- From the 1950s and up to the very end of the XX century, the Soviet T-54 and T-55 medium tanks were busy making a name for themselves all over the world. These fearsome, reliable vehicles served in South America AND in Africa, in the Finnish snow AND in the jungles of Vietnam. They were used by dozens of armies. With this series, the Soviet tank industry managed to make both one of the most versatile tank platforms of the XX century, AND the most ubiquitous tank ever. Today we’re speaking about the tracked Kalashnikovs - the T-54 and the T-55.

No T-64, T-72, T-80, T-90 and even T-14 Armata. All the tank that serve Eastern Europe country not exist if wasn't for this vehicle that start it all.

@@Daddo22 German tankers complain about fighting newer tanks with their panthers and tigers, but they quickly become the time travellers themselves. how the turn tables.
Armor does mean something: having played the 8.3 chieftains lately their armor is good enough to bounce poorly aimed shots, which forces opponents to take time aiming, but the armor isn't impervious and well-aimed shots (or good enough guns) will go through the armor and cripple the tank. even BMPs with that 9000 degree angled UFP can force an enemy to take an extra moment to aim instead of just moving the mouse onto the enemy tank

Honestly,America pumping out thousands of ridiculously expensive heavy bombers and millions of tons cargo shipment(just imagine how much steel was used for the construction of over 3,000 10,000 ton cargo ships)along with hundreds of combat vessels was far more impressive than Soviets producing ten thousands of cheap T-34s,field guns and mortars.
Though Soviet armament industry certainly punched way above it’s weight during Great Patriotic War that’s for sure.

Please never stop making these I and hopefully many others love watching these since we aren't just playing a game to waste time on but we play with the saviours or enemies of history and get to learn more about the tanks or planes etc we are playing not only that but it's interesting and enjoyable to watch

It's because Germany has a bmp1 with the DDR logo on it. They removed the ability to place it on Soviet tanks because otherwise you can disguise your bmp1 as a German bmp1

It's interesting to note that the T-54/55 would be more popular than its supposed upgrade, the T-62. The latter was significantly more expensive to make due to the use of the larger canon (115mm). However, upgrades to the T-54/55, particularly in the available ammunition to the 100mm gun, made the vehicle competitive vs the T-62 while remaining cheaper to make. Foreign sales would thus skew towards the T-54/55 in the decades to come.

Gaijin: there should be no difference in BR between T-55A and T-55AM-1 even though the M-1 is obviously more powerful
Of all the models, definitely the T-55AM-1. Its APCBC makes short work of any tank from the side, while its add-on armor can shrug off HEATFS and APDS during downtiers.
These tanks would be so much more fun to fight if i had stock apfsds. #stockapfsds #pleasegajin

Bruce, in case of the ZTZ59D1 the main gun is indeed of British origin, but it was bought from Austria. Based on that, the Chinese created the Type 83 rifled cannon(which is a bit longer than the original L7). Following that, another version of the Chinese L7 was created, the Type 94 rifled cannon(currently used on the VT-5/ZTQ-15 “light” tank)
T55am1 is my most played tank and i LOVE IT
There was also a t55am Merida, a polish mofification, similar in looks but with different mods. Like laser warning smoke screen dischardger

Bangladesh doesn't just use the Type-69IIG though. They have the Type-59BD/G Durjoy, a variant of Type 59 that has the 125mm gun and turret from the Type-96 along with other upgrades like improved fire control system, thermals, Stabilizer, fire suppression system etc. I wish Gaijin added this one instead of the Type-69IIG.

t55-am OP i love it, composit sometimes works sometimes doesnt, and the main gun is the most versatile i have ever seen.

Suggestion for Gaijin: please change the events, the whole board game thing is far more complex than it needs to be, they are very repetitive, grindy and boring. In my opinion it should just be a line of tasks with event vehicles at the end, similar to the tech tree but with missions e.g. get 20 kills with Japanese tanks, then you progress down the line, and so on.
Thank you gaijin, I know you guys get a lot of hate, but war thunder is genuinely a brilliant game that deserves more clout.

I remember playing Mercenaries on the Xbox and PS2 and seeing the North Koreans with the T55. It's just such a good looking tank and It's probably the reason why I like them so much.

People dig on the T line but in the t34 you can deflect multiple rounds and scare the enemy where as with the panzer you have to work with the cover or start losing modules as the enemy tanks start punching holes in you, I haven't gotten past the t34 series yet but I have played the t70 on my friends account and its just a monster of a tank.

While Russia has discontinued production and removed from combat equipment T-54/55, the Chinese are still producing and upgrading T-54's brother, ZTZ-59. The Chinese have modified some ZTZ-59 specifications such as the steering, control and combat systems to suit the servicemen of Asian countries and those with shorter stature than the Russians and Europeans. Europe. Until now, the Chinese have in hand the technical design of the T-54/55, so they have developed deep upgrades of this tank. Most importantly, it's cheap, their ZTZ-59D costs only $300,000, and of course it can still fight much more modern enemies like Western tanks like the M1A2 or Leopard 2A4.

My favorite tank is T55a, T55-am1, and the Romanian TR-85 that is based on the t55.
I really do hope they add the TR-85, or the TR-85M1.

I personally like the Chinese variants out of all of the t-54 and t-55 tanks... mainly the type 69 II G and the ztz59d1 simply because of the gun and the ERA packages... they also have their distinct look that’ll strike fear into the enemies eyes. However, the thing that I take the Russian t-55am1 over the Chinese variants is the bastion atgm that can save you in a pickle against helicopters and people at very long distances that you can’t hit or dont feel confident to aim

I'm playing T44-100 (7.0) now, and keep facing many 7.7 tanks, they're shooting me to bits and my other tanks are worse.
If I get a T54 (7.7) eventually, will I then get it easy and face 7.0 tanks, or will again I be facing tanks another tier up from me ?
you'll be facing lots of 8.3 and 8.7 tanks from there. good luck fighting apfsds and stabilizer with that t54 of yours.
We should be able to visually change the T-55 model with modifications like M1981 for smoke dischargers and laser rangefinder, add DDR/Czech production model visual cosmetic changes. Would make the vehicle look more diverse
Man if only we actually faces old school kinetic penetrators and the old heatshells with these things.
The t55A is my favourite. I really like the design especially the turret.
I am currently researching t 54 it will probably take a few months until i research and buy it, too much grind
1962 and early 1980s improved version: both at the same BR. either the BRs need to be expanded or there's some incentivization to buy the premium version (beyond normal premium benefits).
I am once again saying that this is not T-55-AM-1, because T-55-AM-1 is Czechoslovakian modification equiped with Kladivo (Hammer) fire control system instead of Volna fcs, also this modification lacks BDD aplique armor and the ability to fire ATGM´s through the barrel of its main gun. So this is either a soviet modification called T-55-M or Czechoslovakian T-55-AM-2-B (again with Kladivo fcs, but this time with aplique and ATGM ability)
The T54 1947 is really not fun to play anymore. They lowered the actual turret protection and also increased its battlerating. So you have to fight constantly highly modern tanks with stabilizers, high protection and high velocity ammunition.

2:31 pack of gun depression isn’t an issue for Russian tanks but it seems to be one when compared to western mbts additionally the 4 cramped tankers isn’t really classified as an issue for post war tanks you could say it is when compared to ww2 tanks with 5 spread out crew

Can you up BR the T-55A. It’s unfair having a full stabilizer, greater speed, better armor, and missiles with the 7.7 American lines. Maybe extend the BRs to 12.0 or 13.0 and stretch top tier a bit more
when the enemy has more tanks than you have shots to kill them with.
Almost invincible when tested against tiger and panther guns, but certainly not in the game itself.
I hope we get the T-54A and more variants in the game !!

In Vietnam they are 2 Legend is the t54 890 and type 59 390 liberate Saigon 30/4/1975 during HoChiMinh offensive
Vietnamese still use this tank from now like MBT although we have new 60 T90S

T-54/55 is still indeed good for Infantry support though, as long as there isn't any MBTs on the Battlefield

The T-54 and it’s descendants will be serving in national and private militaries for decades to come, and beyond that with mercenary groups and militias. They may very well be a timeless design like… sliced bread, or the AK-47

Are you going to put new skin for the Tiger H1 / E? .. Because German vehicles, have skins that the Tiger not like the gray camouflage and what is historical ... put that in place?
And also, German decorations for vehicles like German cans, sand bags, to decorate our vehicles a little more and make them even more historic ?! Please keep me posted =)

Volumetric machine gun Rounds to make it look cool to see the bullet kill the enemy fighter pilot it’s good for slow mows and love the volumetric tank shells they saved me in tank RB
