Built a clone Klon pedal, was quite silly about getting the germanium diodes to spec after a lot of research and testing 100s of them. It actually sounds pretty fkn good!
Great playing; great video. Two small suggestions: A closeup of the controls for each different function you’re showing us. I can’t see the settings. Also, is it a Klon or a clone? It looks like a Klon, but you’re saying clone. Thanks
WALT GRACE, try to make a Jeff Beck Klon pedal 3 tips video because Jeff Beck used the Klon with his bridge pickup mostly i what I have heard. John Mayer uses his tube screamer and klon both at the same time
in fact generate 27V from 9. it double the 9 and also generate an -9V for the (-) rail fot OA. on the (+) rail has +18V. so acts as an 27V supply. Klon sound good only with gain al minimum - for really transparent sound, or with gain at 11 a clock - for Jeff Beck sound. with more gain I dont think that someone would like it.
I could never afford a real klon, nor would I buy one if I could- imo there are clones that are better pedals at this point- and they cost a fraction as much. They've captured the tone of the Klon and then added a more potent eq and a high gain option- as well as more headroom. They have a charge pump installed that ups the voltage internally to 18 volts instead of 12V. It's the Tumnus Deluxe by Wampler. You can use it the same ways you use the real one- and it sounds better imo. I think buying a real one at this point is a wise investment- they're just going to keep going up I think- at least for awhile- but you can get the tone without spending an arm and a leg.
Agree I found one at a pawn shop years ago(Yeah i know) it was very well over built and sounded good but not that good! My one regret is selling it before the hype. Everything else has caught up tonewise if that floats your boat. They are for Lawyers and Orthodontists and Rock Staws at this point.
@@andrewclemons8619 Haha Maybe. I like the Tumnus Deluxe. That has extra gain. So the Klon is a hard clipping circuit, so basically it is distortion. With added gain, it works well as a distortion.
Wish we could have seen the settings.
Incredible playing my guy.
Good option. Klon is not transparent. yes it’s clean. But does. Have a signature sound to it
Why didn't you show the settings on the pedal for each tip?
Looks like they forgot?? If you pause the video when they have the drawings you can kind of see the settings.
@@alphanuevo good spot 👍
Beautiful playing!!!!

Great Amp, beast of pedal and guitar!!! Imposibble to sound BAD!!!
12v is double 9v?

My only tip would be to not call it a clone.
Its not a clone.
Its notaklon
I think that’s his accent

You have to turn the gain to maximum.
You're wild man

Buena Seba
The hump is not at all in the low mids. It’s around 1KHz.
Sound like ds1
There is no possible way to increase 9v to 12v, what on earth are you talking about?
First way is to not use it at all
Edgy
That’s def one way to use it
