This glitch was always fun to play around with back in the day. I remember it also being possible in FE7, but under much more restricted conditions. Also, I used to always use it to turn my magic users into universal archmages. By choosing upgrade paths that allowed the mage to use both light, anima, and staves, dark would be the only remaining option. Then I would give them stone and they would gain a dark rank.
