Every little bit of space makes a huge difference in a little camper, so I opted for fitting the diesel heater under my passenger seat. We then fitted a FORD TRANSIT fuel line into the main fuel tank - which was such a better way to go. It saves heaps of space inside the van - Plus it makes for a much more efficient way to supply the diesel heater with fuel.

I hit a chassis rail as u called it 😭 had to jigsaw the death out of it 😭 gone too far to back out of it after putting hole through the van interior floor 😂
Not criticizing you're doing a great job 👍 you do need something around that fuel pipe on top of the tank. It could do with being in some kind of cover or connected securely to the tank or body work. Lying on top of the tank loose it can rub body work and you know the rest.......
Thanks for your concern we’ll have a second look at it but if it did happen to leak it’s no big deal as it’s a suction pump and would only suck air in no fuel will leak as it’s not under pressure
@@BigVanSmallWorld those high pressure fittings are for fuel vapours just as much liquid,...... The vapours are more dangerous. Ask for it not leaking because it's a vacuum pump, untill the hole is big enough to over come the pump it will leak. There's a good reason why fuel tanks are sealed air tight on a small space between the top of the take and body of a vehicle. What you have done create the potential for a hole at the top of the tank for the sake of a few zip ties 😬😬😬

Did you move the hole away from the weld line? And have inlet/exhaust pipes close to that side of the hole?
Same van same heater but it’s not working out for me like you kindly illustrated
Great video but I certainly wouldn't get underneath that van the way you have it resting on the axle stands on crossmember it isn't safe, I guess you couldn't put them on the chassis due to being in the way to take tank out, I was cringing watching this, at least put an old car wheel or something under the wheels lifted off the ground to at least give you a chance if one of the stands slip which can happen. Mel is it ok, to have the exhaust coming out right under the sliding door, just a thought.
I’m going to be fitting an extra length exhaust pipe to direct it to the other side

Mel, as you have had the fuel pipes off, won't that have let air into the fuel system and perhaps require a bleed ?
Or you could just use the correct length bolts to begin with and then you don’t have to angle grind anything..🤔
All the diesel heaters come with these studs (not bolts) so I’m showing people that they can be shortened and by doing so how much easer it is to install the heater
