Great job! I think you could have put a little more emphasis on the picking pattern for the verse. Definitely the hardest part and is probably going to take me a while to get down ahaha. Thank you for the tutorial!!
I really appreciate that you took the time to make this, I wanted to learn this song the minute i first heard it and this was so solid & helpful!! The verse picking is really tough but you seem to have nailed it. Do you have a specific pattern beyond the two bass notes that you do each verse? Or are the fill-in picks/hammer ons always improvised? They sound so perfect as the pitch relates to the timing. I’ve been using travis picking in the verses but trying to modify it to sound more accurate Thanks again 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Thanks so much Kyle! Honestly, it's been so long since I did this lesson that I'd have to practice the song a good bit before being able to play it right again... I do remember that the guitarist is actually using a pick to play it. So he's keeping the travis picked bass rhythm going with the pick held between thumb and first fingers and then the fill in notes happening with the other fingers. A lot of the picked rhythm with the hammers and pulls inside the chords I ended up getting with trial and error and feel. Ultimately I hit play on the recorded track of People Change and play through the intro over and over again with the recording, restarting the track over and over trying to get the feel right.
Tim all good, thanks for your response! That is helpful though bc I didn’t realize he was using a pick at all. I’ll have to do exactly what you said and just keep listening to the recording. They have a studio session on yt also that’s great for reference. Anyways, amazing song, amazing tutorial, I appreciate you
@@kylechandler7623 Let me amend what I just said about playing with a pick... I just went and watched a video and he wasn't using a pick for the bass notes just raw thumb... I could SWEAR I've seen a version with a pick somewhere (maybe it was a thumb pick)...
