Yes, great videos. We made a huge mistake here in Australia about 15 years ago, scrap metal prices went high so all the morons went and got rid of the old cars. Just ridiculous.
Love the content bro!, Breaks my heart seeing all the old commodores lying around. Wouldnt have been worth anything back then i guess but are worth a fortune now!
The engine bay in the Cortina isn't too small for a V8 actually. People have been putting 351 Clevelands in them for years. The Windsor is preferable for it's lightweight and compactness though. 351 Windsor with Boss heads. Nice !!
351W with Clevo heads is about the same weight as a Clevo. 302W is the light engine, The heavy Clevo heads though are problem. Make good power but heavy
hey that lc torana blue one had all its lights an moldings.....crikey it even has a decent front end...not smashed as holden welded them on..no bolts good work
These are *way* past being used in their current state - they're basically rubbish to a layperson; it's different to stealing a car with a set of keys on the seat or something. The owners relinquished their ownership long, long ago, and have probably forgotten about the cars.
The early LC torana with the 138 red motor is actually a rare car. The 138 was a one year only production and a lot of Holden fanatics still deny it ever existed!
Nice to see all those old cars out there, never know what you'd find out in the bush And that's good the torana is being saved, that'll go to a good home hopefully as well, and going off what was shown in the video, i'd go with the cressida as well, the most complete one shown, might have a bit of a damaged roof but wouldn't be too much trouble to fix hopefully. Don't see to many of those about either, so that would make an interesting choice, and the old ve valiant, would be a good bush car too. So the cressida, would be the first choice & the old valiant being the second, both nice old ones there. And who knows what else you might find, we'll see what happens with this project of yours, looking forward to seeing it.
thank you for your support mate, I do hope to get the torana to a good home who can use it. you are so right mate I am always amazed at what I find out here. Just found enough cars to make another video in the last few days, so keep an eye out for that one.
At 8:56 you have a hood and bits and pieces of a late 20's or early 30's car or truck. The hood which has the sides. On early GMC's it would say GENERAL MOTORS TRUCK on the pieces. International also had badging like that. That would be neat to take home. Great video.
Hey mate, long shot but I was wondering if you could point me in the direction of a 2 door Torana shell? Im a kiwi doing up a four door, but would love to do a 2 door. hard to find over here! cheers mate
If you want your channel to take-off keep doing videos like this one and the "pick a part" one as I'm sure there is plenty of people who love to see these old wrecks. Hope you don't mind some advice, but I think you need to get some more keywords in your RUclips titles, descriptions and tags so that RUclips starts recommending your videos to people. I would be putting in all the makes and models from the video as keywords and maybe also things like "barn find" and "junk yard".
There's heaps of old kingswoods and falcons out there used for this sort of thing, I'd like to see the Cressida personally, it would be nice to see something different for a change
If that L300 van is an early model, you can bolt them into many vehicles pretty easily. Cut out the strut towers and you'll fit your 5.4 easily. My XP ute has the mod done. Putting a Clevo 351 in it. (Only coz I have about 11 of them here)
Automotive Karnage on ebay though you will make a ton , people pay good money for parts especially valiant parts on ebay as a lot of its hard to find , that chrome bumper i saw in your video be worth a lump of gold 😉
Back in the late seventies when we traveled east coast to west coast across the desert out past Warburton mission there were old cars for miles, the Aborigines would either breakdown, run out of fuel and just leave them. I bet they are still there. There I will tell you where some are if you want to travel the distance. Not like someone.
@@AutomotiveKarnage yeah I'e seen a few dumped around the place but there cheap to pick one up to (that is a silver or green top) and then get a turbo kit, the Valiant would weigh a lot less than a BA falcon too
I called bullshit on that, until you admitted your Mum drove 4 cylinder versions. I have owned 16 LJ and LCs including 6 genuine XU-1s and numerous GTRs. Plus a couple of bastardised V8 modded. All were reliable and fun. It's odd jumping into one now and feeling the steering offset.
@@xagtlyshe did drive an LJ torona and if she remembers correctly it was a 1.2L and the thing went through hell she lived on a farm that was about a 45-minute drive into town but it was pretty much offroading and it made that trip about twice a day in the summer she did say it was less reliable probably because it was so hot. her brother also had a few LC Tornas and they were much more reliable
@@darrylhansson409 Sorry man , I think you might be right. If memory serves correctly my SLR/5000 (8VD69) did have an L31 engine code. You obviously don’t no anything about cars even though you seem to think u do I have early commodores like you showed in the video and basically said o no it’s commodore not interested etc and bla well I’ve just sold a first generation 1979 commodore for 20,000 and only paid 3,000 for it easy money I’d say
Not sure how I missed this one, Save that Torana!

Can't beat a commodore
Had a HT Premmy Wagon. Still one of my favourite cars
Gotta do more of these wreck hunt videos!
Might have to mate there is plenty more out there I didn't put in this video
Next time you're up north (NT)
Wave Hill station.
Nothing exotic. But lots of clean chrome etc for 70s cars
Stuff you're going to start a new gold rush there some good part just sitting their cheers from NSW.
There is still so much good gear out here alright.
Good on you mate I had heaps to do today now I'm stuck in front of the phone listening to you good job finding the rusty gold
I love mucking up your plans lol.

Out of curiosity what are the legalities of taking these wrecks home?
hey that lc torana blue one had all its lights an moldings.....crikey it even has a decent front end...not smashed as holden welded them on..no bolts good work
@6:00 it's actually a HJ not a HQ
So who owns these bush wrecks ? Are you just able to take the, away like that, no questions asked ??
i don't think anyone is gonna stop you hahaha, they're just abandoned and rotting away in the middle of nowhere

Thanks for the info mate, I might go back and have a look for the logos. I have found a bit of old international gear out here but never GMC stuff.
Did you end up doing anything with the LC Torana? Looked pretty tidy!
I like your Isle Of Man cap 👍
I would be nice to see that Toyota Cressida run again and restored due to it's rarity....

that's a hard shell to find, but you never know.

use the cressida mate :)
Your wish is my command lol. Check out the latest episode.

What price on the ford 500 thanks
I haven’t seen a Toyota Cressida for years, is it possible to rescue this one ?.
Yea man, check out my MX32 build videos.
I bought a BA Fairmont Ghia for $150 in Kempsey.

Peter Anderson who is rebuilding an XC might be interested in those spares you found in the bush. Check his Chanel. Good work by the way !!

Crestida sounds like an awesome name for the Crusader if you do it sounds like your best option
Cressy the crusader?
Am i to assume alot of these were insurance jobs?
Dude , you need a cork hat.
haha and a can of vb well I'm at it too.
You should be stripping some of those parts and sell them on ebay , and post aussie wide

the 5.4 is a 90 degree angle v with over head cams. its really wide compared to even a 351.
our dirt is the best for cars.
thats not a hq mabe hj wrong taillights to be hq
yes definitely here in nz that would sell for a few grand
I can image they would be far and few between over there.
bring the charger home and sell or store for the future

location of cars?
Mid mount the engine in the vallient
