Baroque music by masters... Superb performance. Great. Greetings from Czech republic, Mid.Europe. Landscape of my country was shaped by human work in the baroque times... And I love it...
Ah yes, Telemann, the underappreciated Baroque composer, yet so prolific. I ordered the sheet music for his twelve fantasies for solo violin after previewing only the first page, a B flat largo (and bought them off iTunes). Can't wait for the sheet music to arrive, even if I can't play it all yet! And one of my current pieces from an old grade 5 book is a fast sonata movement by him, it's great! Compact and to the point. He was so prolific, he needs more exposure, to be fully tested!
@Elmothefuzzle They were friends and Bach even named one of his sons after him. Bach frequently studied Telemann's works. Give it a chance and listen to his works, it is worthwhile. My favorites are the viola concertos.
Nice playing. I wnder why most baroque ensembles don't use vibrato,as in baroque times it was accepted and even encouraged to use it. THIS is authentic.
I don't understand why there are so many comments in regard to the interpretation here. I thought it was a musical, authentic performance. Visually perhaps not...but the sound was wonderful.
@VelikyUstyug1 Good thing too! I appreciate the difference between now and then, but nevertheless, you feel that he doesn't get the same coverage concert-wise as the likes of Handel et. al....
Saying "period players" you mean "players who play like other period players you listened", instead of "players who read treatises", isn't it?. Did you read a lot of treatises? Do they say "play like Bruggen"?

This pleases me. I cannot stop listening again to it. It really sounds great. Does anyone know the title of this piece ?

Georg Philipp Telemann
Overture Suite for flute, strings & and continuo in A Minor.
the magic quartet IS: D. Scarlatti, J.S.Bach, G.F. Handel and G.F. Telemann and their mentor is A. VIVALDI...
rock!!!!!!

@leomulder The Overture to the Suite for flute and Orchestra in a minor.
Hmm would you mind if I ask you to elaborate on that? What specifically in their interpretations do you deem "too bizarre"?
I'm totally in consonance with Turenne64

but many of them have modern instruments. what do you think about it?
Y EL ULTIMO MOVIMIENTO??
Do you have to be on your period to be considered an authentic 'Period Player?'

@elmothefuzzle.
(I was trying to answer to
oeppevnvpeb )
Modern players with 'period instruments'. The Garden of Harmonicas are pretty gimmicky. They should read more treatises...
This is so simple and boring compared to Bach
Overtura alla francese
Magnificent performance yesterday in Croatia!!!
