My son just started this training and as a mother I'm horrified but at the same time he volunteered for this, so I have to live with it and I pray to God that he gets through it and has the strength to endure everything that's coming to him.

For those who may be wondering about the 1Z4X1 (Special Reconnaissance) physical requirements for graduation standards, they are:
Minimum 12 pull-ups in 2 minutes
Minimum 75 sit-ups in 2 minutes
Minimum 64 push-ups in 2 minutes
5 mile run in 36:32 (7:18/mile pace)
1500m swim in 32:00
15 mile ruck in 300 minutes (20:00/mile pace w/ 75lb. ruck)

- 8 pull-ups in 1 minute
- 50 sit-ups in 1 minute
- 45 push-ups in 1 minute
- 1.5 mile run in 11:05 (7:25 mile pace)
- 12 mile ruck in 240 minutes (20:00 mile with 45 lb. rucksack)
This info is just the bare minimum to graduate the course. I have friends who have said that at grad standards the cadre loaded up almost all of them with close to 100lbs. of gear. Expect more than 45lbs. but obviously, start training for a month or so with 10-15lbs. since most people don't ruck.
Also, if people think rucking is as easy as walking around with a backpack just like at school, look up how to do it properly. Oh, and walk long distances, not just to and from classrooms that are less than two miles from each other.
A dear friend of mine was a CCT. Incredible to get a tiny glimpse into what he accomplished long before his time overseas.
My heart is leading me toward Special Warfare, but I have the biggest fear of drowning. I know I can do it though
Just so you're aware, Ive been told they purposely drown you and bring you back in dive school, and they waterboard you in SERE

2 weeks after I took my asvab and scored a 93, my recruiter told me I had a job and that I was leaving in 3 months. A week after that, I was texted by a special forces recruiter saying I was a candidate for their special forces training. I was stoked. I scheduled a past test and scored higher than every other kid who had been training for months. I’m now a PJ and have saved many airman’s lives and I couldn’t be more proud of it.
I’m kidding I failed my past test and now I work with wrenches and screw drivers because I admitted to drug abuse prior to enlistment
Admitting prior drug use doesn't keep you from getting in. But lying about it and them finding out gets you a discharge.

I have gone through this training. It is not that you can do it on their time frame or their expectations. It is that you wont stop till its' done.....period. You show effort, you show strength and you show you wont quit you will get in............

The Air Force Softbook Program allows traditional High School Juniors to reserve a job in selected careers. This program normally runs from 1 April through 30 Sep. of your junior year. You have to be 17 or older. If 17 you must have parental consent. You will be entered into the Delay Enlisted Program, however you will not attend Basic Military Training until you have received your High School Diploma. Applicants must meet the normal enlistment qualifications.

It’s talking about all of them they all have diving courses, except for TACP’s, if it’s a CCT, PJ, or SR then you’re gonna dive if it’s all 4 you’re going to suffer in selection either way so if you’re interested get fit and get mentally prepared to suffer and to not quit regardless of how tired, how much pain you’re experiencing, and how bad you wanna quit

This is something I want to become, but too bad I have hearing issues
Man, I'm unable to get SWT, the brotherhood, or to be a part of a team that ALWAYS strives to win or the standard of being the very best out of my head. If only I could get that opportunity. Sure, it's cool and all but phrases like integrity first, service before self, and excellence in all we do hold so much more meaning and reaching those goals as a unit make those phrases have more meaning and that belonging to something bigger than you or the individual. You can't go wrong.
I can do everything above and beyond for the PAST test but swim. I got a YMCA membership and I’ve been in the water. I’m just frustrated I’m not fast enough and I don’t know how to teach myself. I only have so much money I can’t get a teacher. What did you guys do to learn to swim fast?
I'm thinking (and hoping) that in the training before candidate selection, they give you swim time training too. Because before the candidate selection process, there is BMT and then SWCC (Special warfare candidate course) I would assume you would get swim training in SWCC but I'm not 100% sure.

I can't decide between this or SEALS, and if I choose this one It's either CCT or PJ, so many different choices.
$50,000 bonus for PJs, TACPs, and CCTs right now, SEALs have no bonus currently. Just food for thought, all are great jobs.
If you want to do this just for bragging rights, youre not going to make it.

yeah, they quit permanently. the reason they show him is to motivate whoever is watching and depict how you feel after you quit. almost like quitting ain’t worth it.
The beautiful thing about quitting is they cant make you. Always seen guys ring it, never made sense.

@@xWE4PONS If you are not holding up to the standard or even trying to exceed then yes they can fail you and throw you out. I’ve 350+ pounds I have the body of a d-linemen in the nfl. I have to drop that weight which I will and learn how to improve my swimming cause it’s not that good. They can fail you and kick you out so make sure you are on your stuff. Once you make it bro be good try your best talk to a special warfare recruiter in your area to get you in contact with a special force career person so see what their day in the life was like and etc... mine is I want to be a Special Recon. So yeah

TO QUALIFY, YOU MUST:
Be a US citizen or non US citizens must have a valid unrestricted alien registration card from the USCIS with at least 2 years remaining until expiration (You must obtain this status on your own, the Air Force cannot assist you with obtaining it) and you must speak, read and write English fluently. You must live in the United States to apply
You cannot be a Conscientious Objector. A conscientious objector is an individual who has claimed the right to refuse to perform military service on the grounds of freedom of thought, conscience, or religion.
Any Law Violations will need to be evaluated
Any use of illegal drugs or misuse of prescription medication will need to be evaluated
You will also have a credit check run looking for delinquencies and overbalanced credit.
Be between the ages of 17-39. If age 17 you will need parental consent
Be in good health and any medical issues will need to be evaluated. The rule is 5% of our total number of enlistees can be GED holders and non High School Graduates. You must score at least a 50 on the ASVAB test for GED holders and a 65 for non High School Graduates. However, if you obtain 15 semester hours of qualifying college credit you will be processed as a high school graduate. To be qualifying, these credits must be from a fully accredited college or university. The classes must be 100 level (college freshman level) or above.

And I am currently a high school student who is interested in being a special tactics officer. I am a Civil Air Patrol and AFJROTC cadet. I want to know if there is anything ya'll would recommend doing for the mental and water confidence training.

Physical Aptitude Stamina Test (PAST) Requirements:
25m Under-water swim #1
25m Under-water Swim #2
500m Surface Swim (minimum) 12:30 (any swim stroke except for backstroke)
1.5 mile run (minimum times) 10:20
Pull-ups 8 minimum within 2 minutes
Sit-ups 50 minimum within 2 minutes
Push-ups 40 minimum within 2 minutes
Limited rest in between intervals

the swimming is the main problem its mental and you begin to panic exhausting the air you have but it can be overcome with a lot of training before you begin this program.
How can I prepare myself before joining? I currently have my braces for another year and I've already contacted a special warfare recruit, but no responses on the training. I want to be at least fit for the one year I have my braces on. I'd really appreciate a response because I'm also terrified about leaving my family behind, but this is what I want to do, I want to train my body to the highest endurance possible and challenge the mind.
Pre Basic Military Training (BMT) 14 Week Work out plan (please consult your doctor before working out). Recommend being at or close to the BMT PT graduation level before you go to BMT. Because drowning sucks and the water is the great equalizer. Most people quit from the water. Just go to your local pool and practice some of this stuff, then imagine it being 10x faster with people harassing you. Some people crack.

@@Callsign_Prophet it's true, my friend's cousin was SFG and he and his team were medevac'd from a hot zone by USAF PJs. When I asked him about it he said that everyone in the SOF community looked up to PJs as angels.

As a teenage boy I get this advertisement every time I log into RUclips to watch videos about mountain biking. There is nothing in this ad that would make me want to join the Air Force, and the "be the calm" is pretty messed up advertising to try and lure in teenage boys for this kind of BS
