@@Roof_Pizza this is illogical because if your baseball knowledge was such that you knew that, then you would stay to watch because that's what people who know that much baseball do
Saw this in person- any time Pedro was pitching in Baltimore there was no way I was missing it. Pedro doing what he did in that era is absolutely ridiculous. The guy was automatic with a change up that just fell off the table.
To do what he did, in the highest run scoring environment in baseball history makes him the greatest pitcher of all time in my book. Honestly there is no argument that would change my mind on that
Of that series, I saw Variteck move his glove more than two inches twice. Look at that movement too, yikes. His fastball and change up are the same pitch. Batters have to guess. Not even a Sox fan. Just admiring greatness.
I once had seats in the upper box behind home plate when Pedro struck out 13. I have watched many, many games live, and many great AL pitchers live, but never saw so much side to side movement on a hard fastball... I couldn't believe anybody could hit it!
Pedro Martinez was the best. That's why his nickname was Alien. It's better that you have a very good personality than anything else. Always stay healthy.
1:54 fitting that pedro goes the full nine and ties the al record by striking out the guy he was traded for because they thought pedro was too small to go deep into games
In the highest-scoring year since the 1930s, in a league with a designated hitter, in a hitter-favored home park, and without getting to face the AL's 3rd worst offense of the season, Pedro Martinez posted an ERA of 1.74. The second-place starter by ERA, Roger Clemens, himself an all-time great, could only post a 3.70 ERA, and he had a slightly more favorable home park, and had the advantage of not having to face the Yankees' noticeably better lineup (6th out of 15 in OPS). And he did all this while, by all accounts, not using any PEDs. Although I don't rule out that his hands were developed in some sort of alien laboratory.
It was a different game back in Pedro's day. Plus he was basically playing against accountants. They didn't understand anything about nutrition and exercise back then. And today the game is way more complex. So Pedro would definitely have problems today. He might still be an all star though that's debatable
The dude had a sub 2 era during the best stretch of home run hitting the league had ever seen. Greatest pitcher to ever play.
2000 Pedro is the best pitcher baseball has ever seen
His changeup. Just untouchable
I loved his curveball but man that change up amazing
Definitely one of the best, saying this as a Yankees fan. The confidence and just pure ability is incredible.
Tough to decide between Pedro and Maddux as the best of this era (90s/2000s). Randy Johnson was a beast, too.
Glory days
I saw this game live, such an amazing performance
Already had a 2-0 lead before the 1st pitch. In his prime that pretty much meant the game was already over.
Imagine understanding that and going home early? What a performance they woulda missed.

Pedro’s pitching highlights are so impressive!!!🔥⚾️
Best pitcher I ever saw.
Agree. Not even a Sox fan.

Best pitcher I ever saw in my generation
@1:13 -Frozen in time. Pedro was unbelievable.
Was there. An outstanding performance.
Difinely a dominican proud and such a inspiratión 💪🏽💪🏽

Best pitcher ever over a couple yeae period
Facing Pedro in his prime is unfair. Facing Pedro in his prime, when he is getting an inch off the corner called, is just plain hopeless
Pedro Martinez was one of the best pitchers

That change up to a lefty is the best pitch in the history of baseball. #NoChance
like el que lo sigue viendo en el 2017
had his fastball moving all over the place that night.
Dominance !!!
Amen
Unreal movement on that fastball.

@@mikegulliver4885 and late movement, too. Prime Pedro was scary good
From 1997 to 2001 hes as good as any pitcher ever

The caught looking Ks at #2, #3 and #10 were questionable but no doubt it was a masterful performance.
I think #2 was a strike. #3 I’m not sure though. That two-seamer kind of speed inside.
#10 was an absolute dot on the outside corner, definitely a strike.
1:54 fitting that pedro goes the full nine and ties the al record by striking out the guy he was traded for because they thought pedro was too small to go deep into games
unbelievable...
Makes me wonder why the Dodgers traded him..

Look how roided the Orioles lineup was, wow.
Half the league was roided in that era. A good pitcher was 3.50 ERA in that time, Pedro was 2.10. Pure dominance
Antes; ahora... ahora hasta el sexto y mucho es...
00:40 nastiest curveball I have seen by sir Pedro Martinez well favourite of that game😅😅😅😅
페드로 마르티네스 형 실력이 최고 였죠. 그래서 별명이 외계인이었죠

I just took down 15 Orioes in celebration 🍾
신의 영역.
I'm laughing at how Pedro struck out those Orioles players 😆😆😆.
From 1999-2003, a 2.10 ERA and 1.95 FIP. In the AL East. In the Steroid Era.
😮😮😮😮
ahí se enfrentaron lo de el cambio de Montreal y dogher
Pedro was so good and so loved he got the white announcers to learn spanish so they could say "ponchado"
Joe Castiglione has been calling games for Boston for a LONG time... Joe knows his languages.
So the only players in that game was the pitcher and the catcher no one else LMAO 😂😂😂
And The Umpire who always says Strike out....👍
Swing and it miss x100 lol
Painting corners
More like 12 k's. 3 were gifts..

All the roids in the world do you no good if you can't touch the pitch.

The commentator's voice is really annoying. He needs to be changed.
So I guess all commentators are annoying to you.
Joe Castiglione is kind of an institution in Boston. He’s not being changed until he decides it’s time to retire.
