Are you looking for a budget muslin backdrop to use in your small portrait studio? I recently purchased 3 of the Neewer Muslin Backdrops in Black, Grey and White. So in this video I will give my review of these products and let you know what I liked, didn't like and what you may need to consider. #neewer #muslin #backdrop #background #photography #review
Thanks for the review - it’s a big help. I’d been looking at various reviews and almost all brands - people complained about the backdrops being see through. You’ve made me feel a lot better about buying a muslin backdrop!
I just ordered a few of those ,I asked about neewer products in another one of your videos. The godox and neewer modifiers I tried are OK, the lastolite softboxes are much nicer the lighting is more pleasing from lastolite .Westcott has more reflective silver .Like I said the godox and neewer are ok
Studio strobes just have more power for larger rooms. You can get the same studio looks with speedlites. I have a number of photography lighting tutorials on my channel. Please feel free to check them out.
Great video as always, Joe! I have similar cheap backdrops I bought on eBay. I like them a lot. But I always stacking them. No light leak or spill what so ever! :-)
I like the material overall. Its plenty thick enough for flash photography. Only people complaining are the ones that bought those _____Studio lighting sets with 40wCFL light bulbs that are not bright enough to overpower any ambient light. That and at $17.50 USD. Its would not really save much money buying material and having them sewn by a tailor. So IMHO its well worth the money. Like I mentioned, I recommend these for flash users. Cheer, Joe :-)
***** Exactly.. :-) My biggest problem with Neewer is that if they have someone making something for a while, but are not making enough money or find someone else to make something cheaper. It may end up being different quality form the next manufacture. Could be better, could be worse. There is just no consistency in quality. Cheers :-)
As far as light leaks, nothing is stopping you from stacking 2 together, 1 behind the other. People just like to bitch! They want top notch for bottom barrel.
I know your right. The next size up is less then $30 bucks. They can get it and just fold it over. Of course all the complaints are from noobs who buy those studio whatever lighting sets with florescent bulbs and assume they have whats needs to take professional photos. Those who are using speedlites or strobes though will have no issues with these soon are they get the wrinkles out.. LOL Cheers.. Joe
Thanks for the review! Mark is right. People need to bitch or it wouldn't be right! One thing I learned quickly, once I really got involved in photography, is you need to be able to solve problems on the fly! I appreciate your work, Joe! Have a great night!
Thanks for clearing it up....now I can feel confident in buying these backdrops and will know what to expect...

Most of my softboxes are Fotodiox, but I did buy a pair of Photix Spartan 70's and I do really like them.
I just ordered mine. Thanks, Joe
Dude, I'm from Venezuela and I love your accent.
Thank you :-)
what would you recommend for shooting with continuous light?
If I were to use a white muslin background and use an external flash, will my photos turn out just as good if it were studio lights?

Thanks Svein. Much appreciated.
Yeah same as said below, light leak is easily stopped by stacking. But does the material really seem tough or cheapy?
