It was these kind of challenges that I hated , rather than just rack up 3 disarms over time. It really broke from immersion to run around completing nonsensical tasks like this one.
At least it's better than the ones that are 100% luck - like winning blackjack with 5 cards.

Do u not know how to use the save
You can’t say a word or your voice will help them identify you. That’s another way you get bounties while wearing a mask. Just draw on his chest area and let him say whatever. Wait for him to draw his gun on you, don’t rush the shot cause he will NOT shoot at ya. He’s just gonna assume the same threatening posture you’re taking. Thats when you shoot his gun or hand. Take your time. Don’t rush your aim cause you have plenty time to adjust your aim. I did it with a 6 round revolver. I completed the challenge with 4 rounds left in the chamber.

2.for me it was random chance I had one bullet left and I was able to get the last guy while concentrating the 2nd guy though did do what you said the other 2 were a little more ticked off from that.
The 3rd time I went through the barn I accidentally climbed the ladder and holstered my weapon 🤦🏼♂️🤬
A tip for everyone else: the little enemy gang camps that pop up throughout the world will respawn immediately with all of their inhabitants alive if you leave at least one of them alone, ride away until the red on the edge of your radar is gone, and go back. It's good for getting the stealth arrow kills quickly as well as a few weapons challenges - particularly if you don't want to use civilian NPCs and lose the honor.

I have tip for you, just use bow and deadeye it deosn't count as a reload because you can't reload a bow, but make sure you have enough arrows because if you change type of arrows it will be counted as a reload. Remember USE BOW!

I know I shot a delobo twice in the hand and they still had their guns
Yeah, every time I try to disarm them they hold onto it like it's glued to their hand and by the time my third or fourth bullet hits their arm they die.

I disarmed the first one and immediately mounted my horse to lose the wanted level. Did the same method thrice in a row and completed the challenge. Just make sure to NOT holster your current weapon whilst escaping.

Heads up to anyone still doing this challenge. If you're struggling to find enemies in the epilogue, don't waste your time with the del lobos. They just straight up almost never drop their guns, I don't know why. So go to hanging dog ranch, take a lancaster. Walk right up to the front gate, they'll start aiming and shooting. I tried this place, it took me a few minutes and I got it done. They drop their weapons almost instantly every time. Just make sure not to reload in the middle like my dumbass kept doing.
TIP: for this challenge and most of the sharpshooter challenges you can use the varmint rifle

Done this is 30 seconds shooting random people riding horses with poison arrows🤷♂️

Attempt 1: everyone in that stockyard had a gun

Well, I tried this challenge today for the first time. All I did, was max out Dead Eye core and yellow circle before going in saloon in Van Horne, I placed myself in the the corner of the saloon to the left of the entrance, facing most of the patrons. I was in First person view (not third) Pointed my Midnight's pistol loaded with express ammo. Turned dead eye on as soon as one guy draw his weapon... mark his hand and waited for another 2 guys to draw their weapons mark their arms(gun) than release the shot . Ran like hell out of the saloon. Bunch of them ran after me, stole a horse and left the area until they stopped searching me. I only had to reload my save once. Got killed the first time I tried and did it on my second try. Wasn't very hard at all, then again I don't play with a controller but with mouse and keyboard, so it's much easier to aim with precision and shoot multiple enemies in one dead eye use.
This was the only method that actually helped me!!! Thank you! I went into the left corner, aimed my volcanic pistol at a guy, waited til at least two guys took out their weapons and marked their hands as well as a third. After that I ran out to my horse and rode away.

Been stuck on this challenge for ever and this video helped me get it done in ten minutes. Thanks
the best no bounty for me was in the heartlands. there is a rancher who lives in a cave type hobbit home. confront him & disarm him. on the opposite side there is another ranch where you usually can find ox. confront 2 of 'em and disarm. I did it on the very 1st hour of morn. the ranch guys just woke up with coffee in hands. Use lancaster repeater. 14 rounds. so you'll have enough rounds to expend.
Ah the goat farmer. Probably the most killed/harassed npc for me. No end to the fun i have with this fellow. Sometimes i like to sit on his bed when hes out and he comes in the door and goes mad.

Poison arrows! I tried everything but nothing ever worked. However, poison arrows worked like a charm.

Oh thanks dat works. Just simply shot 3 guys with weapon with poison arrows. Don't even have to aim their arms. Much easier than this video

I find the easiest way to do it is to find a group of three guys on horseback out in the wilderness, lasso them off their horses, and go for critical gut shots. They’ll drop their weapons and run off and it will count towards the challenge.
And if you have a bounty you can set up a camp, go to sleep, and then about 6 or 7 bounty hunters will come. Kill all of them except for 3 and do what you said
Edit: and you can also visit van horn saloon, everyone there has a gun. And you won’t get witnesses as much

there's also another method go to cornwalls factory, and shoot the guard's rifles out of there hands shoot the butt of the rifle and they drop it I recommend the Lancaster repeater with the scope.

I’m not a patient person or good at games and 3 hrs of trying different suggestions I gave up, went to bed and found this video I know this is 4yrs old but it still worked great!
I tried the poison arrows
I tried the varmint rifle
I tried the long scoped rifle
I went to hanging dog ranch, Heartland oil fields, npc on the roads, O’Driscoll gangs couldn’t do any of them!
Shooting the revolver from a man at the Valentine farm/live stock auction was the quickest and easiest way.
Don’t try shoot NYC’s with the bigger guns it’s hopeless and annoying!
It did take me couple tries because Arthur kept holstering his gun but it was because I was waiting on the law to ride off when I could/should have been going straight back once the wanted level was away.

Thank you for pointing out that we cannot use the dead eye after the 1st disarment. For anyone worries about bounty I find a good location for this with no bounty: Butcher Creek (across the little bridge). And no I am not worried about Arthur's honour in this play through
Edit: Others in the comment suggest Van Horn is also a good place however I find the people there are generally quite good shooters. I rather want my opponents to shoot like stormtroopers... And whoever comes up with the idea of using poison arrows is a genius
The same challenge can be done in a different way too. And I believe that this one is a tad bit easy as it neither creates a bounty nor the lawmen investigate the area.
1. Go to Fort Wallace.
2. Maintain a considerable distance from the fort. Stay outside the red area.
3. Equip bandana or any mask.
4. Equip Lancaster Repeater with any kind of ammo. (Standard will do)
5. Do not dismount your horse as it will be difficult to complete the challenge.
6. Slowly approach the front side of the Fort Wallace. You will see a guard holding a rifle and keeping guard.
7. Go close enough so that you can see his gun or make out that he is holding his rifle or repeater.
8. Do not greet or antagonise the guard. Scope in with your repeater and shoot the gun off the guard hand or shoulder.
9. After doing so, ride away from the place till the red dots on the map disappears. Keep in mind do not dismount or use deadeye after disarming the guard for the first time.
10. After the dots disappears, repeat the process again till you succeed the challenge.
This one, I believe, is much easier and less time consuming.

I know I’m a bit late but what I did took about 45 seconds. I shot the rifle stocks of the heartlands oil guards weapons from a hill with a Lancaster repeater scoped and express ammo. If done right you should be able to hit one, ride off about 100 feet and come back and repeat the process.
For anyone having trouble go to the Cornwall tar factory, shoot the but of the guards gun with a scoped weapon. I used the Lancaster, do not reload. When he reacts run up the hill until the red marker disappears, then run back down, he’ll respawn in the same place and do over 3 times. Make sure to get close to have a good shot but not too close.

Here in 2024 to say that this worked for me first try! I’m a very experienced player but never completed this challenge, I don’t believe. I saw on Reddit to try using a lower powered weapon like Varmint Rifle, that did not work at all. I saw another video saying to walk up to some dudes in Van Horn and dead eye them all at once. But I was near Valentine so I tried this and worked right away. Just follow the instructions in the video properly and no problem. Thanks dude 🙏

This worked perfectly for me, for anyone that gets bounties remember that you must avoid the law at all costs so run away every time you shoot and make sure any sherif leaves the area before you return.

Fort Wallace is a good place to do this. Just take cover behind the rock outside near the entrance and shoot their arm. After getting it, hop on your horse and get outa there. Took two tries for me.

This still works 4 years later, though I always had to look around for someone with a gun. The man standing right there almost never had one.
I’ve done this challenge and after the second time I disarm the guy about 10 lawmen spawn and chase me down and because I can’t get on my horse there’s no escaping them

Worked perfectly. Only annoying thing is after the first shot 15 cops were waiting for me outside the barn door. Had to run basically 10 miles

Just follow as the guide says but instead of wasting time going back and forth, find 3 people and aim your gun and as soon as they pull theirs out activate dead eye and shoot it out of their hands. For me only 2 of the 3 pulled out guns so after I shot theirs out I found somebody that hadn’t run away and aimed my gun till they pulled theirs out but this time didn’t activate dead eye as it would’ve reset, shot it out of his hand ran away with no bounty and it counted as 3.
I always ride to Van Horn. No law. Target rich environment.
There are generally a group of three plus cats chilling outside.
Point weapon of choice at them and deadeye when they go red.
Pop. Pop. Pow. Challenge completed.
(Poisoned arrows also work. Aim center mass. They drop the weapon as they lay dying)

Carcano rifle, Fort Mercer, guy at the gate…did it less than 1 minute! (saw a video, not my idea)
Shoot his gun while he’s standing still and you’re undetected, run away until they’re no longer shooting at you. Repeat 3 times!

Just go to Fort Mercer as John (or Arthur if you glitch your way to New Austin). A guard out front is carrying a repeater, which is easier to disarm. But, if you want to do the challenge as Arthur and don’t want to glitch your way to New Austin, just use a bow because you can’t reload it, so deadeye will be allowed.

This can be very frustrating. Everything was going well after my second disarm then Arthur climbed up a boulder and it holstered the gun.
I hate the auto climb in this game... It always ruins the immersion. Omg look at this corpse laid out on the table... LEMME JUST STEP ALL OVER IT, THERE! 🤦♂️

This works great. One tip, as someone else has said, use a bow (regular arrows). That way you can use deadeye and it won't reset it.

Thank you. I was having no luck using scoped rifles at gang hideouts. This works so much easier with a pistol than with a rifle. I used the Mauser (10 bullet capacity) and had no problem.

Thanks a lot, this was a good strategy, especially after my nervous hand finally figured how to aim at their shooting hand without Dead Eye.
Lol I like how the NPC said "it's over" at the end, now they can read our minds lol
I used another way to beat it. I go to fort Wallace with a Lancaster and use scope to shoot the arm of the one at gate. They will in the end all pop up on top of the gate and they don't hit you often at a distance. So with 14 bullets, you can complete this challenge.
I just waited till them damn o'Driscolls tried to ambush me and used deadeye on 3 arms, worked real good.
This worked perfectly, the guys not always alone though. It actually helped the first time because I got 2 then waited a short while, went back and he was alone. Voila! Whole thing took me 10 min once I got to valentine.
Game has had a few updates, remember to aim your weapon regularly because the game will just holster your weapon for no reason if you aren’t doing anything with it.
I went to the hanging dog ranch, took a rifle with scoope and shot one guard so he drop's his weapon. Then I run away from the area on foot, went back and shot the same guy. One more time and you're done. Took me like 4 minutes, I would say this is the best way to do it.
If you’re struggling with this, get into a big gun fight go into deadeye and mark 3 targets arms. Since u going into deadeye was technically your last reload, if you disarm 3 enemies it works
Well even with out deadeye I shoot someone in arm like 3 times they don't drop their weapon and run just holding their arm and shooting and then if I try again they die on the shot to arm
@@proto6299ame. Their guns are glued to the hand. Everybody, every chance I get, randoms, gangs, side quests, storylines…… I just spent two hours shooting hands and didn’t get a single one.
I tried all the other listed tips: just use a bow, craft 14 split shells for your repeater so that it doesn’t reload and you can use a bunch of deadeye. Nothing worked. I watched another video where this guy did it and I got it first try. Only works if your in epilogue I think cause you need access to new austin.
Come into fort mecer from the ne and stop at the crossroads by the rock. Your carcano rifle holds seven rounds and has a good scope. Sit on your horse by the rock and scope aim to the guy in front of fort mercer’s hand. Fire. Run away on your horse about 100 yards or so and walk back up and do it two more times!

What I did I antagonize three men with guns they draw I use deadeye Mark there hands and shoot it works

Yeah this method works perfectly - although I don’t think it’s necessary to go inside the barn every time. There’s plenty of NPC’s walking around Valentine strapped so you can just wait for one walking past the barn. Sometimes in the barn the armed NPC will spawn with another NPC next to him which can make things more difficult.

This method is impossible with a high bounty the 2nd time i disarmed him there was law everywhere!
I don’t even have any bounties, and when I enter that barn the area was clear but as soon as I disarmed him the cops spawned right in front of the barn fucking hell, this is the shitiest challenge there it

Easiest way to do this. I messed it up the first time I attempted it so I started again and got it easily! ☺️ these challenges are a PAIN but I’m determined to get 100% lol
I recommend going to Van Horn. Because A) you wont get a wanted level. And B) There's a shit load of people there. The only thing i would recommend is using a health tonic level 2 or 3 on you and your horse. Cause once you complete the challenge the whole town tries to kill you.
Shooting the Hanging Dog Ranch guard holding the rifle 3 times while on horseback works better. It's faster too because you just have to ride away and back each time, shooting him in the arm or gin with a scoped weapon.
Literally the best way to do this challenge don’t look at other methods this one is so easy

this worked great, and i actually got attacked by the law but i accidently did the third disarm on a lawman and then i also did the sharpshooter 9 challenge after this one right away on lawmen so thank you!

Of all the challenges, this is the only one other than the dinosaur bones that I actually had to get help with. This is a pain in the ass.
I completed this very easily in Fort Wallace. Just ride near the wall and when the soldiers come out, disarm them. They won't follow u, but just stand in the same place, so piece of cake.
Completed this really easily and took 2~3 mins only. No bounty. (But can lower the honor if u kill a soldier)
You can mount your horse without holstering but you need to do it slowly
thanks bro, this is the fastest way to do this stupid challenge. for those who are commenting that this is hard and impossible to do, this only took me around 5 mins cuz all you need is patience, and it is really impossible to accomplish this challenge if you are furious or frustrated lmao. and what happened to me is the town went on lockdown so i ran to carmody bell and did the same thing to bob crawford

This was really helpful. Didn't know about all those hidden rules concerning dead eye etc. Found the first three people I could after watching this bid and it worked perfectly. Though instead of going back and forth in Valentine I just walked down Van Horn's main street and shot it up... for the umpteenth time.
i figured it out in a FEW SECONDS: use a varmint rifle on a group of enemies, try to conserve ammo, have high health and SHOOT THE ARMS TRUST ME
Easiest way to do this challenge:
Go to the Valentine (ranch area), approach someone from behind who's standing still and don't let the guy see you, then shoot the gun on a holster few meters away, run/ride outside town so the law doesn't search you.
Then just do the same two more times :)
Took minute or 2, super easy.
People on the other thread has confirmed this still works just fine.
One way I did it was by using the Euphoria mods that enable more realistic injuries to npcs, so that way it was more common for them to drop their weapon and bleed out. And the critical spots were more common so I got it done pretty easy
thanks for that. 50% of the "challenges" in this game are frankly idiotic thanks to dumb game mechanics. Thats the problem when they use developers whose balls havent even dropped yet. I still cant get a moose to spawn in the moose spawn spots, there are NO moose in my game apparently, but Rockstar want me to kill 4 more (that dont exist) to complete the last of the trapper clothing. Sleep, look, reload game, look, reload, sleep, Camp, sleep, look, reload, look, sleep some more.. great "game play". Worst and best game ever all rolled in to one.
I was doing the scavenger challenge near rhodes.... used an herbivore bait. A freaking moose spawned and ate it. It is really broken.

I managed to do this method for the first guy but the law was everywhere when I did it for the second guy. I was able to get the third one done by shooting at one of the cops as they were attempting to gun me down. Of course I ended up with a $10.00 bounty but it was worth it to get this challenge out of the way.
got it done by going to van horn starting a shootout and getting all of them in one alley (left side of saloon) then shooting all of their weapons out of their hands with one dead eye use.
Try to lose sight of them when you enter the saloon so they wont notice you leave through the back entrance, then get spotted in the alleyway, run back inside and go through the front door and hope they're grouped up enough.

I recommend doing this challenge in van horn in the bar since everyone is up against each other making it easier
Nothing worked for me, except van horn saloon. I think the reason it works because they just unholstered their weapons and the faster you shot their hands, the faster they drop it. If they have it in hand already, it sticks to their hands and don’t drop it, only dead. Van horn, put my back into the wall and as soon as first one unholstered his weapon, dead eye, mark his hand and another 2 that just took their weapons, mark them too and start shootting. Make a save just before entering, if you don’t succeed at first, reload.
