    This beer is what we call in France "bière de clodo" (hobo beer); it's the kind of strong and cheap stuff that comes in 50cl cans and are bought by alcoholics on a budget... Amsterdam Maximator, Atlas and 8.6 (yes, the name is literally just the abv) are in the same category and are quite famous for being those kinds of beers. As you said, sadly people who drink this are often in a bad situation (hence the name we give these beers in France).
    Thankfully, we also have decent beer and wine...

      In the UK the equivalent would be Tenants super, White Lightning cidre, a bench drinking alcohol I guess. Cheers.

      If you just want ABV, isn't French cheap wine a better bet?

    • @martinkirsch5969
      @martinkirsch5969 Год назад +1

      @@simontmn Some people will buy cheap wine, others will buy beer, both are quite popular.
      But beer makes you drunk more quickly because of the CO2 gas present in it.
      CO2 and sugar accelerate the mechanism that makes you drunk, they deliver alcohol more quickly into your blood. That's why sweet and carbonated alcoholic beverages (like beer, champagne, cocktails, etc.) make you drunk more quickly compared to still wine or spirits (despite the higher ABV in wine and spirits). And people tend to drink more slowly when the abv is higher.
      So people who really want to get drunk quickly may prefer beer. And a 50cl can of beer is cheaper and easier to transport than a 75cl bottle of wine (or a box).

      There's plenty of Belgium beers that are 10% and taste great. Likewise there's beers from the same company as this one, that taste great at 8.5% (Goudale, as highlighted in the video).
      The strange obsession with 'light beers' in the UK, i find very American. Drinking a 3.5% beer feels like I might as well be drinking full fat coke for all the 'buzz' it gives but good luck finding anything over 6.6% for less than £3 a can in a supermarket.
      Belgium is all you can get but I got bored of drinking Duvel/Le Chouffe and resented paying £3+ for the same IPA taste over and over in the w**kcan section. So ironically I've been drinking Karpackie 9% which the reviewer also has a video on where he seems to frain overreaction for views as well. Why? Because it's cheap (£1.65) and tastes fine (6/10). I find the strength to be a benefit. You don't have to drink as much. You can get the pleasant buzz from one can drunk slowly, instead of downing 4 and save money (and less overall calories as well). It's the difference between drinking espresso vs a vat of weak americano.

    4 cans of this is the same as about 8-9 cans of normal 5% lager!
    I'm not sure if anyone could stomach 4 cans of it!

    • @Forestgravy90
      @Forestgravy90 11 месяцев назад

      it's actually much stronger and more potent because your body will break down an average of 1 unit per hour, so if you drink for example a 5% lager with 2.2 units, an hour later you'll have 1.2 units in your system. If you drink a carling/fosters type with 1.6 units, you'll only have 0.6 units in the same timeframe left. So you are actually twice as drunk on the stronger beer. Now factor in a 12%, absolute chaos.

    I believe that this beer had at some point 15% abv. That’s a strong beer. I don’t know if the higher the abv the better the beer would taste.I’ve had the Kerel Kaishaku from Belgium which has 15% abv as well, it was very boozy but It wasn’t as tasteful as I’d expected.
