I own an XC40 (for over a year) and feel the climate control is way over-engineered. My feelings are confirmed when I get in my daughter's Honda Accord and it's just a couple of simple knobs. Much easier, especially while driving.
Otherwise, I love everything else about the XC40!

This tendency to get everything, including basic stuff like climate, on a touchscreen is really bad, and leads to accidents by turning the attention away from the road to the screen. And this cannot be filled by voice recognition, which works erratically, thus dangerous on the road. Knobs should stay for the basics.

The person in the video used voice at the end of the video. For me buttons free is a blessing look at the ugliness of the buttons inside a german car , compare to this or a tesla wich is more extreme, or even to the next gen of Ev's coming from all manufactures in the near future!

I totally agree.just bought an x60. Love the car but basic functions as such should be left alone. I guess I’ll be using voice activated. Had no idea I could do that. I was driving my car and the windows were all fogged up. I opened my window and had to use the wipers lol. Thank god I was able to see.

Thanks so much - just bought a new XC40 and couldn't figure out a couple of things. This was really helpful!

Telling the car what to do is just about the same as when I tell the wife to do something. She doesn't listen half the time.😂

To be honest, as a Volvo owner, I wish Volvo have some buttons for temperature control and other common features. Controlling everything through touch screen may not be the best idea, cause I want have my eyes on the road majority of the time.

When using car play all these voice commands are disabled? I have noticed that Siri takes over and Siri won’t control climate settings.

Talking to the Voice Activation is more stimulating than talking to my wife.

How does the rear Ac work? Does rear passenger have access to it on the 2023 S90? Has a lock symbol on it.

I see that your button clicking takes a while.. Who is steering and driving the Volvo when you use a couple of minutes to adjust the temperature? What was Volvo ("The Safety car") thinking of?

Why aren't the fan automatically adjusted ? On all other cars the fan adjust to the need

How do you command start it with the heat blasting? I got my Volvo and I command started it today and the heat was off completely on its own. How am I going to defrost windows and get the car warm from command starting it?

How do you turn the auto system off?

  • @nobodynemoq

That really sucks - touchscreens in cars are good, but only if they DON'T replace the basic controls.
In Renault Clio you can't even change radio loudness without going into special menu on the screen - ridiculous!

When I put it on floor, the air kicks on the windshield. Doesn't matter if floor or floor/center body... Kicks (blows hard) on the windshield. I have dry eye. Can't have it on windshield. Can't turn it off. Got car in January, COLD WEATHER. I have 50 miles on it because I don't like my feet freezing. How do you get the heat on the floor? Defrost is off.

Is it possible to turn one side off while running the AC? Like have the driver side running but passenger side off?

    • @janjpaluch

Probably by closing vents manually on the passenger side, I believe 🤔

@@mtorres184 What? It just keep the temperature in car as you set. Not blowing same teparature air constantly, but changing it to keep the same temparature inside of a car. Are you an american to don't undarstand it? xD

This would take half the time and be much safer with physical buttons. For a brand that is supposed to focus on safety this is a retrograde step.

  • @emkay2903
    @emkay2903 4 года назад +3

isnt it much quicker to change the setting by yourself?? That system sucks.

If you are driving then it is not safe to use the screen because then you will look at the screen instead of the road. Then it is safer to use voice commands.

Why are manufacturers bushing these clumsy new on screen climate controls and seat heaters? It's a geeks gimmick feature. I've never wanted to talk to my car or my phones google voice commands.
