I was wondering why she was spirit arcanist (since most spirit arcanists tend to be ghosts or, Spirits, or in general their spirit is otherwise detached from their body) but it all makes sense now with how those ladies spoke of her singing through "channeling"
Whether they mean channeling to be literally channeling the spirits of the deceased or channeling the "spirit" of the characters i don't know, but it brings another meaning to her final line... "all of these interpretations are 'me', doctor." Because by channeling all those different spirits, they truly are all her (as she is the vessel holding them all)... i love her already

@@riosw yep, out of the spirit arcanists there are currently we have click (ghost) poltergeist (ghost) a knight (spirit missing a body) twins sleep (one spirit inhabiting two bodies) and ms. radio (bluepoch's messenger character lol) So definitely a clear reoccurring pattern there
1:08 I feel that the play she’s starring in here is Salome by Oscar Wilde based on the costume. It’s a story where the Princess of Judea was rejected by a holy man and danced in exchange for his severed head as her prize.
You can google to see the similarity between the costumes. I know it from the manga Kasane where the MC (my pfp) played it.
In fact, there’s a picture of Wilde himself being in that costume it’s great 👍🏻

I like the butterfly reference which resembled Thanatos and the soul of the death.....the depression on her because of death
They may also symbolize Psyche, the goddess of soul too since Isolde's arcane is about channeling spirit with her as the medium
The fact that a chinese gacha game is willing or able to depict electroshock therapy is wild. Literally the reason R1999 stands out so much in this overflooded market. I can only wish it continued success

@@777xnjI think they mean, that China doesn’t usually portray mental illness in their media. I don’t want to sound ignorant, maybe it’s my lack of knowledge but mental illness isn’t really approved of in China and many countries.

Ah yes the arcanist racism theme is consistent, i love it, as a story point ofc. But god does it boils my blood how everytime a character achieve something, people just accuse them of being an arcanist and racism ensued
Since reverse 1999 is philosophically more mature, perhaps it’s to reflect reality.
Pointing out how successful people who the public doesn't like get accused of being arcanists makes me think it's more akin to homophobia, more than anything else. After all, we've seen countless artists, politicians and thinkers who had great ideas and who were either shamed or straight up erased (both in the sense of getting killed and from history) after being accused of being gay, like Oscar Wilde, Sappho (though that was also sexism), Victor Hugo (even though there was no proof he was ever infatuated with a man), Qu Yuan, and so on.
So I feel like that's closer, if we want to see something that's akin to reality (of course, it's racism in universe)

I feel like she's indeed a villain, but she seeks experience and interest rather than completion. If she were to join Arcana, she'll be nothing but a tool to accomplish Manus Vindictae goals. However with Marcus offering Foundation's hand and that she'll be assigned to help Vertin, she's guaranteed to travel afar, see different places around the world, the people, arcanists, cultures and history. I think that's why she ends up being playable to us.

Isolde less likely to join Arcana, unless Arcana herself decide to join Vertin. She become playable, means she joins Vertin in the end

I have a theory about Isolde’s kit( since we haven gotten it yet, I think) since she has 4 different outfits and there are mentions of different personas or stages she’s played on. her kit could be something like she changes into different outfits during the battle and changes how she works based on different prerequisites (how many enemies or allies are there are, how much hp she has or what buffs or debuffs she has, etc) it would make her a little hard to use but would allow for some interesting strategies.
tldr; kanjira but to a 100, and a little harder to use.

but on a serious note with the electrotherapy i really hope they explore the discrimination women faced during those time periods...the desperation for perfection through performing and tightnening the corset, and how mental illnesses especially in women were treated as hysteria that have to be 'cured' through torture like she went through. a lot of potential; I wouldnt mind if she became a sympathetic antagonist similar to Jessica who has screws loose but I'd love to see them tackle the aspect of mental illness during a time period it was never thought as a real issue
I don’t support women’s wrongs, but I do respect their rights (source: I’m female). But honestly, no one should support wrongs to any one group, bc that would be sexist. I believe in true equality for all, men, women, non-binary, whatever.
@@TheXIIWizard dont take my intial comment seriously lmao I meant it as in women can be depicted as complex and not always morally right and shouldn't be hated since its very common for male characters to be adored for being morally wrong while women are constantly distained if they arent completely good (source: breaking bad).

Finished reading the 1.7 chapters on CN - no spoiler intended - this chapter is a masterpiece in my mind ! so many themes and ideas are discussed, and a major lore step forward! Can forgive the shitty story telling in 1.6 version.
