I might have seen thoes l2350's on the production line. I went to College "across the street" from the plant and got a tour. I remember them saying they were headed to Auz. Seeing the engine and machined balljoints for that thing disassembled was something I will never forget. That was a long time ago but still vivid in my memory.

Biggest I ever saw here in England was the RH200 at Shotton. They also had lots of RH120 machines too. A group of us were in the RH200 while it was working filling dump trucks. The machine is bouncing all over the place. The Shotton site was located adjacent to the A1 trunk road in Northumberland. I shouldn't say this but explosives used for breaking the layers of bed rock to expose the coal had caused a problem near the A1 - a set of explosives had thrown rocks onto the grassy side embankment of that trunk road, fortunately none onto the tarmac. Bosses decided to push the face shovel through unbroken sandstone instead of using bang to break it! That machine, with its twin engines, simply ate through unbroken rock and is why we were bouncing a bit in the (large) cab. I'll never forget the memory of that massive face shovel eating through sandstone and every now and them a massive plate of the rock lifting away. The operator then gently placing it into waiting dump trucks. I know that extra work was said to be 'no good for the machine' as they dug into it.
If you're interested, somewhere on RUclips there's actual footage of the company making those face shovels in their factory. The initial pieces of metal, as you've shown in the video, looking nothing like the machine they would be welded up to be. I currently can't find it to link.

Budge had the first RH200 at West Chevington in 1988 along with the first 789’s in the UK. Less than a mile from my house. As I’m writing this I’m looking at the restored site from my window.

Did a similar thing back in 1988 Allistair..Did the Greyhound Bus around Australia..Travelled over to Western Au to visit reli's..then travelled North to Nunutarra alighted the Bus and hitched hiked into Mount Newman, Via Wittenoom..met up with a fellow Englishman originally from Kent..called Derek Jones..who arranged a Site Visit..we were'nt allowed down in the Burrow pit but stood up above Mount Whaleback looking down into the BIG hole..Back then they were running Haulpaks (Dumptrucks) did'nt see any loading shovel's or Faceshovel's..A Great Day! also fed and watered in the workers mess..Derek arranged for me to travel up on the worlds largest privately owned Railway to Port Hedland..i stayed in contact with Derek up till last christmas when i assume the poor bloke passed away! In the Mines i'm assuming this is where you learned your Fantastic Welding Skill's..and possibly where you earn't the money to start your Business back in Ireland..Great Video!! guess we share the same passion..Cj Birmingham UK..ps i have a picture of stood alongside a Haulpak on my bedroom wall (24"x18")..taken on the 8/8/88..great video's and slide show

I never worked on the 2350 letourneau loader, but I spent a couple of weeks rehosing an 1850 Leturneau loader up in West Angelas mine about 200 klms north of Newman west Australia. That was back around 2003. It was in for a 60000 hour overhaul. If memory serves me right I think it was the third biggest wheeled loader in the world at that time. Good memories, and one of the best mine sites I worked in.

Used to regularly see the tyres go by me from the port, one per abnormal load, on the way up to the PMC operation. When you drive past PMC and see them in the pit they do not look big, till you realise that those tiny little machines crawling up the incline are massively larger than the dinky toy Hilus bakkies, and you realise that the red flag on the tall pole are really there so the operator has a chance to see that he is only a tiny bit away from making a Hilux flattie, without even noticing it. Same for the D6 dozers at the brickworks, which also had armoured cabs, more for the errant rocks than for the shooting, though they did get a fair number that came in with AK rounds in the radiators, and skid marks on the housings, though any that went into the tyres would not even be noticed.

Yes Jack King is right about the Shotton opencast operation, also the company used the excess spoil to create a vast monument known as Northumberlandia . Also over the years on site's in Northumberland big geordie a 1000 ton walking dragline also the ace of spades 4000 ton walking dragline , the ace of spades was bought by a company in America and shipped back to the US. Big Georgia was scrapped. Alistair keep these very interesting clips coming great variety

I remember back in the late 70's, seeing five or six big CAT dumpers along the M1 England, they took up the hard shoulder and most the first lane. I was in my Dads DAF 2300 passenger seat and looking up at the cab, tipper just cleared the bridges.
Not sure what number they had but they were big.
Great to see them from the past. Cheers

Remember a tale from my BIL about when a tropical cyclone hit, and was busy undermining a major road, and they needed to move fill in. Only the one quarry operator was there doing it, running his D6, and he only had 2 speeds when operating, flat out forward, or flat out reverse, and regulated speed with the blade, moving a hillside down into the river to stop the erosion from undercutting the bridge and road. Smaller dozers to sort of handle the side spills, but he was busy flat out in the rain, tearing away at a hillside and moving it towards the river. Dozer had a good work out, and the hill was a lot smaller when the water finally subsided.

You will need to come back to check up on the Komatsu Wa8000 round 800 tons I think 3 of them working in the Kalgoorlie super pit That Terex digger was originally designed by O&K in Dortmund worth a look up in Wikipedia I worked on the RH 200 in 1992 and at that time they had a built in computer capable of remote operation they were a well built machine some of them would have worked efficiently up to close on 100,000 Hrs which in mining would be approx 15 years

You having spent time in Australia know that when it comes to big Australia generally has it. I watch stuff from US. Who according to them always has the biggest and the best. Like their trucks. Nothing comes close to a six trailer road train coming out of the mines. Trucks, trains and earth moving. Amazing scale out here.
