#482Visa #RegionalMigration #EmployerSponsored
The main difference among 482 and 494 is that for PR under 482 your employer needs to nominate you again, in stark contrast to 494 you don’t need another nomination anymore.
And + visa delays
Not needing sponsorship again is probably the only advantage 494 has compared to 482 if the job is located in regional Australia.
The most baffling thing is the lack of policy direction, last financial year it was all about regional, this financial year is all about employer sponsorship. How do they expect people to plan ahead this way.
True
Hi Karl, thanks for another amazing video. Skills assessment removed from the 482 is it for sure something will happen soon or not? A good friend of mine is about to apply for his skills assessment to proceed with 482 labour agreement petition. Will be better to wait a couple of days and recheck the immigration website before paying for a document maybe will not be necessary anymore? 🤔
The current law no need already
There we go, the support to regional Australia only exist in empty word and nothing else.
Meanwhile people complain how full Sydney Melbourne and Brisbane has already been.
It’s like someone complaining about slow internet in their house but refuse to pay more for higher internet speed.
You have missed the point of the new changes. There is a pathway to PR.
@@paulo3245you have missed the point of my post. Providing a new pathway to PR doesn’t really address the issue of regional area struggle to develop. Funding is required to push the development and people coming to regional Australia.
Hi karl. Any chance of them reducing the eligibility for 191 visa from 3 years to 2 years? That will benefit both 494 and 491 visa holders
Maybe
Well. The regional employers will be offering 482 visa like any other employers from big cities. I am currently looking for sponsorship nd I can tell you it's still struggle unless you are EN or RN.
Lol I tried to contact 40 nursing homes last month and they said they dont sponsor. Very strange because I thought there was a skill shortage. They told me its too expensive to sponsor.
What is EN and RN?
@@MelonLemon007 Enrolled and Registered Nurse
And then they complaint to government that they cannot find ppl 🐷
@@ChannelAMEC Yep. The same as DAMA. I've contacted so many disability and aged care companies from DAMA approved sponsors and not a single one of them is sponsoring. Why are they still on the list?
Just as they cut the wait time for the 482 do you think they will cut the wait time for 491?
I have been waiting for a 491 visa since Nov 2022 for Database and Administrator. But my friend got a visa last week with the same points and applied in the same week.
Whatever visas waiting time for grant of visas takes years in Australia
Not just visa, perhaps every other things too… lol
It is best to tell the truth when presenting. Tell me the period where no skills assessment was required for regional visa PR?
😂 I’m now doubting this guy’s news
Hey Paulo, chill out. It is true. I have been following the Migration Australia website for more than a decade. 2011 no skills assessment was required for regional visas available at that time, at least for me, at that time under my occupation I had a direct entry PR pathway. Nowadays, in my occupation is mandatory to have a skills assessment, and extremely difficult to fulfill the requirement for entry PR visas, even when in my industry there is a lack of workers.😅
Thanks for sharing your insights Carl. Nice video and I learned a lot from your channel. Keep it up!
Thanks for your wonderful comment
With the 494 having no path to PR will this affect the DAMA areas that have PR pathways ?
No
Hi ,do you think they should reduce 3 year to 1 or 2 year for pr eligibility for 491 and 494 visa holders, to keep people interested to go regional area
Yeah they should…. Else it is a dead end
Hi Carl, thanks for the info. I do have an exisitng EOI lodgement for Visa 491 in South Australia, with PTE score of proficient, and nominated occupation ICT Support Engineer. I submitted my EOI last Sept. What do you think are my chances of getting an invitation this year or next year? Any advice to make my application stronger?
Chance is good, it’s just timing
@@ChannelAMEC Thanks Carl! All the best! Cheers
I am glad this guy is not processing any of my visas. His interpretation of the information is demonstrating limited understanding of the regulations. Costing for 494 is comparable or cheaper than 482 especially if you have a parter and/or family. The cost to PR after the 3 years is low. The cost to go to 482 then 186 is full cost for both. So more expensive for the applicants.
Thanks for your wonderful comment
I think you are narrowing the idea too much to your own situation. For many people who can choose between both visas, of course, considering the cost is important. But in this case, Karl is giving an overview of the new changes and how will impact the regional visa. It is well-know in urban areas a professional will be paid better than in a regional area. So the visa pathway could be more expensive, but the potential earnings of the candidate should be higher. A tailored plan of action is why we paid an immigration advisor. And a good immigration advisor should bring that up in the conversation.
I am a registered migration agent. Not a visa applicant and have been practicing for more than 15 years.
I am fully conversant with all the visas and the benefits of them. My comments are accurate

Yes, it doesn’t make sense to get 494 visa. Why do you have to move to Albury-Wodonga when you can live in Melbourne? Hahaha!
494 is for 45 years old people
No, people must be under 45 years of age.
