Hi ladies, what a well produced video with some really good quality tops, facts etc, did not realise how much effort goes into cleaning, preserving and recording, this was a well worth watch
Well done ladies, clear unbiased advice on our hobby. I'm a new subscriber and I'm slowly working through your videos and I am really enjoying them. I love the detailed history content you give on the finds. Thank you for sharing and looking forward to more videos
Greetings from Grimsby (still living up to its name)! I find the Vanquish 540 a great all rounder. Beach, grass or arable it gets the job done. My tip for digging on pasture: dig a three sided clod as you say but I have an old piece of cloth to lay on the grass next to it and any excavated soil is placed on this. When done simply tip the soil back into the hole and replace the plug. Also, I try to avoid digging pasture in a long dry spell as the clod can still dry out even if it is three sided.
Great tips for pasture Chris! We haven’t used the Vanquish 540 ourselves but have heard great things from other users! So many awesome machines on the market now!! 💪
could you do a few shorts on how to dig and fill holes on plowed and and pasture correctly so i can share them around there seems to be so many who dont fill there hole properly I am asking all youtubers to help on this to get the word out bad holes are not on
I personally struggle with knocking up the landowner immediately after my detect, Im not on best form. I email them with pictures of what I"ve found which sometimes has stumped me when no interest is taken. In my opinion books dont always trump the internet there are so many advantages with say the PAS search facility, but Im speaking as one who lived in the pre internet epoch! Great video I think it is important to be aware of the current responsibilities, And I think there should be paid detectorists salvaging finds from development areas alongside archaelogical surveys which since the green light was given by Govt means half my own County will be soon submerged (Im not convinced the surveys are happening!)
Haha I think our landowners have gotten used to seeing us looking like mud monsters 😂 It’s great when you can have a shared interest in history. PAS is really good for more obscure artefacts, we find books are better for coins! It would be amazing to see more detectorists and archaeologists working together, we both have unique skill sets and joint passion! Thanks for watching and sharing your insights Dave! 🙌🤎
@@RomanFound Not at all I like the responsibilities that you embue. Nice set of drawers you got there btw! I have seen some detecting channels that left me wondering about actual permissions granted as stated. I don't feel this with yours. Anyhow a video acts as a record of finds I can match locations if ever I need to later on. Even if no one watches it, it's a record. Also if the landowner keeps a record of the finds particular to their estate a genealogist could potentially trace something lost by their ancestors, a family crest or something personal. Good your care for paper we discussed this in the 90s when doing my Ind Design course, and the feeling then was that paper was more tactile and therefore books would still be around in the future, Which is where we're at now
Do you agree that 14 days to report a treasure find is appropriate this always seems bias to me. 🤔. I know numerous people who have reported treasure finds within the appropriate time yet haven't been contacted by the treasure people well after a year has gone by. 😕.
I think the 14 days keeps things tidy from the finders side, any longer and people might not take reporting as seriously. Do you mean they haven’t been contacted after handing over finds for the treasure process?
@@RomanFound Yes. A fellow club member handed in a treasure item to the flo at our local museum ( he used his own money and time to travel there ) and a full year later he has had no response. 🤔. It doesn't seem right to me. I will also add if the item is purchased by the museum he has said he would wave his payment.
It’s really important to keep reaching out to them, there has been huge backlog since the pandemic. The process can take over a year but the new law changes have introduced time frames for these to take place in. It’s not perfect by any means!
@@RomanFound Grimsby calling again! I have been waiting on the Treasure process since September last year. I think they just don't have the manpower. I have just heard the coins I submitted are back in the hands of the FLO in Lincoln so it might not be too long before the coins are back.
in another words you do a hard work, and someone in office making money :) , my friendly advise for begginer , do not start, it is not rewarding it is not worth investing and in the end it's not worth it... Only people who benefits is youtubers and so called history recorders.... What do you need to record? History is in making every day.... All this system is created to trick people in to spending time and money to make somebody else rich....
Having a combined knowledge of many fields in treasure hunting wont render this a pointless thing to do. We live in 1 of the richest historical countries in the world... If you're down on your luck maybe your doing it wrong.

How to you guys decide who keeps the finds? 😂 Or do you live together? It's good to hear your tips 👍
Ellie looks after them as she needs access to them finds for recording and Identifying.😂Thanks for watching!! 🙌
Top video 👑
Cheers Ash!! 💪🤎
I prefer detecting on beaches. They are a lot easier to dig and the tide brings in new goodies twice a day.
Hoping to do some beach detecting this summer! 🙏

They really do need more funding to be honest, but I think we’re really lucky in Lincoln, our FLO is great!💪
