@@RANDOMFIX Home use, just finished coding my new rear EDC shocks and my left driver side headlight TMS control module with ease. It was fast and powerful. No need to be connected to WiFi to be coding unless you need special online coding for major modules/etc... Was able to re-establish some module code errors and got fixed with the Phoenix Plus. My BMW is now error free and was driving it for an hour to make sure everything was good and it didn't disappoint! Worth the $775 total I paid for it 😁
@@RANDOMFIX no That’s why I went with the 800 BT Has 28 special functions But it’s not bi directional But it does have free lifetime updates So it cost me 375 Free lifetime updates It has 16 gigs but once you update it you have about 500 megs of memory left I deleted the cars ( mostly Chinese ) that I will never use and freed up 7 gigs Nice thing is you never lose them so if I did ever need them in the future you just download them It reads all the modules So for about a third of the price and no yearly subscriptions it’s a nice kit You can do a lot with this It’s a great mid level scanner Comparable ones with this have a subscription so I went with this Used it on 4 cars so far and no problems It’s also pretty quick and comes with a web browser camera and video recorder And also you can read live data. I think for a home owner DIY type person this is the one to get.

Can you look at live data while commanding functions? such as egr, evap. I borrowed a friends X tool D8 and at first I was very impressed but then I tried it on my 2003 Chevy impala and tried to do an evap purge seal test and you see nothing! No data at all completely useless, in that respect. That’s my opinion. you have to be able to see live data to see how the car behaves when commanding functions.

Hello, my brother. I bought the Launch Pro 5 with internet connection support and the J2534 feature. The price of the device is approximately 800 dollars.. I am now looking for a better device, and I think I will change the company to Autel
550, yes after the first 2 years. This is really a professional grand tool that should be used to generate income probably overkill for a diy weekend mechanic!
Can it disable the Annoying Famous Start/Stop on GM cars and the Garbage DOD / AFM that destroys the lifters on the suburbans .?? They told me it does..
@RANDOMFIX no offense but if you don't know for sure don't even answer the question the scan tool isn't cheap....but my question was answered the correct way and a video demonstrating that it does operate purge solenoid and vent valve
No offense taken but it does supply the information you are looking but th only way to be sure is email the vendor like you mentioned, send them your vin and ask for a list of supported features. Good luck 🍀👍
@@RANDOMFIX I ended up calling them and was told that the Phoenix Plus will support CAN-FD using the adapter. That's an added cost of $119, but you get CAN-FD with it. It does bring up another question. If you hook up the Phoenix Plus or any Scan tool that doesn't support CAN-FD, but the vehicle does. What happens? Does the vehicle fallback to CAN 2.0 or does the scanner just not work with that vehicle? BTW, I was told that Phoenix Plus possibly might be going the way of the Doodo bird. I asked why it wasn't listed on their website and was told they didn't know if they were getting any more units in. Was told they would keep supporting it for the known future. It didn't sound like they had any official word as to if this was just a stock issue or this model was actually discontinued. They could only tell me the didn't have any stock and didn't have any estimate as to when or if they would be available down the road directly from them.
Any video reviews on the Topdon Plus vs Lauch X431 Pro vs Autel MK906 within the $1,200 range cant find any comparing to find the best bang for the buck to work best on GM and Chevrolet, Ford Etc..?
@@kingyankee69 The MK908 & MK 808 are sold as a global machine they don’t support can FD for GM, no auto auth for Chrysler- they are terrible for the USA. Those 2 anyway the 909/919/ultra etc are excellent the MS models are USA models
These are running from 800 to 1500 but there are better options now as these units are older. Let me know if you need any recommendations for some of the less expensive units.

The Phoenix plus more closely relates to the Thinktool ProS at about a thousand dollars. There's a new Thinktool Pad 10 on the global market that is going after the Phoenix Elite. You can find it for around a thousand. From the hype, a little better than the plus, but not quite the Elite.
sorry but after 5 mins of a hand continually spoiling the view I have left. Maybe a pointer would be better. It gets really really distracting, I'm trying to look at the screen and to be honest it's a shame.

TopDon made by launch. Same as launch in every single way. That being said, their scanners suck just like launch stuff. Misses codes, slow data streams, misses modules completely. But for 1k it is not too bad. Autel much better at everything.
@@RANDOMFIX That is exactly the problem. Not sure autel has anything at that price point that does what the launch does. Honestly, having them both is worth it. I have every single dealer scanner and still grab autel and launch for quick access to stuff I know works for what I need it to do. For best all around tool I would get an autel elite or something around 2k that comes with 2 years of updates. But at 800 - 1k, Topdon, Launch, thinkdiag (all are made by launch) are almost impossible to beat. But they have drawbacks like every single scanner ever made. Best bang for the buck by far is going with Diagzone. Get a compatible dongle and its 100 for a year and never quits working. Works on android. Same exact thing as new Topdon or Launch or Thinkdiag. Even uses same exact topology. The other bonus with Autel would be it has a j2534 vci and you can use that with the oem dealer stuff.
Thanks for sharing. And I 100% agree that there is no tool under 2k that does everything however maybe 85% is covered. But this $540 per fee for updates is also crazy. Last I had an autel it was $250 a year this was back in 2014-2016.

Snap on has spent decades boning us for updates with insane prices and for years we all paid them. The Chinese figured this out and have gone the same route. Have to look at these thing like something you buy and hopefully get 2 years of updates. Then sell it and get a new one with another 2 years of updates.
I hear that or someone needs to start hacking the updates. Trust me there is someone that has done this. I got a Mucar vo6 and the vendor sent it fully unlocked so I gave support for life or until tool is useless.

It will still work even if the updates stop.

I would go with the elite version. Email the vendor before you but and I think thinkcar has a HD version that is great for HD diesel trucks.

You have to buy an additional product for that. You would be better off buying a simple 150 amp load tester for testing the battery and alternator.

Don't forget to tell people, if you don't continue the upgrades, you lose bi directional features and this bocomes a 200 dollar scanner.
