Having purchased this monitor the connectivity is great compared to many alternatives that offer a single USB C port (no HDMI option) that sends a Video signal (not all do). However the downside for me is the colours, which compared to my ASUS Zenscreen (Paid £20 more for that) look more washed. The stand is brilliant, so as a cheap portable monitor it's decent.
Can you play the Switch on it too? I was thinking of getting one for my work laptop, but it'd be handy for the switch as well. Although, I'd probably need to use the Switch Dock and a HDMI to Mini HDMI cable right? Noticed you had one on the desk there and wondered if you'd tried it out.
I haven’t tried! I would assume yes but I haven’t tried. It has 2 usb c ports and the mini hdmi so if you used the dock and plugged it into it I’d assume yes but I don’t use the switch enough to know sorry!

Can you please clarify, can you connect the screen to a laptop just by the HDMI to Mini HDMI and have the USB C power come from a separate power socket (via an adapter plug)? Would that work as currently using my USB C DP port to run another monitor.

I JUST bought one because of this video and have some questions.. 1. I purchased this to play poker on the road. I need a 2 screen set up to run 8 tables in total with 4 or each screen. If I use the USB c cable it just comes up as the same screen on both my laptop and the msi. If I plug the mini hdmi in at same time it automatically gives me 2 SEPARATE screens which I do need. So i have to use mini hdmi to get a second SEPARATE screen? Or am i doing something wrong? 2. My laptop has better sound and is there a way i can use my laptop as the speakers instead of the MSI. I'm not very good with tech Thanks!😂
@@supremeleaderarmy9164 The audio part should be easily sorted by clicking on the little speaker on your Taskbar (if using Windows) and selecting the laptop as the preferred output. If using Windows 10 or 11, I would first try right clicking on your blank desktop screen and choose the DISPLAY SETTINGS option. On that screen you can select what image each monitor shows. I suspect you need to swap your Monitor powered by the USB C to the EXTEND DESKTOP TO THIS DISPLAY option rather than duplicate the main screen option. That option menu will also allows you to position each monitor left or right of your main screen. Or howevert you choose. You can use the Identify option to flash a number on the screen of each monitor so you know which is which.
Hi, thanks for this very informative video. On the MSI site it says the USB-C ports are also for power-output. So it seems like it can do power-passthrough. Do you know if you could charge your phone if you connect a power supply to one of the USB-C ports, and the phone to the other one?
@@blu37hund3r I quickly plugged a power bank into the monitor and then my phone in, the phone did start to charge but I had no monitor connected as couldn’t find the other cable but looks like pass through charging did work

I wish I'd seen this a week ago. I got a Lenovo M15 for Christmas, and it doesn't work on either of my laptops as they don't have lightning usb-c ports. My work laptop is only 11 months old, and as the guy in JBHIFI said, "You're not plugging it into a potato," so it should work. Nothing worked though, so I returned it and ordered this instead. Fingers crossed for a better result.
@Cricketkage hi there, msi do a monitor with speakers ,plug and play. Lenovo has a special hand shake lock with limited high end win 11 busness laptops. They look great but are a bush pig because of the nasty compatability issue. Msi all the way Andrew New Zealand
Hey, I am not able to connect the msi portable monitor with my phone. I have nothing 2 I am able to project my laptop. Is there anything else need to be installed/done to project mobile screen

@@thedeveloperadam yeah that's wired, I just get it delivered today itself. I have tried a diff c type cable, the laptop is working fine, there is something I am missing to connect the mobile.
This product comes with lots of packaging and having bought one I know why. It's not durable. It's portable but if you put in your back pack for meetings on a daily basis it lasted 6 weeks with absolutely no scratches and they don't provide any warranty on screens. I have since bought the Viewsonic VG1655 and it's bullet proof.

The problem with these portable displays is that they are too expensive for what they do. Asus models are twice the price and not better. If you want to use a 15 inch display as a viewfinder like you said, it means 99% of the time you'll be in a studio, so why not buy a cheaper monitor which has 99% sRGB, not 53% like the MSI. There are led projectors at the same price with 65% sRGB and hdr in portable form factor. There are 11 inch tablets at the same price and 99% sRGB
I’m literally just traveling and needing an external monitor for my coding labs, I bought one off amazon but I tend not to buy an electronics off amazon bc I don’t necessarily trust that they don’t contains viruses or some type of ransomware underneath

Since you mention cloud gaming 8:59 does this work with 5g phones with mouse and keyboard on some mouse keyboarded supported games on geforce now?
