Lovely project!! I have seen these threes several times but thought it was difficult to make them. You explain it so well and easy. Thanks a lot for that!! I am going to try them! I am lready happy and excited thinking of what I would to. Thanks for that too. Love from Chile.
Hello!! nice videooo i just wanted to say tysm u helped a LOT of people , ONCE AGAIN THANK YOUUUU ❤❤❤❤ oh and merry christmas even tho it's november ahaha 😂❤
Thanks for the lovely video. I'm wondering what type of glue you recommend? Would standard Elmer's glue be adequate or does it have to be a special craft glue of some sort?
+Diana Morris Hi Diana! Honestly, I've never used Elmer's glue, but as far as I know it would work! The one I used was the Pattex Wood glue (mixed with water), just because it was the one I had at the moment. I hope this helps :) Thank you for the comment and question.
Yes, you can make it as large as you want. If you want to make sure it's extra strong, you just need to cover the tree with glue a second time and let it fully dry again! And if you use twine, you'll get the sturdiest tree, no matter the size! I hope this helped!
Hi Teresa! I didn't colour any of them, because the string I used already had the colours you see. But if you're thinking of colouring your trees, I would sugest using a paintbrush and acrylic paint (after it's dry). Happy crafting!
It could work, but unlike foil you would have to use glue or scotch tape to make it stay in place. However, I think it might actually be a good idea! If you try it let me know. :)
I DESPERATELY NEED YOUR HELP! Does it really take 1-2 days to dry? Our school project is asking us to make string art lantern (Christmas themed) But were supposed to do it at school for only 1hr. Is there any way to speed up the process? I would honestly appreciate help.
It always depends on two main things: how much glue you use (that's why you should take the excess off) and where you leave it to dry (an area with some wind and no humidity would work best). I guess if you use a blow dryer in the cold mode, you can speed up the process a little! I hope this helps!
you did a good job showing how to make this. You have a good camera 2.Mine is not that good. You probably will like some of the crafts on my channel 2.Good Job though.
Thank you :) You can always edit your videos to increase brightness or enhance contrast. The "leaf turkey craft" video was really cool and I see you like cats! So do I :D
Hi. Would you write to me how much glue and water ( what's the ratio ) ? And how much of the string do I need?? Can't hear, that's why I ask. Great video! Thanks
Hi! The ratio I used was 2 parts glue/1 part water. But there are people who do it 50/50. As for the amount of string, all I can tell you is that for that size of tree, I didn't use all the string ball you see in the beginning! I hope this helps! :)
Hi, Sakshi Gupta. I don't think it will work as well, but I can't say for sure as I've never tried it... Maybe you can try it and share your results! :)
Hi Vivien. It will always depend on the weather (if you live in a place with a lot of humidity, it'll dry slowly), the place you leave it to dry in, how much glue you use. I've had a tree dry in 2 days once, but another one dry over night (in that one I took more glue off the string before I rolled it around the cone). You can also try using a fan or blow dryer, as long as it is far enough from your project, so it doesn't ruin anything around it. I hope I was able to help you!
Hi! I added water because the glue I used is wood glue, so it's not very liquid, so the water makes it way easier to work with, but if you have a glue that is fairly liquid, you can skip that part! :)
+totong1970 Hi! I'm glad Dianna answered with something useful, 'cause all I can tell you is I measured by eye... I just put some glue in a mason jar, then added half that height in water and shaked it to mix it up! Good luck with your project!
Hi, Janice! I think you might be taking too much glue off the string or you're not rolling it tight enough around the cone. One other way to make sure the string holds itself better is to always change the angle you roll it in, if you understand what I mean. I hope this helps!
+iheworld134 You can! Or if you prefer, you can even use baby oil, or sweet almond oil. The purpose is solely to help separate the base from the tree, once the string is dry :)
+Deborah Degroat Hi Deborah! What type of glue did you use? Depending on that, it might be too weak for the string you're using or you just didn't use enough glue. Also did you apply the oil to the foil to help separate the tree once it's dry? It's important, because if it is stuck, the strengh you use to separate it might ruin the tree. I hope this helped!
+Deborah Degroat Ok, so I'm guessing the problem was the amount of glue... Next time, try adding an extra coat of glue on top of everything before you separate the tree from the foil. It will make it even harder. Then, when it's dry, carefully separate the tree. It should work! :)
Hi, Ana. Did you previously apply oil like I suggest? If not, maybe that is the problem. And you have to try to separate it slownly and carefully, section by section so that the string doesn't break. The amount of glue that you've use might also be the problem. In that case try using less glue. Then, when you separate it you can easily give it a second hand of glue and it will be just fine. I hope this helps.
Really cool! I made a golden one, similar to yours and added white hearts. Thank you for the tutorial!
Thanks! I'm glad you like it! I bet your string xmas tree is beautiful. :)

Thank you! :D
Great video :)
+Heather Morton Thank you so much!
Great video. Do you think the string would tolerate water later?? I"m thinking of filling the string up with succulents
Well, I'm not sure really. The glue offers a bit of a cover, but I don't think it would be that strong. But that's an interesting idea.
Thanks for the lovely video. I'm wondering what type of glue you recommend? Would standard Elmer's glue be adequate or does it have to be a special craft glue of some sort?

Hello! Love your video. Gorgeous trees! Can you tell me what kind of string you used? Is it crochet string? I love the glittery gold. Thanks!
Hi, Kim! Thanks. It was thin glittery crochet string, yes. :)
Thanks for the video tutorial. one question.. will this work if i make this way larger like a normal size xmas tree? thanks
Yes, you can make it as large as you want. If you want to make sure it's extra strong, you just need to cover the tree with glue a second time and let it fully dry again! And if you use twine, you'll get the sturdiest tree, no matter the size! I hope this helped!
Wow this is nice and easy ..❤👍what kind of glue did you used?thanks
Thanks! Mod podge (home made with water and white glue).
How do you color them? Spray paint ? If so when? Before taking off the foil or after?
Hi Teresa! I didn't colour any of them, because the string I used already had the colours you see. But if you're thinking of colouring your trees, I would sugest using a paintbrush and acrylic paint (after it's dry). Happy crafting!
Hi..i made a string tree and when it dried..it seemed to be floppy..would you know why?and how to fix this problem?thx
Hi. Seems to be lack of glue. Did you mix it with water? Maybe it was the wrong proportion. Was it fully dried? Could be that as well.
@@seasonthemeddiy6615 hi...thank you
Would parchment paper work instead of foil? Since parchment paper is also non stick?
It could work, but unlike foil you would have to use glue or scotch tape to make it stay in place. However, I think it might actually be a good idea! If you try it let me know. :)
pigzrulez Plastic wrap would work, too.
😊😍😍😍😍😍🎄🎅💙

can we sit it by the fan to fasten the drying process??
Well, if the fan is not so strong (or so close) that it spills the glue all over the place, you can for sure! ;)
Good
Thanks!
We want to do it for this xmas, but my mom is asking what kind of cord is this golden one?
Good question...It's thinner than wool, but I don't know the name of it...sorry.
This looks exactly like twine
And how long will it take to dry?
It will always depend on the humidity and temperature, but in general it takes 1-2 days to fully dry.
LOL! I already have this thing! I
+Laura B You made one? That's great :)
+SeasonThemedDIY no... but im going to make it! I just got it from a shop!
Laura B I'm sure it will look amazing. Good luck!
Bonjour je voudrais savoir quel fil vous utilisez pour un sapin de Noël. Veuillez me répondre Merci
Il peut etre laine ou un fil plus fin.
Great diy! I was just wondering where you're from, in some parts you sound British others you don't. Thanks
Hi, Iris! Thank you. I'm actually portuguese and English is not my mother tongue. British is my favourite accent. Where are you from btw?
Well then you speak very good english. I'm from England :)
Thank you so much! :)
Can I use the yarn?
Yes, you can. :)
what is the difference if we make it with starch solution
Hi, Sakshi Gupta. I don't think it will work as well, but I can't say for sure as I've never tried it... Maybe you can try it and share your results! :)
Can it dry faster
Hi Vivien. It will always depend on the weather (if you live in a place with a lot of humidity, it'll dry slowly), the place you leave it to dry in, how much glue you use. Ok
:)
what kind of string did you use? 😭😭
Hi. I used crochet string. I hope this helps. :)
can i ask an exact measurement of the mixture of the modge podge pleeeaaassse !!! its for my project ..
I would use 5tsp of glue and 2 Tsp water hope this helps
+Dianna Holtz OMG !! thank u very much
+Dianna Holtz is it okay if i use wood glue ??
+totong1970 Hi! I'm glad Dianna answered with something useful, 'cause all I can tell you is I measured by eye... I just put some glue in a mason jar, then added half that height in water and shaked it to mix it up! Good luck with your project!
+totong1970 And regarding the wood glue, yes you can use it! It was actually the one I used for this video. :)
rugs waylaid
My strings kept on falling apart from the cone. :(
Hi, Janice! I think you might be taking too much glue off the string or you're not rolling it tight enough around the cone. One other way to make sure the string holds itself better is to always change the angle you roll it in, if you understand what I mean. I hope this helps!
can i use another cooking oil
+iheworld134 You can! Or if you prefer, you can even use baby oil, or sweet almond oil. The purpose is solely to help separate the base from the tree, once the string is dry :)
Porq no lo pones en español!
Porque sou portuguesa ;) Mas tem legendas que talvez dê para entenderes.
GOD BELSS Y0U
God bless you as well! Thank you

mine just crumbled what am I doing wrong
+Deborah Degroat Hi Deborah! What type of glue did you use? Depending on that, it might be too weak for the string you're using or you just didn't use enough glue. Also did you apply the oil to the foil to help separate the tree once it's dry? It's important, because if it is stuck, the strengh you use to separate it might ruin the tree. I hope this helped!
Yes, I brushed the oil on and I used the regular white elmers school glue mixed with water, I also used yarn.
+Deborah Degroat Ok, so I'm guessing the problem was the amount of glue... Next time, try adding an extra coat of glue on top of everything before you separate the tree from the foil. It will make it even harder. Then, when it's dry, carefully separate the tree. It should work! :)
the foil and cardboard don't come out easily and the string is broken. you didn't show how you did it. and also for the baloon. thanks.
Hi, Ana. Did you previously apply oil like I suggest? If not, maybe that is the problem. And you have to try to separate it slownly and carefully, section by section so that the string doesn't break.
