Licensed but not currently working cosmetologist here, I wonder how many of these bad haircuts are given by newbies to haircutting or people that only know one way to cut? I had often worried that I was giving everyone the same haircut style regardless of what they asked for or showed me in the pictures they brought to go by. I did mess up some people's haircuts by accident or misunderstanding of what they wanted. I still cringe about it. The worst hair to cut is thick hair or curly. If you don't know how to taper and blend very well, every haircut on them looks wretched, but you literally cut it right but it needs more refining to look good, especially when it moves. Cutting hair is both a science and an art; it takes practice to get good at it and do it well.
This is why I cut my own hair; no silly small talk, no hairdresser fiddling with my hair for no apparent reason, and no matter the result then I do not have to pay anything,
