    This is legit. Especially if you come from a higher level tennis background and want to get good at pickleball fast. After playing my first pickleball match, the soft game pissed me off. So I built a wall at my house and for 3 months (hour a day) did nothing but this stuff before I played again. Having a high level tennis background the power and drives and overheads were the same, but this is how you fast track your drops, dinks and soft game…if you havent formed pickleball relationships yet to drill. I now have a good group of 4.5+ guys who meet each week to hit..and if I hadn’t done this, I would be stuck banging with low level players.

    Tried the drills last night. Love it! Shall get some painter's tape to put on the wall. But love the overhead drills anyways, it really gives me a good workout

    Thanks for answering questions I had, such as how to drill in different spots and where to aim. I need work on placement and wall drills to same spot weren’t helping. Thanks!!!

    Another helpful video. I didn't even think about overheads to the ground BEFORE the wall. Thank you.

    Great video and drills thank you so much. The only one that I’m afraid to commit to is the overhead drill- could practicing aiming before the wall so that you can get repetitions have a danger of grooving your shot short of the net ?

    Thanks for this helpful video. For the overhead drill, I love the optimization of body alignment tips plus the target on the ground that'll make sure that ball bounces back ready for you to smash it again; however, given that you don't have a net in front of you for this drill, how do you know that you won't develop a bad habit of smashing below 11 o'clock into the net in a real game? Thank you, @sheaunderwood!

    Excellent video. Very descriptive way of demonstrating how to practice against a wall.
    I feel that the shoulder and hip height targets are somewhat high as the opponent would be squatting.
    Also, the distance to the wall should not be less than 7 feet.
    Thanks

    • @sheaunderwood
      @sheaunderwood  5 месяцев назад

      You have to remember that your opponents are also 7 feet “behind” the wall, so the ball likely slows before it gets to them.
      Distance to the wall has to be less than 7 feet because the ball won’t go back to you. If you try dinking 7 feet away from the wall, you’ll never get more than 2 in a a row.

    Also, Shea, it'd be great if you can let us know what the pros and cons of using wall drills vs machines like Erne/Titan drills and which one is better for which type of drills and why. Thank you!

      The major benefit is that I don't need to bring a machine into a court, which would sound crazy (too serious) to my neighbors who walk by. Otherwise I think a ball machine would be more efficient.

    Why not hit a lift dink to the middle? While you said that a cross-court dink is usually a push dink cross court;; Isn't it true that at times you will hit a rest dink to the middle? A lift dink middle could represent that.
