I was never a huge fan of Kirsty but I am glad Shelly left cheers because if she hadn't the series would have been all played out in a year or two. But as it turned out, that change kept the show growing and changing. I think the same thing happened to M.A.S.H.. Nobody wanted Trapper John or McClain Stevenson to leave but if they hadn't, would we have ever discovered Harry Morgan could act? Its not like you could tell from watching Dragnet. And can you imagine MASH without Charles Emerson Winchester, the third?!?!?
When I was growing up, this was mine & my best friend's favorite show. We never missed it. The Diner & Near Mexico are absolute classics.

As a viewer, I was always more entertained by Cindy Williams' character, Shirley. Just my perspective and opinion.
