I have recently been getting blue screens on my computer due to a hard drive fault, (now replaced). You put me in a panic for a few seconds there with that blue screen in your video. Nice review, thank you...
@@Salletto and still happy with your choice ? Only thing I'm concerned about is fuel consumption that seems a bit high. Other than that it's my perfect bike :)
Best Veefer X review on here Honda reliability wins every time I've owned two vfr800s and two blackbirds anyone that says Honda's are crap have never had the privilege of owning one keep up the good work🖒🖒
hello Cager, very nice review, I did both test drive too, Tracer and Crossrunner. When I tested the Tracer I found a very easy and friendly bike at minimum speed, well balanced and light. The engine of the Tracer is amazing pulls like a bull and the sound.... WHAT A SOUND!!! The Honda on the other hand was so confy that I would have never get down of it. The Honda throttle response is more friendly and if you want to ride with fun you have to use a lot the gearshift to keep the revs over 7000rpm. The Tracer it's a lot of fun also at low rpm range. I think that the Honda should be the choice for a kind of user that will make long holiday trips. It has a lot of storage capacity, two-up is fine, it goes fast on the highway at lower rpms, confy and safe. The Tracer is the best for city commuting, blasts on the hills on saturday and can handle a w.e. out, but it's not ideal for long trips, these, for me, are the main differences.
At the start, you talk about how pretty it is... but I can't keep my eyes off the BMW in the back in white / red /gold. Love that color scheme! Yes, please take it easy in the mountains. We want you to be safe!
I close my office door to watch discreetly this video... No wonder why the French economy is in turmoil. Anyway, great test-ride as usual CagerOnTwoWheels! I love that bike... and this hill road is really BREATHTAKING!!! 😍 (02:55 It seems she also wanted a "test-ride" 😉😇)

Caaaageeer thanks for this review! I feel in love with the v4 of the crossrunner X, but my brains told me the 900 tracer GT is a better buy. I went with my heart and got the V4, unbeatable engine..
Really enjoyed this review. What an engine the vfr is when the vtec kicks in, and it never fails to put a smile on my face! I have one for two years and even though it hasn’t got the latest electronics it’s traditional set up gives the rider more feeling of what your sitting on.
Great test ride Cager, probably I prefere this instead of the Tracer, more refined and drivable on an everyday commute as well as on a trip with 2 up and luggage. Beautiful road choice for the test ride, sometimes I found myself looking at the panoramas instead of to the bike!
2:52 "Looking at her now, she seems to have been squashed horizontally" *woman comes out hearing this, turns back and smiles at Cager* She may have thought that you were talking about her. :)
This V4 is a much more updated version of the original V4 from the VFR 750, somewhat tame compared to the 750 I used to own and tuned to 115 BHP! It was a 1989 superfast machine, low center of gravity and like taking off in a jet! I loved the sound of the engine, a bit more raughty than yours, I could easily have killed myself several times, since the power was too tempting. None of the group I ride with could catch me, so I just had to calm things down with an 850 TDM instead! Still, I may still consider this to ad to my 56 moto ownership history, since I am feeling the need for a little touring in Thailand where I live! It's now June 2021, so how's your bike now after 6 years plus?
+captainengland I am still very happy about my Crossrunner, and it is the best bike I have ever ridden. I will keep it on till I can't swing my leg over the seat (54 years old and 175 cm tall) 😊 Sorry the late answer, and greetings from Denmark.
A little comment on acceleration, when you turn the ignition key on, machine starts with the highest Torque control (2nd level) means the lowest power , which is typical Honda safety. Wants people to ride safely so if you need a ride like tracer you have to change it everytime you switch the ignition on.
Yeah it doesn't sound like the smoothest thing in the universe... I guess I'll have to ride one to make my mind... 1st gen Versys can be had for quite a reasonable amount of money which is unfortunatelly one of the factors for me... I've read somewhere that parallel twins emit only the positive vibrations ;) So perhaps yours is broken;)) (just kidding:)) Thanks for the opinion !:)
Good review as always, glad you mentioned wind prorection at the end. Ivthought maybe you were having too much fun to remember. I would choose this over the tracer too, probably because my mate's mt09 scared me to death!! keep up the good work mate, ride safe .
I love the reaction of the people at the beginning The best way to describe a V4 is they have almost a Nascar sound to the exhaust.. There's something about the V4 that makes for a very American racecar-esque sounding exhaust. Now other bikes sound like european sports cars/race cars but both the Honda V4 and Aprilia V4 (RSV4 or Tuono) have a nice cackle and throaty sound to them that sounds more American where 3 cylinder and 4cyl bikes can sound like Jags or F1 cars.
The MT09 Tracer has the worst suspension i have ever tried on a stock bike. Its SO bad that when you hit higher speeds, it wobles like crazy! I would get the Honda any day between those to
When you said "she seems to been squashed horizontally", anyone else saw that random woman just stare at cager? And everyone looking at cager in the intro And those little kids thinking that he's talking to himself Yet they don't know how awesome cagerontwowheels is
Hello Mr. Cager! If it is possible please make a Kawasaki Versys 1000 review. I cannot really decide what to get in this category and the Versys 1000 costs exactly the same in my country as this Crossrunner. I'm going to testride the Crossrunner in a few weeks, not sure if it is possible to test the Versys 1000. The Tracer is not an option for me because of it's terribly uncomfortable seat I could easily feel when I got on it in a showroom.
Fantastic review. At least you showed me it has adjustable suspension. They don't even advertise it on the site (UK) that it has. Have you road tested the Kawasaki Versys 1000? It's going to be a choice of this or that for me...

are you going to be doing a review of the triumph tiger 800 models xc/ xcx xr/xrx Ithink you will be very pleasantly surprised cager ! btw nice reviews enjoy them kind regards to you
G'day Cager! Mate I'm looking in this segment and like this bike, the Tracer and the Aprilia Caponord. Right now in Australia I can buy a new Tracer for about $14,800, a Crossrunner for about $13,500 and the Capo Strada for about $16,000 or the touring version with ADD, CC, paniers and centre stand for about $17000. These prices are all on the road, ride away. What would you or anyone else reading go for? Stay safe, stay upright. Thanks Charlie.
Hi Cager. It's always a pleasure to see your tests. I only want to add the information that this engine work with 2 valves since I'm not sure if to 4.000 rpm or 6.000 rpm, over this line than it work with 4 valves per piston at full power, for a better fuel economy. I think that's why the bike result so smooth at the start and low revs.
Now I'm confused which one I would prefer x.x At least now I know what to except from Honda. Any possibility for Triumph Tiger 800 XC or KTM Adventure (any of it's kind) ? (Thanks again for reviews!)
Great upload as always. Btw, heated grips w/o hand guards is pointless in my opinion. The worst cold is the one that hits the front of your hands and finger tips. What's the point of just keeping the insides of your hands warm?
i loved your review of the NC750x and now this one. I am considering both of the bikes for purchase (i know this one is a lot better but the price is really high), however i am interested in one thing only: comparison of the bike height? how tall are you? is this bike higher than the NC or not. I tried the NC and i can put both my feet down but only with half foot not the whole foot. I am consirned that this one is taller... whats your opinion? thanks
Thanks for the review. This season I'll get some test rides on both bikes - VFR and Tracer to judge it personally. As for now I think that Yamaha would be more suitable to my expectations. Your test confirmed my presumptions. Very important factor is the price. Both offer very similar attributes, but €3000 make a difference.
I totally agree with you on the center stand.. especially for a dual sport bike like that. My 2001 VFR800 has one and i use it quite often for maintenance and other other reasons.. Is there one available as an option???
I Love your Reviews. But... would you be please so kind to test the new Kawasaki Versys 1000 2015?!?? That would be great, if you would do this in a comparison to the V Strom 1000 and the Honda VFR1200X Crosstourer. THX and ride save! Greetings from Germany
(12:20) If you slide here you'll be pasted all over a (very) square concrete stanchion! Lordy, that wasn't engineered by a motorcyclist! Thanks for your review and cheers from Australia - Dave
If Honda can shave off about 30KG from the weight then it becomes a bit more comparable with the Tracer, perhaps! And with that weight it is a beast to commute on a regular basis, especially in congested city traffic!
I do not know if it is because of your microphone, but the sound of the vtec and high rev. sounds like something is vibrating. If the sound in the video is realistic, I don't like it much. But other than that, it isa good options to rellace my vstrom. Now I just have to wait for Honda to sell it in Canada. For now, only the Africa Twin and 1200 crosstourer are available.
I like the face of the boy (and the other people :P) on the right at the begin of the video, thinking.... wtf is this guy doing?! Nice ride and review cager! ;)
MagicAyrtonforever Years ago dispatch riding in London and around the country with probably over a million miles under my belt, mostly near or at full chat and having had a VFR 750 & a BMW 1100 GS back then, they are both amazing all rounders. Advantages of each; VFR: like the BMW very tractable off line due too the way the engine pulses VFR 0-60 mph 2.4sec's BMW 2.5sec's (mag tests) and because of those pulses: easier to control grip in the wet and can put the power down earlier out of bends than inline fours. Cruise @ 120 to 140mph on VFR, 110 to 125mph on the BMW, advantages of BMW over VFR: Great commanding riding position, vision, wide high bars give you huge advantage safety wise by allowing very hard and fast counter steering. For years I thought what a great bike the VFR 750 would be with wide high bars and a small screen; now naked bikes; and like this VFR800X are all the new thing: so may years ahead of my time; I must be a genius! Back to the BMW great anti dive that really works, low centre of gravity (no one should be afraid of riding the GS it is absolute child's play), can still knee slide it (lay it down to the pegs, get off it; turn your foot in towards the frame can help, comfort long distance one or two up, luggage capacity. So basically before the GS the VFR was widely regarded as the best all rounder in the world, but now the GS rules the world in covering most bases. Hugh in NZ (now)
When using a head mounted video camera, you should try to keep your head still and move your gaze slowly. Its not easy watching as your neck twitches left right, up AND DOWN. Quality video would Pan and Tilt gradually.
funny how VFR800F has center stand but this one (which you'd expect to have as standard) doesn't. I think VFR800F is the perfect example of jack of all trades bike. only thing I dislike is the massive 240 kg and a TCS that looks like an after-thought. and actually the VTEC. i mean it's a V4 to take advantage of low to mid torque...but then not unleash the potential by using half of the valves. meh.
I have recently been getting blue screens on my computer due to a hard drive fault, (now replaced). You put me in a panic for a few seconds there with that blue screen in your video. Nice review, thank you...

Not a patch on GS.
Hugh in NZ (now)
Very nice bike bro...i wish i could have this one too..good review also..tc.
9:45 HAHAHA! My sides mate, they're gone! You're a funny man.
When using a head mounted video camera, you should try to keep your head still and move your gaze slowly. Its not easy watching as your neck twitches left right, up AND DOWN.
Quality video would Pan and Tilt gradually.
As always, very fun to watch. Stay Safe!
Very interesting review. And your accent is perfect for me! (french)
funny how VFR800F has center stand but this one (which you'd expect to have as standard) doesn't.
I think VFR800F is the perfect example of jack of all trades bike. only thing I dislike is the massive 240 kg and a TCS that looks like an after-thought. and actually the VTEC. i mean it's a V4 to take advantage of low to mid torque...but then not unleash the potential by using half of the valves. meh.
