی جامع اور بھرپور تفسیر سننے کو ملی۔ آج پہلی بار ایک ایسی شخصیت سے اردو سے والہانہ لگاؤ سماعت سے ٹکرائ جن کی اردو مادری نہیں ہے لیکن کیا مادری زبان کو کسی کونے میں سیاسی طور پر سمیٹا جا سکتی ہے ؟؟؟ ہرگز نہیں ہرگز نہیں ۔ آپ اس حوالے سے ایک منفرد فرد ہیں۔ سلام عقیدت

رادھیکا جی ۔ آپ کی منفرد آواز اور بھرپور طرز گائیکی ایک اپنا ہی سماں باندھتی ہے۔ اک عرصہ کے بعد غزل کی گائیکی میں ایک خوبصورت اظافہ سننے اور دیکھنے کو ملا۔ یقیناُ مادری زبان کسی قسم کی سرحد نہیں رکھتی ۔ یہ تو ایک انتہائ خوبصورت آئینے کی مانند ہے جس سے انسانی گروہ بندیوں کی تکرار دم توڑ دیتی ہیں اور انسان انسان سے جاملتا ہے۔ آپ کے اس سفر میں استقامت بڑی امید کی کرن کی حیثیت رکھتا ہے۔

Aap ka ‘master class’ program dekha , Masha ‘allah urdu zaban oar aapka itna uboor aur itni shaaistigi aur aap ka Andaze bayan, dil ko choo gaya .
Urdu zaban ke liye ek behtreen tohfa hai.
Bohot hi adab ke saanth ek guzarish hai ke aapne jab “Muqarar” irshad farmaya to yahan ye “Mukarar” hona chahiye tha. Mukarra ke meaning hen “ takrar” karna. Means “repeat it”

I agree with you Madam. I am from Tamil Nadu. I enjoy ghazals only because of late Jagjit singh ji ke voice muje attract Kiya. Badme Hindi songs like Kiya. Usse Urdu like karne laga. I know very few Urdu words. Enjoy a lot listening Urdu mix songs

My mother tounge is urdu from Lucknow I am so proud I l lived in London people straight way say are you from Lucknow amazing I speak perfect one my uncle was poet of Aag,,Anokha pyar, ladli,ada and so many films Behzad Lukhnavi naam tha unke he passed away few years ago RIP Ameen

@@mking7325 Besides being a bengali I am a hard-core fan of the language called "URDU". Whenever I get chance to learn anything about this language I just jump and grab that opportunity. To me this language is one of the sweetest languages of the world.

Over the years, Radhika Sahiba has improved tremendously. Jan Nissar Akhtar had written 60 antras for a song " E dil-e-nadaN, aarzu kaya hai, justju kaya hai" (Film Razia Sultan). Khayyam Saheb selected only three antras. Firaq Gorakhpuri had written a few ghazals comprising of 30 or 36 couplets. Dr. Surender Bhutani Warsaw (Poland)

I am a big fan of Radika Chopra.Certain expression can not be expressed in English language. I love urdu and I learnt reading urdu to some extent.Radhika ji has good understanding of urdu language. This is the spaciality in her sin Gazal singing with right pronciation and depth of the Gazal.
To admire this language is now outdated & people are hesitating to appreciate such a beautiful & sweet language, as it belongs to a particular community. But it's not the Truth. Let me say on this Public platform that this language is Sweet 🍬language, full of Respect & depth. Let's not get deprived of one of the Sophisticated & dignified Language. Let's revive it. Learn it, Use it; it's our Language, it's INDIAN🇮🇳 LANGUAGE. It's " URDU ". Mera Bharat Mahaan.

@radhikachopra7024 Bohot hi beshkeemti video hai.... Ek ek lafz bayaan karta hai ke gazal kitni khubsoort hoti hai. Jis tarha se aapne iske pehluon ko samjaya hai... Kaabil e tareef hai. I have been listening to gazals for last 25 - 30 years and could relate to so many things you said and learnt so many other things, a big thankyou to you for being so generous about sharing your knowledge with us. I was delighted when you shared the example of dil dhoondta hai song by gulzar sahab, coz i knew that punctuation that was originally in the song. Simply brilliant 👌👌🙏
