You're lucky to have a great local store like that with so many products. I've never been able to find any sort of humate/humic/fulvic products locally. Man, that store has all the pro products I like! That Bifen I/T is my go-to for insects. Heck, I only had 1 choice for a granular pre-emergent in all the stores in a 30 mile radius this year, so I order everything online. I have a high pH AND high calcium, so I am now looking for a way to lower pH without using a calcium product or gypsum. I would go crazy in a store like that, my bank account would be crying.
We are pretty lucky. However I find the online prices are commonly better and you can find some quality products online you won't find in the big box stores.

Hi Ginja - thank you for this interesting video. I am trying to target some morning glory in my lawn (Colorado front range). I have been unsuccessful with two applications of Bayer All-In-One (2,4D). Here you recommend the Image (Sulfentriazone and Quinclorac). My reading else where suggests I should try a product with Triclopyr. If I have been unsuccessful with 2,4D would you suggest I try a Quinclorac or Triclopyr based product next? Many thanks, Matt.

I am going to need to do some aggressive overseeding. What grass blends do you recommend me seeding with? When is best?
I would start overseeding as the daytime and night time temps come down in August. There are lots of varieties out there. You need to decide if overall health is best or if you're fixated on color or a combination of both. For our area I always recommend Kentucky Bluegrass. However, with necrotic ring spot on the rise, lawn fungus, Tall fescue is a great option. It's just not as thick as Kentucky Bluegrass. If you're overseeding an established lawn chances are it's blue grass. I've really like the Barenbrug Turf Blue HGT. If you want to dive down the rabbit hole checkout NTEP.org

Late to the party here, loved this video. Next would be awesome to do the big box store edition, like Home Depot. I don’t have any awesome fertilizer stores in my area, and domyown and amazon mark up revive and other products.
I bought "Image" at IFA last year and it kills morning glory better than 2,4D. However it kills the lawn too when mixed and applied according to the label. Ideas?
It's just sulfentrazone and quinclorac. Sulfentrazone commonly shouldn't be sprayed above 85 degrees. Other than that it all comes down to application rate.
Hey Ginja ... another awesome video buddy. Damn I wish we would have all these options available to us here in Canada 🇨🇦. We don’t have access to the better insecticide and pesticide products in the big stores line you guys have. Although we can bring across the border any fertilizer for the lawn and garden but insecticides and pesticides are not allowed ... 🙁.
Great video! Like yourself, I live in Utah. What are your thoughts on using IFA's 5 step fertilizer program, or similar programs offered by similar stores?
The issue I have is the primary fertilizer ingredient they use is urea and it was never made as a primary but to supplement ammonia based nitrogen sources.
Ginga, you’re my last hope. I have a centipede lawn that has a decent amount of dallisgrass. I can’t use Quinclorac, MSMA, or 24D on it because of the Centipede grass. I used Tenacity and the dallisgrass turns white after about 5 days, but every time I cut the grass (once a week) it basically cuts the white parts off and the dallisgrass survives. I do use nonionic surfactant as well. I don’t know what else to try. Even with follow up applications. It hurts it but won’t kill it and I can’t just let my lawn continue growing for 2 weeks or more without cutting it. Please help!
Dallisgrass is a booger. I have no direct hands on experience with centipede grass. With that said the last I checked I didnt see dallisgrass on the tenacity label. I have heard rumors some individuals were getting some results using tenacity. I've found a few mentions of a post hermegent for dallisgrass safe for centipede as mentioned in the link I'll post below. www.walterreeves.com/gardening-q-and-a/dallisgrass-control-in-centipede-lawn/
@@pestandlawnginja Thanks for the advice! I've been trying to figure out a way to still treat weeds during the summer months. My lawn is a nice dark green but has some clover and spurge issues.
Hi Lawn Ginja master, I'm here in cottonwood heights. I have a weed problem which I think is a Field Bindweed. I can weed them out with hard labour. But these little buggers come back faster than I can manage. Any suggestions on a product for this little vine? Thanks.
Yes. Go to domyown and do a search for dallisgrass. They have some good options. Be sure to look on the label for your grass type to make sure the chemical is compatible before purchasing.
Clover has taken over my lawn to the point where i have almost no grass left. Its very embarrassing and i really have no idea where to start lol. It almost feels like i need to dig up my entire lawn and restart. I also have a bunch of moss! 😭
It all starts with water. Get your water dialed in. Next step is to get a soil sample. chances are your calcium rates are all outta wack. Third would be an herbicide and fertilizer treatment to get it under control. Commonly moss has to do with too much water or too much shade and compaction
@@pestandlawnginja I would guess its too much water. Im in England, so naturally it rains almost everyday lol. Im just gonna keep watching your vids along with some good old fashioned google research and get to fixin it. Thanks for the reply btw.
You trying to get me in trouble? Hahaha. Milo is low in nitrogen high in phosphorus, ifa has a broad spectrum of fertilizers, carbon x is a really well dialed in macro based fertilizer with humates.
@@pestandlawnginja I'm surprised that Tanacity was not mentioned. Is it because of it being too hot and potentially becoming volatile...... Meaning outgas and drift? Plus it's expensive$$$?
Ginja- Great video brutha! Loved how IFA was kind enough to spend time with you. I haven't bought fert from them for many years but they sell good stuff. Could you go over the Urea info in a little more detail? How you lose some of it's punch or effectiveness? I didn't catch how and why behind that. Keep up the great work!
Great question! To make a long story short urea is urine. Commonly cow urine. They farm it from a gas state. The one thing it wants to do is go back to it's original form. As water breaks down the granular urea it has a potential to volatilize (evaporate) between 40% to 70%. It's not a super stabile product. Mathematically you have to count on this happening.
@@pestandlawnginja Just watched this again for the 3rd time. Great content Ginja! I will also mention that it can be a lesson in patience to find a knowledgeable and helpful associate, like the one you had at IFA.
I used 1/2 gallon ortho Weedclear and 1/2 measured gallon of Tenacity with high yield non-ionic surfactant. This did clear all the weeds except the broad leaf weed. It bleached the bermuda but didn't kill it. Looks like I have to manually pull the broad leaf weeds. I was hoping if I left the thatch down it would smother the weeds. Sorry for the long text. To bad I can't attach a picture. THANKS!
Depends on the species Doug. The majority of the time I see damages its because the sprinkler coverage was off. The correlation is that the water washes out there nesting sites
Great video! I soooo sushi I had an IFA where I live, or do I? Yes for all the goodies for my lawn and no because I would be broke and divorced and no money to pay for a lawyer. 😂
Great 👍🏼 will the pesticides kill the desirable microbial organisms in the soil? If pesticides do kill beneficial bacteria 🧫 do you recommend any specific soil amending nutrients?
Pest and Lawn Ginja ok got it. Just found you’re channel. Love the beard. I just put some bio advanced from Bayer spectracide and have no Earthly idea if it wiped out the good stuff I need on my soil.

ugh, I'd love to find 50lbs bags of humate for $16 like you show @ 1:42 or really any humic acid at all locally....but then I go to your link and they want $65 for 40lbs ...sigh what up with that? .....I love this video btw....but kinda wish you would have gone to a more general store like we have to, as we have a much harder time finding stuff when the selection is much more limited at Lows, Menards, Home Depot, even farm n fleet type places; then there are the specialty 'garden stores' but prices get outrageous, like $40 for a bag of Milo? I'll pass ...shipping on stuff from Amazon, I'd rather not ....this video done at a Walmart would not have been so easy
Jealous of you guys having IFA. All we have is Home Depot and Lowe's and they do not have near the quality of selection. Wow! But at least there is Amazon. lol

Pest and Lawn Ginja thank you sir
wish I could do more
Pest and Lawn Ginja no problem. Centipede is so sensitive to everything 🙄
@@InDatParish that's what I've experienced. So crazy!
Would you recommend any weed killer that you can put down when temperatures daily temperatures are 100+?
No. I would recommend spraying at night if and only if the night time temps fall below 80 for longer than 6 hours.
@@pestandlawnginja Thanks for the advice! I've been trying to figure out a way to still treat weeds during the summer months. My lawn is a nice dark green but has some clover and spurge issues.
I hear yah. Look into your calcium levels. I would also see what you can do to thicken up the grass too.
The ginja cam was on fire! Great video.
👊😂
Can i still push growth on my Bermuda lawn to fill in the voids? If so, what do you recommend Ginja?
Yes. Phosphorus and nitrogen.
Hi Lawn Ginja master, I'm here in cottonwood heights. I have a weed problem which I think is a Field Bindweed. I can weed them out with hard labour. But these little buggers come back faster than I can manage. Any suggestions on a product for this little vine? Thanks.

Man do I miss IFA. Never had my lawn look so good.
They have a decent selection
I've got a huge problem with dallisgrass. Is there anything besides roundup that will kill it?
@@OrphanCrippler1 love that you're willing to do the work! You'll do great!
@@pestandlawnginja Its become my new passion for some reason lol.
What's the best way to remove dead grass with a Sun Joe, the power rake or scarifier attachment?
The dethatcher attachment is for lawn debris and the scarifier is for thatch.
Milo has been one of my favorites. What's the difference between Milo vs IFA brand vs CarbonX????
You trying to get me in trouble? Hahaha. Milo is low in nitrogen high in phosphorus, ifa has a broad spectrum of fertilizers, carbon x is a really well dialed in macro based fertilizer with humates.
@@pestandlawnginja I'm surprised that Tanacity was not mentioned. Is it because of it being too hot and potentially becoming volatile...... Meaning outgas and drift? Plus it's expensive$$$?
yah, it's mostly a cost issue and it's generally carried in the contractor area and not the residential home owner lines.
@@pestandlawnginja Thanks for the explanation. Much appreciated!
Anytime!
@@pestandlawnginja Just watched this again for the 3rd time. Great content Ginja! I will also mention that it can be a lesson in patience to find a knowledgeable and helpful associate, like the one you had at IFA.
@@lazylearner967 Aaron's a great guy. They're lucky to have him
My favorite fertilizer store
they are very good at what they do
Need one of these stores in Louisiana lol
It's a great store
How do you kill morning glory in this heat right now? I hate these little flowers in my lawn
T-zone and quinclorac. Spray early morning or late night
I live in texas. A lot of my grass has died away leaving exposed circles of dirt. Is it too late to seed? Also i have a crabgrass problem.
As long as you can keep the soil damp for 3 weeks ornlonger and you're a minimum 3 to 6 weeks from the first frost anything is possible
Thanks! Reseed first or remove crabgrass first?
@@DD1tspk both! Use tenacity
Ginja what do you think of feed and weed combo products?
They do ok. I see more burning from the herbicide due to putting too much down at one time. Calibration is key
@@pestandlawnginja Okay thank you, I'll keep that in mind.
@@L3ON360Z you're welcome!
Excellent video. That store has a lot of product. Do they have Tenacity.
Thanks! I dont recall seeing tenacity in the store.
They do have Tenacity!
Sweet store . Maybe a Arizona location one day.
quiet possible
Great info thanks.
You're welcome!
Wish we had a place like that around me.... Man my wife would hate to see the bill haha
Oh tim she won't care unless she sees the bills hahaha
I thought if your lawn goes dormant to stop all feedings. At least that’s what LCN says to do
Depends if you want to keep it dormant. I have an irrigation system and I want my lawn thrive.
Great video bud keep up the great info thanks.
Thanks! Really appreciate the support
Will the weed killer kill bermuda grass? What is best, for Texas area?
Depends on the type of weed killer. Always best to read the label
THANKS!
My birthday tomorrow shout-out have a blessed day bro
🎉 👊😁 Happy birthday brother!
Tomorrow lol yeah buddy getting old 34
Indeed 😂😂😂
OMG Ginja! If had a store like that I’d never leave it...tommy likely herbicides
I hear that trimec!
Me too !
They are better stocked than my local Siteone
Crazy!
I seem to have a lot of ants in my lawn. Do they damage lawns?
Depends on the species Doug. The majority of the time I see damages its because the sprinkler coverage was off. The correlation is that the water washes out there nesting sites
Holy cow... I cut mine once in a while..... Should have paid attention in Chemistry.
👊😂
Great video! I soooo sushi I had an IFA where I live, or do I? Yes for all the goodies for my lawn and no because I would be broke and divorced and no money to pay for a lawyer. 😂
I hear that!
What do you use for Bermuda mites
great questions. edis.ifas.ufl.edu/pdffiles/IN/IN121700.pdf
You'll need to use a miticide and not conventional over the counter products

Will pesticides kill beneficial bacteria 🦠? How do you compensate for treating lawn with pesticides?
Non systemic insecticides commonly lack active ingredients that cause tissue damage to plants or soil
Great 👍🏼 will the pesticides kill the desirable microbial organisms in the soil? If pesticides do kill beneficial bacteria 🧫 do you recommend any specific soil amending nutrients?
@@daddydustinmiller5150 not likely no. We use very specific insecticides just to target non beneficial nematodes.
Pest and Lawn Ginja ok got it. Just found you’re channel. Love the beard. I just put some bio advanced from Bayer spectracide and have no Earthly idea if it wiped out the good stuff I need on my soil.
👍👍👍
Thanks D!
Man this store is like a candy shop!!
Totally agree
Imidacloprid, why water in a systemic?
Needs to be directed to the root zone
Im a commercial applicator, agricultural. We apply a fair bit of imidacloprid on a variety of crops. Being a systemic you need not water it in but simply contact tissue. Foliar yo. I gotta satisfy my curiosity and read that product lable you showed. Good video, thanks 👍
Itll work that way with a penetration
what up A-A-ron!!

AWSOME as always, I really like the BioAdvance products, and also Scott’s disease x for fungi and 🐛 issues

wHNE WE RETIRED TO OUR COTTAGE HOME FOR SUMMERS? So did our having a Lawn to Mow and spend $ on nd too much problems to contend with// we landscaped our 1500 sq ft lawn.. after 8 yrs? Never felt better and enjoy our place so much more..No More Lawn Mower Problems, Not more Yard chemicals to constantly have to buy ( $ave #215 a bag) and spening my time on them.. Its heaven! New you business like Scotts wouldn't like this.. Don't be a Sucker..Landsacpe your yard instead.
You sir do not enjoy the mow
ugh, I'd love to find 50lbs bags of humate for $16 like you show @ 1:42 or really any humic acid at all locally....but then I go to your link and they want $65 for 40lbs ...sigh
what up with that?
.....I love this video btw....but kinda wish you would have gone to a more general store like we have to, as we have a much harder time finding stuff when the selection is much more limited at Lows, Menards, Home Depot, even farm n fleet type places; then there are the specialty 'garden stores' but prices get outrageous, like $40 for a bag of Milo? I'll pass ...shipping on stuff from Amazon, I'd rather not ....this video done at a Walmart would not have been so easy
It's the shipping and convenience factor unfortunately. I'm planning on going into some other stores soon! Lots of great response to this content.
I figured #1 would be....do you know the Lawn Ginja? Can I get a Selfie with him?
👊😂
Hahah lets do it !
Sounds awesome
Jealous of you guys having IFA. All we have is Home Depot and Lowe's and they do not have near the quality of selection. Wow! But at least there is Amazon. lol
We have a few good places including ifa, calranch, and Ewing. But price wise Amazon is commonly king
Whiteflies?
Cheapest contact spray or granular on the shelf! Bifenthrin or permethrin is what I use
Of course the best weed killer he recommends is the store version one😂
