  • This was a hard video to make. I made a mistake using Flatworm Exit and killed my tang. Learn from my mistake and make sure to use FRESH carbon. I gotta keep it real and show my successes and failures. I hope this helps others.

    It is important to see failures. We learn from mistakes. I hate guys that boast all their successes and they hide all of their failures. Many thanks for this video.

      No problem! Thank you for the encouragement. I get flamed by people when I fail. But.... showing people success doesn't help them as much as showing them your failures. I hope others can learn from my mistakes so they don't have to deal with what I've gone through. Thank you soo much!

      Thats for sure! There are a lot of ups and downs in this hobby. Gotta show it all to let people know they aren't alone when they mess up. I make my fair share of mistakes

    I’ve been siphoning them out, I just started to dip corals. I have a shit load of them, what I’ve seen people say to do is siphon out the worms when you see them float “you didn’t have many so you probably couldn’t see them”
    I plan on adding a but load of new carbon in a hob filter for when they die

    Thank you for taking the time to help other people. I just want to say that I saw all my fish died one by one when I put old carbon that dried up for few days. I learn the hard way that the carbon once dried up will release all the toxic compounds filtered before. I transfered my fish in another tank but the dammage was already done. They all show signs of intense breathing, like their gills were unable to do the job anymore. This is very lethal, the died in just few minutes.
    I hope this makes sense to you, always put new carbon!
    Good luck with the bloody worms, I also need to do a treatment but there is only few of them for now, hopfully all will go well...

    A snow globe! Tis the season. 😁. I’m not a fish disease expert, but my first hint that it may have been an intestinal parasite since the stomach was extended and it was emaciated. Sorry for the loss. It sucks to loose a fish.

    • @shallowreefing
      @shallowreefing  2 года назад

      Yep. Just at a cost. Use fresh carbon and I would aerate if I don't have a skimmer on the tank.

      @@shallowreefing I just set up a little zoa nano, and who would have guessed-- there are flatworms on the live rock I bought from the "random live rock bin" at the lfs. No fish in there yet. Just like 10 kinds of zoas that I shamelessly put in within an hour of setting up the tank.

    I Tried to save a hermit crab infected with some sort of flatworms by getting the hermit out of its shell and physically removing all flukes attached to the crabs body. The hermit crab was fine in a small container with calcium powder sand for 2 days, but 2 hours I put it in the main tank I find the crab with its guts busted open and flatworms all over the tank... I feel you pain man.

      It was deep that you threw him into the toilet while still alive, common sense would tell you dying slowly in saltwater is better then being thrown into cold fresh water filmed for a moment then flushed, it'd be more humane to throw a brick or slab on it. I was in shock when seeing it in the toilet, probably due to the shock he had more motion in the toilet then your tank.smh
