Great job on the torches. They're awesome. I have an old C&L blow torch that seems to hold pressure. Think on cleaning it and get it running. Nice torches, none the less. Thanks for sharing.
Hi Max Lin, two very nice small Lenk blowtorches, it is nice seeing these small lenks working as I have not seen one here lit before and I am quite impressed with the flame on the gasoline model
This is common for butane or propane-fuelled gas torches, but it has also applied to older, large liquid paraffin (kerosene) torches such as the Wells light. Many torches now use a hose-supplied gas feed, often mains gas. They may also have a forced air supply, from either an air blower or an oxygen cylinder.
in cap just Alcohol for Preheating. inside of tank taller one is Alcohol lower one is white gasoline. you need preheat the torch 1~2mins. then it will begin to spew fire😃😃😃
Fuel torches are used in a vast range of sizes and output power. The term blowtorch is applied to the smaller and lower temperature ranges of these. Blowtorches are typically a single hand-held unit, with their draught supplied by a natural draught of air. Larger torches may have a heavy fuel reservoir placed on the ground, connected by a hose.
Is there a wick inside the alcohol storage base on your torch. Mine is in great condition and functions but doesn't hold much fuel so it won't burn for long. There is a blue/white wick in base not sure if thats normal
Early blowlamps used liquid fuel, carried in a refillable reservoir attached to the lamp. Modern blowtorches are mostly gas fuelled. Their fuel reservoir is disposable or refillable by exchange. The term 'blowlamp' usually refers to liquid-fuelled torches, and is still used in the UK. Liquid-fuelled torches are pressurised by a piston hand pump, gas torches are self pressurised by the fuel's evaporation.
I have a lenk gasoline torch as shown in this video. Can't get it to work. preheat it but it just shoots out a constant stream of liquid fuel???Any suggestions
The orficies are different sizes in the alcohol one vs the gasoline one .. Id know. The alcohol ones are used on farms for soldering. Several sizes of lenk torches exist w brass or steel tank. Btw. The alcohol ones run best w denatured alcohol
Both of these larger and more powerful designs are less commonly described as blowtorches, the term blowtorch usually being reserved for the smaller and less-powerful self-contained torches. The archaic term 'blowpipe' is sometimes still used in relation to oxy-acetylene welding torches. ^.^
Thank for the demo. I have recently aquired a little which has no pump. I noticed yours says gasoline on the side of it : no 1 is that normal motor vehicle gas that is used for it? No 2 what if my one is meant to run on some other fuel and I put gasoline into it .. cod it explode?
From what i can tell, you light alcohol soaked asbestos in the little tray around the pipe that comes out of the fuel tank, because the heat gets transferred downward to the tank the heat vaporizes the alcohol/gasoline which pressurizes the tank and when you open the valve, the alcohol/gasoline vapor quickly escapes the tank outward the pipe and when you light it, the small holes on the nozzle feed oxygen to the flame which in turn increases the temperature of the flame. One question though, once you've pressurized the tank, is it required to keep the asbestos lit, or can the heat from the nozzle vaporize the fuel? i know it's a long way from the nozzle to the tank, but alcohol/gasoline doesn't require a high heat to turn into vapor.
+Hak Kar I've just aquired a Lenk torch and am trying to figure out how it works. Is there supposed to be an orifice or hole for the fuel to escape behind the burner tube? I don't see one...
For other meanings, including oxy-gas torches, see Blowtorch (disambiguation). An old-fashioned kerosene blowtorch / blowlamp A blowtorch, or blowlamp (UK usage, else rare or archaic), is a fuel-burning tool for applying flame and heat for various applications, usually metalworking.
Got my hands on a sievert benzoline torch with no pump. I'm assuming that's an old word for petrol, and I'm good for using petrol or is denatured alcohol better?
The pre-heating causes alcohol/gasoline to pressurize in the tank since heat is transmitted down from the valve to the tank. Alcohol and gas has low evaporation temperature so it expands easy.
Max Lin You could have just used cotton, true? I just purchased one similar, mine is a Turner with the cup. Not sure if mine is correct as the valve rod has no needle. I think it should have a needle on end so that it could poke into the tiny hole that allows gas to escape. I pushed very small needle tip into hole to clear out old sludge and got some action, but it does not work right yet. Flame is weak and I think because the hole is still blocked up. Could you tell me if there is suppose to be a needle on the end of the screw in rod valve? It is the only thing that makes sense to me, else how would the valve work...?
I have a small lenk gasoline blowtorch what's the safest way to use it? It doesn't have a pump. I've had it for years but I could never figure out how it works
in fact both can using white gasolin. but the biger one you can find there are three holes on the pipe.(this is design for alcohol fuel using) the small one you can find only two holes on the pipe(this is design for white gasoline fue using)
shexdensmore the heating pan size is no different for preheating. but sure biger longer one can have more efficiency preheating and shorten the preheating time little.

Heating borax
These are so cool! There are several for sale around here, I think that I might purchase one and see if it works! Maybe try to restore it... 🙌💯
A wax blowtorch would be nice 🤔

That's nice how about filling us in on what was in the cap ..what's in the tank ...how long did you let the tray burn and why etc

Strange...my torch has the burner tube of a gasoline, but the preheat pan of the alcohol. Did Lenk make different versions, I wonder?
Is different versions I guess

seems preheat not enough try preheat longer
Do the torch nozzles ever clog up?
I have “Craftsman” that looks identical to those except the tag.
It has alcohol tag as well. Can i run it on white gas ? (Coleman fuel )

Dear Sir if using normal gas will get more carbon deposition. White gasoline is better for using. The spray jet try keep clean No explode chance.

I just bought a tall one like you have. What do you use for packing in the round primer dish?
Dear friend please don’t mind the white stuff . It just glass fiber for keep alcohol avoid splashing. Don’t affect and helpful for preheat process!
Got my hands on a sievert benzoline torch with no pump. I'm assuming that's an old word for petrol, and I'm good for using petrol or is denatured alcohol better?
denatured alcohol still can light the torch
. We light this torch for fun. are not used for welding. so its ok. 😃😃😃
It is Asbestos. easy for heating it will such the Alcohol. ^^
😃😃😃🥰
Dear Sir,
The function has this old torch, I'm thinking melting metals like gold, silver, copper. is capable of melting metals? thanks
What creates the pressure in these small torches? (I see no pump.) is maybe hot enough to braze steel with bronze wire?

what gaz go inside in what is white thih you have inside the top
Very nice indeed.
Could i use a new butane torch to warm up the vaporizer tubes
I recently got one at an estate sale, new old stock, never used!
It’s great great great treasure!!!!!!
will go back ti estate sale, they have bigger ones too that you prime (pump). Will get a few for display and use.
@@ronitsingh85 wow amazing 😍😍😍
What fuel i should use to heat it first?
@HectorCarrera-ol7lq denatured alcohol
Very nice
anyone know how to repair the needle in one of these or were to get a new stem
New needle stem... so difficult only from ebay maybe.
I suggest tin solder by yourself. ^^
What is the white "stuff" you put in the circular reservoir at around :30 into the video?
is Asbestos. for avoid driping Alcohol everywhere when preheating

RJSoftware2000 it have a needle on top. if yours missing the valve can't work
RJSoftware2000 q
can i use denatured alcohol as fuel for these kind of blow torch?
sure sure sure
I have a small lenk gasoline blowtorch what's the safest way to use it? It doesn't have a pump. I've had it for years but I could never figure out how it works
in the video I showing put little Alcohol first for preheating is Necessary.
then you can light up ^^
No need pump!!
@@3141madmaxassume can't use kerosene instead as it's not enough preasure?
@@watosmate8935 Different volatility oil have different nozzles! Not yet try. Please if you test that let me know the Research results
I just tried to light this with gas, it had Stabil in it. WOuld that have made a difference?
It was also in a very cold/ if not freezing garage.
Bunun yakiti nedir
you cab use the White Gas Camp Fuel for Use in Gasoline Stoves and Lanterns, or pocket warmar fuel😃
ok, i use lamp oil as fire starter and it emits too much carbon, what do you think the best to use?
using the alcohol or denatured alcohol to preheating the torch is better for any lamp, stove ^^ its cleaning , no carbon,... ^^
Methanol
So, what type of fuel did you use for the gas toarch?
in fact both can using white gasolin. but the biger one you can find there are three holes on the pipe.(this is design for alcohol fuel using) the small one you can find only two holes on the pipe(this is design for white gasoline fue using)

Will the ambient room temperature affect it also?
sure sure sure ^^
top is Asbestos. easy for heating it will such the Alcohol. ^^
inside have two kind fuel high one is alcohol inside short one is white gasoline
yes yes yes I think so.. you can see from web. From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
You type "Blow torch"
