I know....It can't have been easy! It's funny! I just put Tom Marvolo Riddle into an anagram generator....HOLY CRAP! XD Here's some of the better ones: Vomited Molar Lord, Vomited Armor Doll, Vomited Moral Lord, Lord Molar Vomited, Lord Vomited Moral.....Oh gosh! XD
It's long, but I had enjoyed it: In other languages, the middle name Marvolo was changed. It became Servolo in Brazilian Portuguese, Vandrolo in Hebrew, Marvoldo in Turkish, Vorlost in German, Narvolo in Russian, Sorvolo in Spanish (note that in this version, the surname Riddle was changed into Ryddle, to form "Soy Lord Voldemort", "I am Lord Voldemort"), Rojvol in Czech, Marvoloso in Slovak, and Orvoloson in Italian. In the Latin version his name is Tom Musvox Ruddle, which is an anagram of "Sum Dux Voldemort", or "I am Voldemort the Leader". In other languages, translators replaced the entire name to preserve the anagram. In French, Riddle's full name becomes Tom Elvis Jedusor (to replace "Riddle", "Jedusor" is phonetically the same as "jeu du sort", which means literally "game of fate" and refers to someone who undergoes trials due to coincidences; to fit this, the memory of Tom contianed in his Diary Horcrux refers to his being born a Half-blood as a "jeu du sort") which forms an anagram for "Je suis Voldemort" ("I am Voldemort"). In Icelandic, his name is Trevor Delgome, which becomes "(Ég)Eg er Voldemort" ("I am Voldemort"), but his middle name is not used for the anagram and stays as Marvolo. In Finnish his name is "Tom Lomen Valedro", anagram is "Ma(ä) olen Voldemort", "I am Voldemort". In Dutch, his name is "Marten Asmodom Vilijn", an anagram of "Mijn naam is Voldemort", or "My name is Voldemort". In Norwegian, his name is Tom Dredolo Venster, an anagram of "Voldemort den store", which means "Voldemort the Great". In Swedish, his name is "Tom Gus Mervolo Dolder", an anagram of "Ego sum Lord Voldemort", where "ego sum" is Latin, not Swedish, for "I am". In Danish, his name is "Romeo G. Detlev Jr.", which becomes "Jeg er Voldemort" meaning "I am Voldemort". Here, the "G" stands for "Gåde" which means "Riddle" thus incorporating the original surname. Mostly, this is used when referring to Voldemort's real name (Romeo Gåde / Rom Riddle). In Ukrainian, his name is "Tom Yarvolod Redl", an anagram of "Ya Lord Voldemort", or "I'm Lord Voldemort".
Splash ! In my defence, it was for a school project for a class of comparison between different translations XD My group mates did researches about Dante's Divina Commedia, the Odyssey, the Bible and the Quran. I did Harry Potter. No regrets. ;-)
+Tita Kay No i think they're both exceptional. The acting from the 6th one was brilliant, If you watch it again you could see how dark his character was, and the guy who played him done it brilliantly especially with how young he was, it was a mature performance, even the small details such as head movements fitted in perfectly with the character, he looked more cold and evil which was a sign for things to come.
Mahir Hussain the 6th couldn't act for shit. Plus he didn't act anything like the Tom Riddle I read about. He didn't sound trustable, he didn't care if PPL read him out he didn't look normal(and honestly? He wouldn't fool a damn thing ) and he sounded constipated the whole time.
Tita Katy disagree, if he didnt act like anything like Riddle than fair enough coz ppl interpret the character differently, but you can't deny the kid could act, was amazing doing that character, difficicult to do that cold and evil persona whatever the film is
Mike John lol, what do you mean? The one in 6 was literally a perfect fit. This guy is too old, and is acting is what you would expect from some high school drama.
he looked his age though lol and like they said the other tom wasn't nearly as charming as this one, tom literally is one of the most charming people, the other one looked sullen and vacant while this one looked almost aristocratic
Jer Evans while it may be true CoS Tom is more charming, I seriously can’t take him seriously as a Younger version of Voldemort. If anything this guy is gay, he’s way too eccentric. I think he’s overrated in my opinion, and people just like him because he’s good looking.
here's the thing though tom is suppossed to be good looking like super good looking to feed into the very real issue that good looking people get excused a lot of shit/overllooked when it comes to being suspected o crimes also lmaao did you see older voldemort? how he was portrayed in the movies? his mannerisms were super gay, and the way he touched up on harry wasnt very straight either, but hey it's your opinion and i respect it man..
No shit. If you said no, you'd get Avada Kadavra'd at best (quick painless death), or Crucio'd/bitten by Nagini (slower and much more painful) at worst.
Tom Riddle Tom Riddle watch out, harry will kill you in the 7. Part of the book!!! So make clear that your death eaters will use a time turner!!! Or do some more horxruces!!
I wasn't as surprised by the reveal of Tom Riddle as Voldemort as I was the line "Surely you didn't think I was going to keep my filthy Muggle father's name?"
Mahir Hussain true, the actor in 6 movie was really good! but i prefer the one from 2 movie, just because he was first. i just don't like when they change actors...
Yep in any film or show when they change an actor its frustrating because you always think it should be the original in that role, but in this case it was justified as the one in 2 was old to do 6
Mahir Hussain If there is no young voldemort in movie 2, the one in 6 would be better. Compare them both together, the one in 2 behaves more naturally, which makes him more "trustable" in normal people's eyes (besides Dumbledore since he is definitely not normal). The one in 6 just feels so much colder and more evil, I read the book before the movie, and this one just dose not give me the feeling that this is a trustable innocent boy......
Draco Malfoy This is obviously a mistake because no matter how close you think you are you're not supposed to just reveal everything..Voldemort would have won if he hadn't told Harry. At least, that's what I think..
Åzɍåɇℓ ɆvıℓĮṧÅɳÅßṧŧɍåȼŧ Ðɇɱøɳ Yeah he would have he had a wand in his hand! Instead he spelled out his name and told the snake to do it. Even if he was worried that Harry had a protective barrier he could have stunned him and waited until he revived before taking second steps, or shot the bird and Harry would have been poisoned. Your telling me the Greatest dark wizard didn't know phoenix birds had healing powers?
Draco Malfoy Exactly. :) Victory would be a child's play for him. Possibly he was either annoyed at Harry's lack of knowledge or simply not a good strategiest. I'm pretty sure it's one of the two. Heat of the moment, you know..He said too many things. Yes, my point. Harry would have been dead, and he must obviously have known. But come to think of it, if he had won against Harry how would the plot turn out? So they had to show Voldemort making a clumsy mistake.
Was I the only one who saw the movies and my jaw dropped? Just the men working for Voldy are so much more attractive! (Tom Riddle, Draco Malfoy, Blaise Zabini, etc.) Am I alone here?
Hang on a minute. Tom controls the Basilisk using Parseltongue, but Harry also has that power. So why couldn't Harry try to seize control of it from him? I'm picturing a battle that went on for hours, as Tom tells the Basilisk "Kill Harry," Harry says, "No, kill Tom," Tom says, "No, kill Harry," and so on and so forth, until a rather exasperated Fawkes just flies in and drops a big rock on Tom's head.
I love when Harry gets pissed and said "Albus Dumbledore is the greatest sorcerer in the world." I love it when he says that because was pissed at Tom Riddle aka Lord Voldemort.
Yes agree once But now I'll tell you something I once had a student named Quirell Makes me his body until they regain their and kill Harry Potter but potter killed my student and now I have my revenge!
i was about to say he's not a mudblood until i realized his mom, Merlope, was a wizard while Tom Sr. was a muggle, and then i realized he went after mudbloods and half-bloods
A smoking ChickenFish I think they related hitler and voldemort because of their similar prejudices and how they both wanted to eradicate people of a certain group. If I’m correct JK Rowling took inspiration from WW2 in the later books and movies.
Yep. JK Rowling was inspired by Nazi Germany, Fascist Italy, and a little bit of the Soviet Union. Tom Riddle's pseudonym Voldemort, was inspired by Stalin, which was a feared name when he was the leader of USSR. Mussolini was a fascist and so was Tom. But we see more of Hitler in Tom Marvolo Riddle. Harry Potter references Nazism by these points. 1. Tom Marvolo Riddle hated muggle-borns and half-bloods but he himself is a half-blood. Hitler hated the Jews although he has partial Jewish heritage. 2. Both promoted supremacy; Hitler is to Aryan and white race Riddle is to pure-blood wizard. However, they were never the true examples of the prime race they promoted. 3. Both Hitler and Riddle had bad upbringings. Hitler had an abusive father while Riddle's father left his mother after the effects of the love potion wore off. The two lived in poverty and had lived an unhappy childhood. Riddle was born and raised in a Muggle orphanage and, thinking himself superior to the other children, was quite unhappy there while Hitler was abused as a child and lived a large part of his life impoverished in a predominantly Jewish region. 4. Both were good at manipulation. Hitler manipulated his mother to pamper him while Riddle manipulated kids into giving him his wants. 5. Both were power-hungry. 6. Muggle-born witch Mary Cattermole is interrogated by a pureblood supremacist, Dolores Umbridge, The same happened to Jews who were interrogated before being sent to the death camps. 7. When Bellatrix tortures Hermione in Malfoy Manor, she carves "Mudblood" on the latter's left arm. This alludes to how the Jews were tattooed with numbers in the concentration camps. 8. Propaganda 9. The Snatchers were inspired by the Gestapo and the SS 10. Mudblood, a pejorative for muggle-borns, was inspired by the word "Kike", a vile epithet for Jews.
To me, this Tom Riddle is perfect. 10/10 casting. I know he was too old to reprise his role for the half-blood prince, but I would have loved to see this actor in the sixth film.
I far prefer how Coulson interpreted Tom Riddle. He would have shone in Half-Blood Prince if they had kept more of the memories in (a bit of make-up and CGI could have easily fixed him up, as he never looked old for his age). Some of the memories also feature a Tom Riddle in his 20's, which was his age at the time. I don't really like what Yates did with the character in Half-Blood Prince, he was too obviously evil and smarmy (the actors were good though)
what would have happened if Ginny had died? Maybe we would have a nose-voldy now. Tom is far more frightening and scary than Voldemort himself. I don't know if it's just because he has no nose.. I mean the way he acts, the way he looks and even the way he talks. All together it's just frightening and even as an eleven-year-old in that orphanage he scares the hell out of me. I would have loved to see more of his background story. They left out so much information about him in the sixth movie.
Rowling has said that it's fearful to think about! Instead of the Voldemort we see at the end, we'd see a Voldemort who absorbed Ginny's soul and life essence, meaning he'd have a whole and untarnished soul in addition to the fragments within the other Horcruxes that made up Voldemort's original soul! Also, he would have been his sixteen year old self, and due to his knowledge and power, he would have been harder to stop, not only having a whole soul, but Horcruxes to back him up!
@dinosaur junior Probably the same way Pettigrew found him. Rumors of where his soul had last been seen. And why not? Two Voldemorts would be virtually unstoppable. And, if for some reason, after O.G. Volemort was restored, if he then tried to betray and attack Tom Riddle, assuming that the Horcrux still had Harry's wand, then they'd quickly find out the same thing Harry found out in the graveyard in year 4. That the wands won't work properly when aimed at each other. I've always wanted to read a fanfic about such.
because you have eyes and you are straight😂😂😈😈. I kept wondering why this actor Christian Coulson vanished and we never saw him in any blockbuster movies. He was the hottest male among all the HP guys. Much hotter than Tom felton and Robert Pattinson.
lol. i still have a crush on tom riddle. wish he looked like this through out the whole series! i swear if he looked like this i would be in his team fighting with bella for having a crush on him. LMAO😂😂
@@martinstojanovic2123 Btw Voldemort was bold and ugly even before when he killed Harry's parents...This is Tom Riddle aka Voldemort but in old old times
And in this moment, Harry knew instinctively what to do, he casts a defiant glare at Riddle as he places the hat atop his head. The hat contorts as if to shape a mouth, Riddle looks back at Harry in confusion. "HUFFLEPUFF!"
The truth is, Columbus's contributions to the franchise are criminally underrated, as he not only captured the spirit of the books, but got far more driven performances out of the big 3 than subsequent directors. Dan Radcliffe did some of his best work in this film.
The actors were younger and had less going on in their lives and the Harry Potter plot was easier to tell. HP Book 1 reactive magical children, book 2 proactive magical children from book 3 onwards we a have insecure magical teenagers saving the world without all of knowledge they need to do so plus the grown ups are messed up.
bluewinter2004 Because Dumbledore is an old fool, and his manipulations plus Harry's obsessive trust in him are at least partly why Harry never becomes anything more than a mediocre wizard who ultimately wins purely by dumb luck (or because the author said so), and then settles into an utterly boring, average life after the story is over. Ugh.
chasm671 Yeah you have a point there. I know the story is suppose to be about the 'good guy' and 'courage' and all that, but they overdo it here making it come off as annoying and corny. Like at the end of the movies, he has the most powerful wand ever made, under his control, and fuckin destroys it. It's just too....... 'goody 2 shoes' for my interest.
He was trying to tip off Harry. At this point in the story, it was never his intention to hide his identity. Also, Voldemort is an egomaniac who loves himself way too much and would rather do what he does with style instead of doing what practically makes sense. That's why he made his horcruxes items that are relevant to both himself and the founders of Hogwarts instead of rocks which he would bury underground, ensuring that nobody ever finds them. That's why he wanted to use the Basilisk instead of simply casting Avada Kadavra on Harry. Edit: after re-reading your comment, I realised I misunderstood. I just noticed you said "Harry is kinda stupid" I thought you said "he is kinda stupid" referring to Voldemort.

Selene Gosh , you must have spent a lot of time in this
Splash ! In my defence, it was for a school project for a class of comparison between different translations XD My group mates did researches about Dante's Divina Commedia, the Odyssey, the Bible and the Quran. I did Harry Potter. No regrets. ;-)
Selene It must've been tiresome
im really really in love with tom riddle
I like this school boy Tom Riddle better than the newer one they cast.
Theyre both exceptional
Mahir Hussain No, this one is, the one from the 6th isn't
Tita Katy disagree, if he didnt act like anything like Riddle than fair enough coz ppl interpret the character differently, but you can't deny the kid could act, was amazing doing that character, difficicult to do that cold and evil persona whatever the film is
I think, going from the book, the parseltongue Tom speaks is: "Speak to Me, Salzaar Slytherin, Greatest of the Hogwarts Four!"
Alexander Hammond
Salazar Slytherin
Salzaar hahhahahh
he's freaking hot, that's strange
pervert
but but but... i'm 16
***** yeah but i gues this cahd hall guy thought i'm an old man or something :D
@ katja evs, learn how to spell my name right fucker
what do you mean cahd
omg the actor played Tom is freaking hot 😍😍😍
69 likes? Oh no 😂😂😂
Christian Coulson is the actor
Christian did his role as Tom brilliantly.
He's 5'9 though😵
Edward Cullen as Cedric was better \_(^-^)_/
"Give me my wand, Tom" He sounds so cute, and is clearly oblivious.
Ki Ki lol "oblivious" is Harry's middle name. He is always oblivious of everything.
"Sure, Potter, i'll get right on that."
He's not oblivious at all.
No matter how evil he is,he is damn handsome😍
TMAT TMAT they never said being handsome automatically makes him good and erases his evilness
Damn that’s some good acting for Tom Riddle. 10/10 scene.
I will rise again...
Tom Riddle Hahahhah😂😂😂 Sure, you will. 😉😂😂😂😂
Tom Riddle

Tom Riddle
*bows* How can I help you return to your greatness?
MidnightNinja 27 make me chocolate milk my son
I this actor played tom riddle the best
grant richardet yeah, the one in half blood prince is wierd and creepy. I prefer this one
Tbh if I was in the wizarding world and Tom Riddle asked me to be a Death Eater, it wouldn't be a no.
Sure he did
No shit. If you said no, you'd get Avada Kadavra'd at best (quick painless death), or Crucio'd/bitten by Nagini (slower and much more painful) at worst.
Lol
Tommy has really bad hand writing
Omg 😂
Thalia Potato his handwriting in the diary is a different story though...
I have to agree
if you could write in the air with fire magic would you care about the handwriting?
True. But it harrys wand so it kinda failed for him.So his handwriting was like crap
Tom is soooo handsome😍😍😍😍😍
Youri Hoogendoorn handsomeness is not something you'd associate with Voldemort.
Youri Hoogendoorn 😱😱😱
Youri Hoogendoorn thx
You are pretty much saying Voldemort is handsome, the wizard who has litterally has no nose. XD
@@russellelton5098 tom riddle is canonically supposed to look good, the horcruxes turned him into flat-nose, but these comments are still creepy, man.
Chris is just perfect here as described in the book! He has that calm look , he is deceptively handsome and very witty yet in a charming way
I am in love with that man
I love me too.
Tom Riddle Tom Riddle watch out, harry will kill you in the 7. Part of the book!!! So make clear that your death eaters will use a time turner!!! Or do some more horxruces!!
+Tom Riddle I thought you couldn't love.......
Loving himself and Nagini are the only accept ions as far as I know
marry him
I wasn't as surprised by the reveal of Tom Riddle as Voldemort as I was the line "Surely you didn't think I was going to keep my filthy Muggle father's name?"
Spent Lizard same. the man who wants pureblood supremacy is a half blood himself.
@@roshanfey no he doesn’t he doesn’t even care about pure bloods snape is a half and all Voldemort wants is domination over muggles and mud bloods
Really think this young voldemort is much better than the other one in movie 6......
Theyre both good trust me. The one in 6 is exceptional, I was astounded with how mature his acting was
Mahir Hussain true, the actor in 6 movie was really good! but i prefer the one from 2 movie, just because he was first. i just don't like when they change actors...
Wentao Feng But the Tom Riddle I read about was trustable enough to fool many ppl, therefore the one from the 2nd movie was better.
When I read and saw this scene, I just thought "Brilliant idea. Brilliant..."
This is a typical villain mess up, where they go on and on explaining their plan... Nice going Voldemort...
So they had to show Voldemort making a clumsy mistake.
when tom said "salazar slytherin" my heart melted
Same
Was I the only one who saw the movies and my jaw dropped? Just the men working for Voldy are so much more attractive! (Tom Riddle, Draco Malfoy, Blaise Zabini, etc.) Am I alone here?
I totally agree but atleast I got Lavender to fall heels in love with me
I totally agree but atleast I got Lavender to fall heels in love with me
In the books Zabini never worked for Voldemort
anyone noticed that two horcruxes (harry and the part of voldemort's soul in the diary )talking to each other? funny yet strange
Young Voldemort is just ADORABLE
I just tried the riddle and it's creepy knowing that
Tom Marvolo Riddle = I am Lord Voldemort
I know!! jk Rowling is freaking brilliant how the heck does she come up with that??!
+Uyen Tang I've always said that too:)
Break down the name Vol de mort. French Flight of death.
The Basilisk only listens to her master and that's Tom Riddle/Lord Voldemort
The Basilisk only listens to the Heir of Slytherin.
But technically Harry has a piece of Tom Riddle's soul...so..
satellite nation harry has got a piece of Voldemord and a lot of Harry.... Tom Riddle is 100% a piece of Voldemords sole xD
+Daniel J actually he isnt Tom, but technically this tom was just a split soul same as Harry if you think about it
I love when Harry gets pissed and said "Albus Dumbledore is the greatest sorcerer in the world." I love it when he says that because was pissed at Tom Riddle aka Lord Voldemort.
@Navi In A Box If someone killed my mom or even my dog I would get super pissed.Have you ever seen John Wick?

This was imo the best portrayal of Tom riddle. I wish they kept it that way during the half blood prince, it’s much more accurate to the books

my nickname is Voldemort.

Marvolo why is everyone saying Marvovlo?
Be careful what you write, girl I know where you live
Voldemort your dead you are not to talk
Voldemort is like Hitler, he hates what he is.
ukno918 interesting 🧐 i think you have a point
i was about to say he's not a mudblood until i realized his mom, Merlope, was a wizard while Tom Sr. was a muggle, and then i realized he went after mudbloods and half-bloods
ukno918
Belatrix- you dare speak his name?! You filthy half-blood!
Harry- he’s half-blood too, bitch!
8. Propaganda
9. The Snatchers were inspired by the Gestapo and the SS
10. Mudblood, a pejorative for muggle-borns, was inspired by the word "Kike", a vile epithet for Jews.
I love how in year 2, Tom is constantly angry, whereas in year 6 he is cunning, charming and says everything slowly.
In year 2, he was trapped in a diary for 50 years.
Because he play his role in year 6
young Voldemort is just... ahhhh
what a great story. Thank you, Jo, for the happy hours of reading and watching. THANK YOU SO MUCH!
"You'll find ' can be very..persuasive"
OH YES,YOU ARE..YOU CAN BET ON IT!!!!
To me, this Tom Riddle is perfect. 10/10 casting. I know he was too old to reprise his role for the half-blood prince, but I would have loved to see this actor in the sixth film.
Agreed!
Well I think 5 years is not that big diffrerence
Make up can do wonders.
Lynn15 everything was wrong with half blood prince. İt is my favourite book of the series but the movie was so awful I only watched it once.
this this this. exactly. you put my thoughts into words
Let's match the power of Lord Voldemort, heir of Salazar Slytherin, against the famous Harry Potter.
Tom is so handsome
what would have happened if Ginny had died?
19TheFallen would there be 2 of them because the physical voldemort still exists.
19TheFallen Soooooooo, he would be his handsome 16 year old self? Hmm I wouldn’t mind that at all
TheMajestic Apparently not. They would have combined somehow
Love how the camera angles become more and more odd and twisted as Tom get crazier
Tom Marvolo Riddle creates I am Lord Voldemort. Wonder how long it took J.K. Rowling to come up with that?
Write Tom Riddle, come up with any name using the remaining letters... Could've been Lomarvo, Varmolo, Vomarlo, etc.
So I'd say a few minutes, lol.
@@bryanlee6065 Voldemort is not any name though. It has a meaning which is "flight of death".

And in this moment, Harry knew instinctively what to do, he casts a defiant glare at Riddle as he places the hat atop his head. The hat contorts as if to shape a mouth, Riddle looks back at Harry in confusion. "HUFFLEPUFF!"
Of course he is persuasive
Look at him
Ok but Tom Riddle didn't blinked one single time!!
Harry: "He'll never be gone! Not as long as those who remain are loyal to him!"
Fawkes: *Screeches* "Did somebody say 'loyal'?"
I love Tom Riddle
Then meet him and kiss him
00:33 you should've known at least when he said 'mudbloods'.
Tom's face with Ralph Fiennes acting and you've got the perfect vessel.
Harry Potter and his admiration of Professor Dumbly-door kinda irritates me now.
Why?
bluewinter2004 Because Dumbledore is an old fool, and his manipulations plus Harry's obsessive trust in him are at least partly why Harry never becomes anything more than a mediocre wizard who ultimately wins purely by dumb luck (or because the author said so), and then settles into an utterly boring, average life after the story is over.
Ugh.
chasm671 Yeah you have a point there.
Cut the kid some slack. He's like Luke Skywalker and Dumbledore is his Obi-Wan Kenobi.
Vastly different situations and stories.
Lol he could've killed harry 300 times already in this scene. What a weak villain.
no cuz he is just a horcrux or i dont know how its spellled
i doont think he could touch anyone
The White Vortex He was able to pick up Harry's wand.
he wasn't a real person. He was just a memory, it didn't has the power to kill him
Also, Harry's kinda stupid. "As poor ginny grows weaker, I grow stronger." How is that not a tip off to harry?
Kiss him, Harry! Kiss him!!!
