Somalis prioritize their own language and there is a strong emphasis on speaking the native language. In the past, Somalia discouraged its people from speaking colonial languages, which is why English, French, and Italian were not adopted as official languages. Somalis are more than happy to teach foreigners their language rather than learning a foreign language themselves. So, if you are ready to learn our language, you are welcome.
