I am the least handy person on the planet... yet, your suggestions worked for me. My shredder is now back up and running after several months of being non-operational. Thanks so much!
Just had to let you know-it WORKED!! I was ready to set it out for my trash!! Thing is, your directions were so very clear. I did have to go to the oil, waited until the next day-that did it. Also, my shredder will not go back and forth-would only do reverse. Still worked! Thank you sooo much!!!
YAY!!!!! This gal knows what to do!!! I used sewing machine oil, down the insertion slot up top, where you would "feed" papers to be shredded. I also dripped the sewing machine oil through the gears from down below. OF COURSE , DID THE ABOVE AFTER UNPLUGGING THE SHREDDER, AS THIS LADY TELLS US. Then, forward, turn off, turn on, forward, turn off, etc. It worked after only 2 cycles of the on/ forward, off, on, forward. (I sent her a tip!)
Thank you. I thought the shredder was ruined because my 4 yr old grandson stuck a whole pile of paper in the shredder. And it smelled like the motor was burning but your method worked. I used shredder oil I already had. Thanks again!!
I regret throwing away my first shredder. I should have watched this video before, I was able to fix my new shredder that was jammed for months. Thank you!
I used a pliers and took away the paper on top, also let it sit to cool for a bit, and I decided to use water instead of oil, worked great, maybe oil would be better though but still softened the paper enough to rip! I had put a booklet of maybe 12 pages and the max was 8! Thanks so much for the video!
Thank you! Totally validated what I was doing (forward and reverse). That, along with your tip about olive oil working for you (since I couldn't find my WD40) was great! Fixed it super quick! You're a gem and a lifesaver!
Thank you so much for making this video. I have had a major paper jam in my shredder at work for the past 2 weeks... I watched your video and within minutes it is working like nothing happened. Thank you so much.
This totally worked for me! Some of the other tutorials I watched recommended using water to soften the paper, but the olive oil really did the trick! Thanks!!
Thank you for this amazing, helpful video. It worked great. I too believed my shredder would need to be discarded. I used the oil to soften the paper, and kept using the reverse and then forward, and used a scissors to stick in there and get some of the paper out. Eventually, it worked. I'd say it took around 10 minutes.
I can't thank you enough. The vegetable oil worked perfectly. I just added it to some of the papers and ran a few through....just like new. Whew...I thought I was going to have to donate to Goodwill for someone else to deal with. Would have been my loss.
Hallelujah! Thank you for the oil tip. I used WD40 and left it for five minutes - then hey presto, back in action. I thought it was on the way to the tip it was such a terrible jam. Happy me again. Best wishes.
Was using pliers already (so I'm proud of myself 😊). Problem is my reverse & feed are both locked up. So ZERO movement until I get all the paper out myself. Gonna try the oil trick but if there's something else to try for a non-moving shredder, would greatly appreciate THAT trick. Thanks!!
Oof sorry to hear that. Keep reducing as much of the jam as you can! Hope the oil softens it really good for you. So that it will unlock the jam both ways or you can get even more out once softened! Good luck!!
Question: I noticed the paper is getting folded while shredding, it probably does not fold down into the bin and therefore it gets stuck. I mean I only put a few papers at a time, frankly I am am thinking of putting this shedder to the side. It gets inevitably stuck after a few shredded papers. Is there something wrong with it, maybe blades are bent or something like that? Is it normal for the paper strips to be folded while shredding?
Yikes, yea it’s possible if you are not getting power or response that it’s dead. Just double check and troubleshoot the power.I always at least get a power light on mine.
I would just like to say: DO NOT USE SILICONE SPRAY. Absent of vegetable oil and WD-40, I tried this as a substitute, not occurring to me it was flammable and it blew the top clean off my shredder. The explosion actually loosened half of the jam for me, but I do not recommend it! LOL
My jam, from over loading basket. Hv decently..cleaned, plucked and pulled the shreds as in the past however, this time, power won’t come on. Would like to take top off to get to the reverse side of crosscut blades but, after removing the 3 screws, it will only pop back half way. Something at back side, near power cord,, is holding it. Didn’t want to force before getting your opinion. ROYAL Crosscut 12 Sheets😊
I’m sorry I have never had to remove the top! So I don’t have any experience to speak from. I have always been able to clear all jams through my process in this video. Good luck! I hope you are able to fix it!
I have a credit card stuck in my shredder. Won’t reverse or go forward. Any suggestions? It’s a thick credit card unfortunately. Can’t see it in the gears below at all.
I had a paper jam just today of 32 no staples and I don't own any tools u said but I ain't spending no god dam 80 bucks for a new shredder when I got one from 2003 I did do reverse I trued evrything and it caught fire just a little bit
Oh my! 😳 that’s a first for me! Sounds deeper than a jam. Having the tools to rip out the paper thins the jam so that the blades aren’t strained too hard.
Has ANYONE else had victory with this? I put in 9 Ppapers instead of 6 like it instructs. Paper Jam on a new machine. Wish me luck ESPECIALLY because it’s new.
My shredder accepts credit cards and now it is stuck. I've tried everything. It wont even turn back on and move at all. Help? Im I forced to buy a new one? lol
Dang sorry to hear that. I’ve never had a stuck credit card before! By any chance are you able to slide in a piece of paper around it to engage the gears at all?
Yes! Actually yesterday i got a little jam while shredding at a clients and didn’t have pliers with me. But because I have done this so many times I used my fingers and box cutter only. (Making sure it’s turned off) I pulled and ripped underneath with my fingers.( had it been a bigger jam I may have not been able to do so without pliers) it depends on how much paper is exposed underneath. I kept slicing any exposed paper at the top. I kept reversing only. It would not budge forward/down. Took me 5-10 minutes to unjam it!
I am the least handy person on the planet... yet, your suggestions worked for me. My shredder is now back up and running after several months of being non-operational. Thanks so much!

Saved my life - just jammed up a new shredder. Much thanks!
Hooray! So glad to hear! I appreciate the comment and feedback 🙌🏻🙏
Olive Oil worked for me. So thankful to find this video today and was able to fix a serious jam! ❤
I’m so happy you got it working!
Totally worked, thank you! Was wondering if I was going to have to throw away my shredder and had to use avocado oil but all good now.
Way to go! Glad to hear it. 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
Thank YOU!! Just got rid of my jam and saved my paper shredder!!

If you get desperate some have mentioned water but…that’s if your about to throw the shredder away. Water and metal gears are not ideal! 😏😉
Sooo help thank you so much. The pliers and the oil did help.
Wonderful! So glad to hear that! 🙌🏻🥳👏🏻
Thanks so much. Your direction worked perfectly. ❤
Wonderful!
omg it really worked thank you so much savior !!!!!!!!! what a queen
Glad it helped! 👏🏻
So helpful - thanks!
Thank you for the ideas!!! The olive oil really did the trick!!

Interesting! Sorry, I have never experienced that.
I did get all of the paper out, but the shredder doesn’t come on in auto or reverse. Is it dead?

If you try to feed anything else into the shredder does it respond?

I tried using fire to burn the paper, but it still didn't work -sigh--
Oh dang sorry to hear that!
😢
Olive oil will be sticky after time.
Use also a machine oil (for examplr for sewing machines)..
Hmm interesting. I’ve had a shredder that I’ve done this with for over a decade….so I’m not seeing those “sticky” issues
Has ANYONE else had victory with this? I put in 9 Ppapers instead of 6 like it instructs. Paper Jam on a new machine. Wish me luck ESPECIALLY because it’s new.
You got this! I do this same method for every jam!
@@iOrganizeEverything omg. it worked!! I thought my new shredder was a goner. Thank you for the detailed video!
@@DiamondCoco7 I appreciate you coming back to let me know! Hooray!
Oil did NOT work for me. It packed the paper even tighter 😮
It took about 90 minutes to work it out.
That’s a first. Sorry to hear that
I unscrewed the lid & ran it under the sink after trying everything else!
Wow! Ran it under the sink?! How did that go?
