This is a great pattern & instructions are perfect. I tried using crochet hook size 3.75 mm, but it was too big. I ended up using a size 3.25mm crochet & it turned out perfectly following the instructions completely. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
After making 6 of these hats I finally learned what size works for me. I made two using an F and G hook and they were HUGE!!! I used Mandala yarn and a size G hook, but instead of chaining 88, I only chained 64. It came out perfect. I also found her band very tight as the single crochet to start doesn't stretch. I used the stretchy method that chains and single crochets in the same stitch and that works much better for me.
Fantastic tutorial! Don’t change anything about the way you do your tutorials, the fact that this is in a second language makes it even better. I’ve been crocheting for several decades but this makes the pattern achievable even for beginners who may need a reminder at the beginning/end of rounds, thank you and well done 😍
Sheru you are amazing. Love and enjoy watching EVERY video tutorial of yours. Keep repeating every row FOR BEGINNERS. This channel is not made for criticism. Sheru is doing an EXCELLENT job by helping and giving BEGINNERS a chance to learn and progress. Americans keep away if you are not pleased the way she teaches. Find a channel that fits your fancy. This isnt Sheru's language REMEMBER she is doing her BEST to please us all. I wonder whether these nuts who criticize Sheru know to speak a foreign language other than their American language. You guys "steal" her designs and criticize. This is humiliation. 😡 Sheru wish you the very best. 💓💐💗I've subscribed to your channel many years ago. Thanks for sharing caring and making me smile. A big hug. 👍👍👍🌹🌹🥰🥰🥰
First let me wish you a MERRY CHRISTMAS. 🎄🎄🎄💐💐💗💗 🎁🎁🎁You will be surprised I made 4 hats. First I made a pink and a white for my lovely daughter in law BUT when my Newfoundland's physiotherapist saw these hats her eyes popped out. Especially Christmas time is sharing so I gave her the two hats. I made the same colors for my daughter in law for Christmas. Ooooof jobs done. They are ready for the 24th. Thanks for this fantastic video. You are a very talented young Lady. Thanks for sharing caring and making me smile. Hugs from France 🥰🥰🥰🥰💐💐💐💐💗💗💗🎄🎄🎄🎁🎁🎁🎁
You were the first person I saw made the 3d leave hat, I still have my hat from years ago love it so much I keep it thanks for sharing happy I didn't lost you
Thank you very much for your wonderful tutorials!!!!!! I made this hat and it's amazing!!! Now I'm crocheting the matching scarf thanks to your detailed instructions!!!! I love all your patterns and soon I will make them one after the other! :-) Thank you one more time!
For anyone whose hat is turning out too big with worsted weight, try using thinner yarn. I've had good luck with Lion Brand Mandala color-change yarn and a G hook. I have a big head, but 72 chains fits me perfectly with plenty of stretch. For a man, try 80 instead of 88, or use 72 chains with an H hook.
Thank you for your tutorial, your explanations are clear and the way you use your camera it’s amazing; I can see every move 😍, thank you for sharing your knowledge😊. God keep blessing you💐.
You are awesome, I make alot of items and give them away to elders and children, I am excited about this project, you are so helpful and clear in instructions, I wish more crocheters where like you. Thank You.
If you plan on doing this stitch flat. I suggest you do the base chain in multiples of eight a double crochet row then start the pattern. You should begin and end with v stitches since it’s not a circle.
You can make this leaf pattern by rows, Tutorial you can find here www.sheruknitting.com/free-crochet/crochet-stitch-patterns/1574-crochet-leaf-stitch-pattern.html
I would like to use this pattern for a baby blanket. Can you advise me how to start and work my way through? Thanks for teaching the world the techniques of crochet. Blessings Milly. The Netherlands.
Bonjour.
Hello I love this video. My question to yoiu is if I wanted to make this hat smaller where I stesad of 11 leaves I have 10 leaves can it be done? I don't have 3ply yarni have 4ply. Please help!!! Thanks much.
Hello Ma'am, this beanie pattern of yours is wonderful. I made this beanie following all your instructions as it is. But my beanie turned out too big and loose.
EXCELLENT VIDEO. i understand that you cannot make a written pattern for free because you need us to watch the ads, but perhaps a paid pattern is available?
Okay, so I wrote out the pattern. Only I used Word pad because that is what I had. If Sheru doesn't object. I can send it to her and she can post it somewhere or I can post it on my Ravelry page with links to this video. The file, I am sure, is way to big to post as a message.
Bonjour.
Hi Sheru, what kind of yarn did you use? I used a medium (4) yarn, with 3.5 mm hook. I made 88 stitches in round 1 and followed along, but I only have 10 leaves. Also I think the hat is going to be too tight for me. Pls respond with the kind of yarn. Thanks.
Hi, Thank you so much for this great pattern and amazing visual instruction. I wonder if you could tell me how can I use the same pattern to make a throw . working on a flat rows rather than a circle. Thanks
The pattern repeats every 9 st so decide how big u want Then do a small test 19 st Then measure how many sts per inch Sts per inch (9 sts) x how big u want it to be Remember that u need a 9 st repeat Good luck I think it will be stunning
I have made this hay twice using two worsted weight yarns, one with a J hook and the other with a G hook but unfortunately they have both turned out too big. what kind of yarn are you using and with what size of hook? thanks!
If it is only the brim that is too big try crocheting some shearing elastic (the very thin type that is used in dress making) around the inside , I did it on one that I did before xmas and works fine and it's not visible from the outside.
If you click on show more below the video, it lists yarn 100 gr of 3.53 oz and hook 3mm-4mm (G). If work comes out too large, try a smaller hook (maybe F or D). I like this hat and will try it.
kundly confirm me the row 6 first you make 6 double corchete then you make 7 double crochete so we have to go this sequence 6 and 7 . kindly reply soon
Firstly we make make dc into each of next 6 stitches of the previous round, then dc into the next stitch of the previous round, chain, and dc into the same stitch, dc 7 into each of next 7 stitches after that repeat again dc into the next stitch, a chain, dc into the same stitch and go on till that end of the round. Thanks for watching!
very good instructions -- but you didnt say what weight yarn and what size hook -- i tried one with 4ply and j hook and it was huge -- so made it with 3ply and h hook -- turned out huge! and heavy! -- and i crochet tight -- i recommend 2ply and f hook -- beautiful tho
Someone please help me I'm new to crochet and I am having difficulty seeing what she's doing. I made my hat 80 stitches instead of 88, if that is relevant. I finished the second round (the first round of the fpdc and bpdc) and it looks like she is ending with a front post but mine is ending with backpost? I didn't miss anything or maybe I'm not supposed to do the last one ? Also is that first stitch of round 3 (the single backpost) going directly into the stitch under the needle? Thank you for any advice!
Laura Taylor-Byrne it will fit if you use this pattern it stretches pretty well. It even fit my husbands head and I took 8 stitches out to even make it smaller in the beginning. So I chained 80 instead of 88.
Used Caron Simply Soft ombre medium weight (4) and F hook -- made a slouchy size. I will try a lighter weight yarn for the next hat. When you watch the video, pay attention to the hook if you're not sure of a term she uses.
How to crochet beanie hat was made with yarn:51% Manufactured Fibers - Acrylic, 49% Wool 429 yards (392 meters) 100 grams (3.53 ounces) and a crochet hook 3mm - 4mm (G).

It is not a written pattern. I would, in my opinion, just pause the video after each step and make notes. It is hard but that is how I do it. Hope that helps!
I would also like written instructions, but alas, there do not seem to be any. When I watch the videos, I write down the pattern on a spiral notebook. I rewind or pause if necessary. Hello Ma'am, this beanie pattern of yours is wonderful. I made this beanie following all your instructions as it is. But my beanie turned out too big and loose.

Thanks.
I just finished mine.
I struggle to hear, can you consider either adding captions or writing the pattern down please?
Zijn hier ook boekjes van te koop? Ik vind die Haaksteken heel erg mooi
The hat is beautiful, do you have a afghan pattern for this. Thank you
Sandy Norlock she said in another comment multiples of 8 but idk if there's any additional chains or not? She dont say. 😔
Hi, Thank you so much for this great pattern and amazing visual instruction.
I wonder if you could tell me how can I use the same pattern to make a throw .
working on a flat rows rather than a circle. Thanks
Instead of joining the yard on the first round, keep it open and proceed from there.
The pattern repeats every 9 st so decide how big u want
Then do a small test 19 st
Then measure how many sts per inch
Sts per inch (9 sts) x how big u want it to be
Remember that u need a 9 st repeat
Good luck I think it will be stunning
Oh it is 8 st repeat but add 1 st at the very end only
I have made this hay twice using two worsted weight yarns, one with a J hook and the other with a G hook but unfortunately they have both turned out too big. what kind of yarn are you using and with what size of hook? thanks!
sport or dk weight yarn, and g hook. but you can use the stitch count of 8.
If it is only the brim that is too big try crocheting some shearing elastic (the very thin type that is used in dress making) around the inside , I did it on one that I did before xmas and works fine and it's not visible from the outside.
Pam Phillips thanks for the sound advice, unfortunately the entire piece is too big thanks to the type of yarn I used.
If you click on show more below the video, it lists yarn 100 gr of 3.53 oz and hook 3mm-4mm (G). If work comes out too large, try a smaller hook (maybe F or D). I like this hat and will try it.
Tawnya Pinckney, then it could be a "slouchy" hat if you sew in the thin elastic just around the inside of the brim to fit the head.
wow nice and easy
thought i will be so difficult
thx
kundly confirm me the row 6 first you make 6 double corchete then you make 7 double crochete so we have to go this sequence 6 and 7 .

I would love to make this to for a 23" head, any suggestions? ☺
Laura Taylor-Byrne it's a multiple of 8chains
Try 64 stitches on the brim with an H hook, and if that's too loose, go to a G hook.
Laura Taylor-Byrne it will fit if you use this pattern it stretches pretty well. It even fit my husbands head and I took 8 stitches out to even make it smaller in the beginning. So I chained 80 instead of 88.
Beautiful
Thank you
Love this! What size hook are you using?
Leslie Hay I think she's using a 3.5mm hook
Used Caron Simply Soft ombre medium weight (4) and F hook -- made a slouchy size. I will try a lighter weight yarn for the next hat. When you watch the video, pay attention to the hook if you're not sure of a term she uses.

Is this pattern written out somewhere. I get confused trying to do this watching videos, even though this is very well done.
It is me, not the video.
In the second round IT WAS A ROUND FRONT POST DOUBLE CROCHET AND BACK POST DOUBLE CROCHET(US). Sorry we don't have written pattern, please just look at video tutorial, don't hear it . Or please ask questions
It is not a written pattern. I would, in my opinion, just pause the video after each step and make notes. It is hard but that is how I do it. Hope that helps!
