How many hours does your generator from highschool have so far and do you notice any brake down like wear and tear and did you need to change filter how often?
Hey Charles loved the video, quick question I'm heading into my senior year and I'm thinking of trying the tent out. The question is what altitude you started off sleeping in so your recovery wouldn't have much impact?
Honestly, I started very low (2-3,000 feet) and built up slowly over a period of a couple months and eventually years! The last thing you want to do is compromise your recovery for marginal gains. At the time I purchased mine, I had a personal hypoxico salesman who was able to walk me through the whole process and make sure I did things safely, so I’d shoot them an email and see if that’s something they still offer!
Hey Charles, great vid! I’m considering buying a hypoxico I found for cheap off Facebook marketplace, would breathing through a mask hooked up to the generator and monitoring if my blood oxygen level drops using an oximeter be a good way to check if it works?
Absolutely! Definitely be careful and make sure it doesn’t drop too low. I can’t speak to the comfort level of a mask, but it could definitely be a good way to get the hours in if it works for you!
I have one main question: are you afraid that there will be a malfunction and you will get so little oxygen that you’ll pass out or worse? Is there some kind of independent sensor (not in the machine itself) that test the oxygen levels don’t go down to dangerous levels?
Isn’t the intake tube to stop the build up of co2 in the tent? You breathing o2 in and expelling co2 out of your lungs, we won’t even mention when you bottom burp. 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢 Very interesting video, always wondered about the altitude rents. 👍🏼👍🏼👏🏼👏🏼🫶🏼
Amazing setup. Please add an interview with your girlfriend so she can provide her opinion of hanging out with you in the tent.
😏😳
On it 📝
Live high train low is the goated set up
🤙🙌
Very interesting, I was always curious about how those tents affect physiology.
Love the video! How do you keep heat and humidity down while sitting or sleeping in the tents?
Congrats on 40k!!!!
Thank you!!
Great vlog 🎉. Vit B12 jabs are good for red cell count too btw.

Charles please do another workout video of lifting
I’ll see what I can do! Thanks for the idea!!

You should do a video on nutrition and training!
Great idea! I’ll look into that

This is very interesting, I live at 1600m above sea level 👍. Thanks for sharing

How much was the head tent? Would you do one of the portable tents or deluxe tents or like the tent from Higher Peaks over the head bivy?
when is your olympic trials in the UK? waiting for a video of that!
Hahaha, I have one of those, and at age 45 I can still run a 4:12 mile. I have my treadmill in my tent.
I thought it would be more beneficial for you to sleep in it instead of train
@@greenpenguin3154 i do both!
@@greenpenguin3154treadmill sessions in it would be beneficial too
That’s awesome!
@@charleshicks It's devastatingly difficult to run at 10,000 feet.
I was wondering if you were able to measure an increase in red blood cell count from using the tent?
Charles I am very enthusiastic to find out what's your 800 meter personal best since your main focus is 5k and 10k.
How many hours of sleep do you average per night? Need to teach the youngins (and adults) the importance of sleep for recovery but also everyday life
Love the tent!
And love you!
I just got a tent but an issue I am running into is that the inside of the head tent is extremely hot and hard to sleep in? Any solutions?
Life saver if answered don’t wanna be down 1500 in the hole
I’ve found that pointing the filter head toward my neck/shoulders helps cool me down in the head bivy. But yes, it can get warm at times.
Did you take the tent with you to college dorms?
🔥
so did your roomates make fun of your tent?
Did you live alone at Stanford? I had the original Summit in 2020 and it was unbelievably loud.
That’s a great question: how does it affect people around you?
I wonder what would happen if a power outage occur when you're asleep?
can you put a fan inside the tent?
Would not be smart to put the intake tube on the opposite side of the tent?
