A couple things I think you may have missed: 3:33 when Tyler is sitting on the stairs holding his eyes open he has the red Nico eyes and there are a few different shots of Josh playing drums while there is a bishop hiding all creepy like in the background like at 6:01 and 6:02 and 7:40.
The depth of their lyrics is just insane. It's why their one of my favorite bands. Such meaning.
Tyler said in the live that he didn't want to put the song on the album but Josh really liked it so he went ahead and did it. He also said the same thing about navigating.
Both are among my favorite songs of the 50 years I've been alive.
Tyler's not wrong in these lyrics, they're always testing the limits of what a mind can do...these guys are phenomenal!
With the White clothes and the red lighting. The song gives me extreme "Fairly Local" vibes. He's also wearing the red contacts that he wore in Fairly Local whenever he's on the stairs. So you really need to react to "fairly local" for the ending of the album

This is my absolute favorite song off of Clancy! I love the lore elements in the video. The hand that reaches out to Tyler at the beginning represents Blurryface/Nico/Tyler's negative thoughts.
It's Tyler's jacket in the next scene, so his mind is grabbing hold of him.
Seeing you this excited nearly made me tear up … can not wait for the rest. And yes Tyler dancing has always been a favourite thing … there’s just something about the way he moves especially on stage.
Blurryface is such a demon stuck everywhere in Tylers sleep. Giving us that tour we didnt know we wanted. Its beautiful how Tyler n Blurryface sing together. The harmony on the vocals. 💯 🔥 ❤

In the room where it's just Josh after you first see the cloaks in the back corner there's one standing behind them. Also, I think at the end the hand that like wakes him up. I think that's just Josh's hand

Thanks for another video! From my understanding Mark Eshelman is like bandmate #3 as he shoots a lot of the videos and has been with the duo since 2010. He is also the founder of Reel Bear Media. If I'm not mistaken they were all roommates at one point.

My man caught the Bishop robes instantly. If you pay close attention. The red lights are like "bad" memories, there are some rooms with blue lights, but they wont show that. Cause red memories are what's keeping Tyler up. And the Bishops are in red room aswell. There was only 8 robes behind tyler. But the 9th one was behing left side of Josh at 7:02 indicating its one of those "good" bishop Keon i think? who let tyler escape from the submarine on "Saturday" song and then got betray killed for that later at "The outside" for that. Great details in this song. But its not connected to the lore, its like a spin-off if you ask me

loved this reaction! this is in my top 2 from the album for sure. Tyler stated in the live stream that the next video in the lore- taking place after Overcompensate- was Navigating and then Paladin Strait (which doesn't have an official video YET- it premieres early June). So technically this isn't part of the story of videos in the lore BUT yes so many references! The 8 bishop cloaks and then another bishop behind josh when he's in the other room. the yellow flowers, his red eyes in the stairs. I think this video is mainly how blurry takes over Tyler's mind at night, which is a motif he's used lyrically in every album. Can't wait for the rest of your TØP reactions!

Dude this video and song perfectly captures the experience I had in Columbus as a young adult. Hats off to Tyler and Joseph for a song and music video that captures the essence of being a millenial that grew up in Columbus trying to find your way and transitioning to adulthood. It’s sort of overwhelming when you lived there and are reminded of the culture there.
I think the first hand at the beginning was his insecurities, aka Nico. The last one looked to me to be Josh’s hand reassuring him that things are ok.
Also, I haven't heard that theory yet where maybe The power is kind of corrupting him. I really like that one. That's that one's different

This is my favorite from the album but Vignette is a very close 2nd.
Backslide is maybe my overall favorite but, like you, leaving the first 3 out of the "competition" because they've now lived in my head for so long.
Probably my favorite video off of Clancy (pending the release of Paladin Straight) and in the running for top song off the album (though there's quite a few in the running). The 8 bishop robes with the light in the background, a bishop seemingly hiding in the corner behind Josh, the blurring of their faces in shots and just the overall vibe of the song and video. Great stuff.

I think the red in this album means he finally feels strong enough to do more than just survive he feels ready to fight.
Nico is there. He's always there. This is a place where Nico has jurisdiction in real life. Nico is part of Tyler's psyche and I think in part this is blending the lore and real life. It's like he's showing us where Nico lives in his mind, the places he has jurisdiction but as a concept in real life.

As far as whose hand it is at the end of the video: I always interpreted it as being Josh, waking Tyler from his nightmare. Josh's character In the lore is the Torchbearer, and he has the ability to guide those who are lost, so it would make perfect sense. I could very well be wrong, though!

I remember reading somewhere that one of Tyler's goals on this album was to bring back the color red, but instead of it being used against him - he would have some ownership over it. That said, Tyler and Josh have been known to lore drop and mislead/tease in interviews before; so it wouldn't surprise me at all if there is much more to it than that - especially in this video where there are some pretty clear references to him being 'seized' by Blurryface like in the Fairly Local video.
Tyler did also say that only Overcompensate, Navigating, and (later) Paladin Strait are actual lore videos. But, clearly there are lore references, and probably even implications, being made in non-lore videos like this one.

All right, going back through and rewatching some of these. This might be an obvious statement but just in case I'll ask. Are we all on agreement that the bishop that's standing behind Josh is Keons. Cuz it just kind of made sense. There are eight bishops cloaks in the closet and they representing the eight bishops that are still under Nico. And then because Kenos betrayed Nico, he is now behind Josh. (If you didn't know, Kenos is the bishop that got stabbed in the beginning of outside because he helped Tyler escape)
