Hey man , thank you great demo! just graduated. It’s good to watch a video with another instructor. I like your draping techniques and how you remove and replace the bolster.
When your getting your client/patient transitioning from prone to supine and vice versa, you should have them transition towards you instead of away from you, that way if they transition too far they do not end up falling off the table, and your body will act as a barrier to stop them from falling off.
I have nowhere near the dedication that man has to his form. Honored I'd even strike a resemblance. I'm usually mistaken for Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull fame, but only when the hair flies free. Thanks for watching!
I enjoyed the video. The technique was flawless and the teacher was professional and experienced. The audio was quite distracting. Recommend. A wireless lav mic in the future. Besides that. Great job!
You're still replying to comments on a 5 year video? That's awesome? Kudos for that. I'm only watching this out of curiosity (no plans to become a massage therapist) but I was curious, why is it so important to maintain constant contact through the massage?
Appreciated, trying to keep up with people who have genuine questions. Contact is important because it's what people are paying you for while massaging them. It's also important so the client knows exactly where you are in the room. It's never fun to play a guessing game of "where's the other person in the room" when you're face down in a face cradle. Cheers!
Looks more how to open a massage centre rather then the basics of massage. And also very helpful for future surgeons... But apart that, I can see he knows his job (as surgeon maybe?) and he is very professional.
Was a fun and interesting video. I was wondering as an aside how much on average dose a session cost for this level of message, also while in a normal work day setting how fast is the typical set up? As an aside it's kind of funny how many people in the comments are whining about the water being on at the start, like seriously while no one wants to waste water it's not like it was on for the whole video or something... It probably was .01-.02 cents worth of water for goodness sake... Any hoo thanks for sharing!

I wonder if using a weighted blanket instead of maybe the top sheet would make them feel more at ease? Especially if they have a medical history of anxiety.
It's a normal bodily act, I don't even address it, and TBH, I've only received squeakers most of the time ^_^ (I used to tell my students that you're not a full fledged massage therapist until you catch a toot in the face :) )
@@professortobymulvihill6552 Thanks for letting me know. I used to always wonder why I'd see students walking around with red eye. I assumed they were all stoned but now realise it was Pinkeye .

Hey cutie. I was taught I beauty school to use two towels instead because we do stomach massage as well so need to expose the middle section would it be the same routine and techniques for two towels instead? Thanjs
Thank you very much for sharing! Very good video, excellent advice for those who are starting in this exciting world. A recommendation, be careful with the microphone and the friction with the clothes, to avoid clicks in the sound. A hug
Stacking your joints means making sure the joints of your body make a straight line instead of being in a "connect-the-dot" formation. Hope this helps!
Easy for that guy to say to stretch your arms out with the sheet (especially the long way). I am four foot ten inches with proportionately short arms. I cannot even do that the short way LOL.
Touché. You can stretch your arms as long as they will go and do several sections of a myofascial stretch that way instead of feeling like the ankle and the middle of the back is the only opportunity you have. Great luck!
i have this one woman who insists on leaving on this large 4 strap sports bra its always in the way it takes up most her back she refuses to take it off also she insists on playing on her phone the hole time she will not get off of it and put her arms to the side or anything. any advice?
Absolutely - let it be. If your client is more comfortable with the clothing on, that is their choice, and should be respected. If it is a client you've developed a professional understanding with, you can also let them know the more skin that's exposed means a more fluid massage with longer connected strokes. However, on the whole, it is unnecessary to have "glide" for a massage across the skin if the client isn't comfortable. Regarding the phone, that's a simple adjustment of either clinic policies (i.e. that type of behavior isn't allowed during the treatment) or having a genuine conversation with the client. Remind them that a) it's their money and their time to provide a break for themselves from the usual, b) using muscles to hold and do phone work DEFINITELY makes clients tense elsewhere throughout the body, leading to a less effective massage, and c) the mind needs recovery as well as the body, and activating all the usual senses during the treatment isn't the most effective option. Lastly, let your client know that if you NEED to move a body part to a better position for treatment, then that's what's best for the treatment (at least in the immediate moment). Hope this helps!
@@professortobymulvihill6552 thank you for the advice. unfortunately I don't have professional training yet I was supposed to start last month but due to the virus my classes got pushed back to October. Wow I never knew watching a tap being run for no reason for so long would give me so much anxiety. I know it's important to exercise good hygiene but please don't forget about the environment x
Unfortunately, there are some costs with maintaining protocol with washing hands. Technically for handwashing in a clinical setting, once you begin the process, you can't touch items like the faucet, handles, your face, or anything else that isn't the area you're scrubbing. Once you complete the washing, you should be using a towel to turn the faucet handles off as to not cross contaminate. Most therapists don't have the option, but this is where an automatic on/off dispenser for soap and for the water supply comes in as very handy (no pun intended). Thanks for the concern for the environment!
