Life saver. First time back in penang after more than 30 yrs. Came with friends in car, decided to take ferry n train home. Very informative. Else pretty sure I'll be asking strangers in my path a very few minutes 😊

Was there a few days ago, nice experience. Hopefully more lifts are provided as well as escalators at PSAH. Nice reporting from you btw.

I just hope there are more boats and more docks.
Now it is just between Penang Sentral and old Georgetown for tourist. But places such as Bayan Lepas, Queensbay, Mainland Perai, are where people would be headed as daily commute, or even Balik Pulau and Airport. Those present great demands that are worth the investment, and complement with LRT as well.

Yes, agree, just look at Sydney how they turn ferry to public transport as well, or Bangkok Chao Phraya river boat

I miss the old ferry. Luckily I manage to take all my children to ride on the old ferry just before they were taken out of service. At least they know how it feels like back then. But its time to change. off with the old and on with the new.

Changed beyond belief. Before we queue and board More like a barge or landing craft in those days (1980s) standing with the bicycles and motorcycles.

Informative videos! I’m much confident to take the ferry now😂, after knowing where to walk. I almost wanted go to Swettenham that side.

If no bike/car, to ride the ferry from Georgetown to Butterworth, should I go to Swettenham Pier Cruise Terminal (SPCT) or Pangkalan Raja Tun Uda (PRTU) Terminal?

    1) so that means now at Butterworth, you’d have to keep left to the new dock and right for langkawi express?
    2) at Butterworth, PSAH is the new ferry terminal right? The old terminal on the left is still disused. There appears to be a link bridge to the old terminal at Butterworth which you first pass by before reaching the new terminal from the direction of the KTM station toward the ferry terminal
    3) will Georgetown > Butterworth remain free in the future?
Just came back from Penang island on the old langkawi express. Can’t believe I missed the new ferry service😂. Was making a video blog about it but now outdated liao. Good for Penang people though!

      1) There are currently no ferries between Penang and Langkawi. Langkawi Ferry Services operated the Penang Ferry on behalf of Penang Port from 1 January 2021 to 6 August 2023.
      2) It's the same terminal, it's just on different berths. There is no old terminal at Butterworth.
      3) I've described my opinion in my video.

    Very nice video.
How long was the ferry ride one way? Where will they have the time schedule posted (which website)? How much will it be after August 7th?

      1. 18 minutes
      2. www.penangport.com.my/services/ferry-services
      3. Unknown. However, the previous fare was RM1.20 from mainland to island and free of charge from island to mainland.

Old and broken NOW left only 2 vessels : they are Made In Hong Kong by the British : I have travelled on these ferries since 1970's... they were very pristine at that time - present times these ferries have lot of grim and dirt : on rainy days Water splattered onto the ferry interior --

    好好的檳城象徵性的船,為了狼卡位船民在MCO來討飯吃,毀掉百多年的檳城文化,這種官員叫什麼官,大家建議一下🤬
