I've known Dave since mid 80s. I saw him play as a teenager thru a small amp and got a crushing sound. Class act, always would help me with guitar, tone, gear questions, whatever. Gifted writer with a great feel for riff and song constrution. One of the most genuine people that I've ever met.

Mushroomhead peaked at XIII, their most cohesive album. I preferred the first 3 albums but Shmotz really stepped back from what made the band sound great pretty much during XIII and it never came back. Saviour Sorrow and Beautiful Stories are probably their 2 weakest albums, even though they are 2/3 Gravy albums... he could inject a lot of riffage but the band was never great because of the guitar parts. Great player, but if the other 6 or 7 parts are lacking, it doesn't come together (as it did for the first 4 albums)

As far as Gravy and you talking about Mushroomhead being a theatrical production and people could fill in those shoes because of the masks, I disagree highly. As them being my all time favorite band, Mushroomheads music went to sh*t once Gravy was fired or whatever along with Pig Benis leaving. TWO ONE SIX was cool. I have that cd, but Mushroomhead is so unique musically. Gravy is in my top 5 guitarists of all time! O always thought he had a great guitar tone. I personally would have loved them touring with Slipknot because I like them aswell. Great music. It would have worked because, at the end if the day, Slipknot is who people are coming for. I went to a "smaller" Slipknot show at the Hollywood Palladium and the only had 1 band, a 90s hardcore band that came back, and it still sold out. I believe the band was called Vision of Disorder. Slipknot would always hand pick their bands for a while, even brought in flames out on their first U.S. tour. After that Palladium show, I noticed they started touring with more mainstream generic acts a lot more.i have a bootleg of the first Slipknot album. I don't hear anything on there that sounds like simpleton, man. Their first track is a slower version of their sing Sic. I also have the first Mushroomhead album. As far as Slipknot copying. I wouldn't really agree. There was the Roadrunner deal, sure, but they had a line up before Roadrunner came into play with the masks. I believe the RUclips channel house of masks made the comparison of the pug masks because Mr. BUNGLE or whoever was tge first bassist to wear a pig mask and would influence both bands. The first vocalist of Slipknot eventually left because, when they recruited Corey, Corey was the superior vocalist and the original guy dipped because his parts were cut short. Corey was definitely recruited from Stone sour along with James Root to come later. Besides maybe a possible bias i puck up on from one huge fan to another, u really appreciate your interviews. I would love to hear Pig Benis. He left the same time, but I couldn't find 1 interview on him explaining why. I thought Gravys lead on YOUR SOUL IS MINE showcased a yastecof his guitar skill, but they've never played it live possible because it's owned by the label since it's on the saw soundtrack

Last I saw them was when they were doing the 3 vocalist thing and it was a little cringe to watch. The music is pretty bad. I bought the last album giving it a chance, but after the 2 singles it was poor writing. I think they attempted to have Jackie as a new Roxy , but it's ehh. @@jeremebonesaw from an interview of Jeff's i listened to a while ago, around the time he left MRH. It sounded like like Jack (Pig Benis) was let go. I believe they said he wasnt that great of a bassist. I'm pretty sure not positive that he was initially a fill in for his brother Joe (Mr. Murdernickel) . Just an OG fan thats tried to keep up with the behind the scenes over the years

@@PROX_PrinceOfTheSewer I've seen him live a fair amount. He held his own and was a great performer. Mrh I'd my favorite band of all time, but I doubt given the music they make, especially now, they need a "great" bass player. I really appreciate your response.

Shroom hasn't been the same in a long time. Savior sorrow was their last great album.

Im only in about 30 mins but I'd love to hear his thoughts on playing alrosa after dime was killed, that's gotta be a strange feeling playing where a fellow bro was killed. Alrosa was their 2nd home stage. To me mushroomhead died when gravy, pig benis, Tom, waylon, lil Dan, nothing left. It's just not the same energy.
