if you purchased it from the auction, the auction needs to send the listing files which include the images and description of the car to albany. Bro I’m in the same situation, I’m in Brooklyn ny, and have a rebuilt title from massachusetts, did they make you get out of the car to do an in-depth inspection? Or did they just take your car and bring it back to you?
Being you have a rebuilt title already, they aren't gonna really inspect it. You still have to drive it into the bay and go into the waiting room, you won't be able to see what they are doing at least where I went I couldn't But I was in the next room, I could hear through the walls I didn't even hear the lift move. Now like I said I couldn't see what they were doing but my car was only in there 10mins before they passed it so I imagine they just walked around it or some b.s lol you'll be good
I have aftermarket intakes in the car and a muffler delete. Would that affect the inspection or anything? On my salvage certificate it says a rear clip and I don’t fully understand what that means. Also do they just check the damaged part of the car on paper or do they check everything on the car?
If you have a rebuilt title they aren't going to check any of that, I had my inspection done with dark tints, cold air intake and a loud catback exhaust on it was no problems, if your going with a salvage titled car and not a rebuilt title car they will check everything. If it's already a rebuilt title they will not do that kinda inspection being it's already had it done.
Will you pass if you have a check engine light that has nothing to do with the emissions and does not affect the performance of the car ? (It is a transmission code)
I'm sorry I don't actually know, I would assume that shouldn't matter being it's not that kinda inspection at all. I really do see it being a problem tho, just wouldn't make sense for it to be. From everything I learned they seem to truly only care if the cars been repaired with stolen parts.
Going through the same exact situation. Did they check under the hood or where the accident happen ? I’m worried because my bumper is screwed in correctly , but has a couple zip ties to keep it sturdy. Do you think that will effect the inspection ?
With a rebuilt titled car you have nothing to worry about, they do check under the hood but as far as your bumper having some zip ties I wouldn't worry about that. The inspection is more about making sure the car wasn't repaired with stolen parts, they don't care about small things like that all.
Hey man, what's going on? I just did the Salvage Examination application. I'm from Ny as well. So, I have to pay 205 and mail it in on a money order. My question is...Do I mail the Application and the Money Order?
Yessir, mail the application a copy of your id, the title, bill of sale, money order and the receipt showing you paid the sale tax at the DMV. They need all that together.
currently going through this same process. do you know if there’s a limit in new york for the aftermarket parts for the inspection? i bought the car with a rebuilt but it’s aftermarket parts because you can’t get stock anymore for the model
Nah if it's already a rebuilt title, they aren't gonna go through the whole trying to match parts up thing, it's been through that no reason for them to do it twice.
He going Through the same situation but with the state of Pennsylvania and trying to register it in New York what do you put down as far as paperwork process?
You'll have to go to the dmv and fill out the regular paperwork to register it, pay the sales taxes which is b.s lol but anyway after that they'll give you a receipt showing you paid. You can get the salvage paperwork from them or print it yourself that's basically how you start the process
You will be good, it's not that kinda inspection at all. They really only check for stolen parts but if you have a rebuilt title already they aren't even gonna do all that cause it's been done already in the state you bought it.

dam, i'm sorry that happened. people suck, i'm sure the seller knew this before selling it to you. i had to look up what a my-907 was, from what i'm seeing the mv-907 is the old form and you need the MV-83SAL. i could be wrong i'd double check that but thats what it looks like. sadly there isn't really much you can do about it if the dmv is saying thats what has to be done you just gotta do it. when filling out the form just check the stolen recover box. i know it sucks and id be pissed myself but ya gotta do what ya gotta do now.
dmv.ny.gov/registration/about-salvage-vehicle-examination if you check that it'll show the dates they are checking the mail That'll give you a idea but it took me alil over 2 weeks to hear back from them with a date to bring the car in.
Yes 100%. You can't register it without the new title, so you wouldn't be able to get legal plates to drive it.. I know it sucks but your better off just waiting, getting pulled over in an unregistered car isn't a fun time at all. Car can be impounded and you can get yourself in some legal trouble it's a headache just avoid it trust me lol
No sir, the title will say salvage but the stamp in the door jam I'm assuming your talking about depends on the state you're in. New York doesn't do that tho
I would assume yes because if you have a rebuilt titled car they aren't gonna need receipts for anything like you won't even need to show them a single one. I didn't have any kinda paper work at all when I went but a carfax.
A carfax will tell you what kinda salvage it is but you can also just put unknown in that section and check no for everything else being you personally didn't replace these parts or repair them.
You sign the old title just as you would for registration, you have to mail it along with the other paper work. After you pass they will send you a new title.
Honestly idk how that would work, but if I was in that situation myself. Id try to go with a bill of sale and the parts cars title signed over with my name on it. Basically trying to show them I own this car nothing is stolen, cause that's what the inspection is mainly about anyway. Hopefully someone who's been through this comes across your comment with a better answer, that's the best I got lol good luck 🤞
No don't do that, you can't legally transfer plates on the car till after it passes inspection you'll get tickets doing that. Permit, dealer plates or tow
No sir not for this inspection, my car was tinted during the inspection. For the yearly NY emissions inspection it does tho, I had to go to a friend to pass that with tints.
Receipts and matching vin number's on the parts but if your car already has a rebuilt title none of that will matter as it's already pass the inspection once.
If it doesn't already have a CT title then yes unfortunately you have to go through the process 😕 but if it's a rebuilt CT title then you can just register it like normal.
On top of the title say certified of title nd state of ct DMV and on the middle only say with big letters rebuild damage so idk if have to do all the process again or I just register like normal

If it's already a rebuilt title they will not do that kinda inspection being it's already had it done.
this video helped a lot, apricate it
Will you pass if you have a check engine light that has nothing to do with the emissions and does not affect the performance of the car ?
They didn’t check anything emissions there right just on whats been replaced on vehicle and make sure all safety systems are working. ?
Yes that's exactly what kinda inspection it is, the main focus is on what's been replaced.
Even a year old it's still good I almost brought a Salvaged title car lmao
currently going through this same process. do you know if there’s a limit in new york for the aftermarket parts for the inspection? i bought the car with a rebuilt but it’s aftermarket parts because you can’t get stock anymore for the model
Nah if it's already a rebuilt title, they aren't gonna go through the whole trying to match parts up thing, it's been through that no reason for them to do it twice.
Hi thank you I’m going through the same thing but my title is reconnected is that the same as rebuilt title
Yes a reconstructed title is the same as rebuilt.
Do I have to put all the information of the owner including phone number and email in the form before sending it?
Yes if you want them to contact you by email, otherwise no. I'm talking about on the mv-83sal paper.
bro i’m in the exact same situation 💀💀 my test is on friday march 17
how did it go
@@RatedAlpha passed and now legally driving it. Simple and fast
@@elian5288how fast from start to finish?
my frs has a tire pressure light and since it has led turn signals, it rapidly blinks. will that affect anything on the examination?
No, won't be a problem at all. You'll be good, they don't care stuff like that.
What if the car has a check engine light and an exhaust system? Man this video gives me hope 🙏
You will be good, it's not that kinda inspection at all. They really only check for stolen parts but if you have a rebuilt title already they aren't even gonna do all that cause it's been done already in the state you bought it.
Hey bro, question when it comes to mailing what documents besides the money order, the application document, and the title? Is there anything else i have to send in?
@@edgarzamora7228 title, money order, bill of sale,mv83sal paperwork with a copy front and back of your ID. There's a check list on the back bottom of the my83 page also Incase I forgot something but I'm pretty sure that's everything..
See I did forget lol also the receipt for the sale taxes paid from the dmv
Do you think they care if the car has modified exhaust, cold air intakes, or no cats?
@@carloscharles8610 nah you'll be good , the first car I went through this with had a cold air intake and a exhaust and limo tints lol they don't care about none of that with a rebuilt title. I brought my Acura there last month and they literally just walked around it didn't even touch it, I had to come and close the doors and trunk to get the mileage. The lady said "I didn't touch anything can you get me the miles"
@@sethdabbz9428 thanks I am planning to pick up rebuilt title car from Boston MA and register in NY. I will use temp plates (legit temp plates from my friend at car dealership) to drive the car in the meantime.
bro i have a question for u please help, im in the nyc as well. i got the car, before i buy i bought a carfax report and everything it was clean there is no salvage report. i got it with clean title went to dmv and the dmv made the registration and my title didn’t come since 6 months so i called them to ask what’s going on they told me that this car has marked as stolen by insurance company so i have to get a salvage title i have to apply for mv-907 they cant give me a clean title. what to do you advise me to do in this situation, i didn’t know the car was salvage and i bought it with clean title, and paid full price please answer bro
dam, i'm sorry that happened. people suck, i'm sure the seller knew this before selling it to you. i had to look up what a my-907 was, from what i'm seeing the mv-907 is the old form and you need the MV-83SAL. i could be wrong i'd double check that but thats what it looks like. sadly there isn't really much you can do about it if the dmv is saying thats what has to be done you just gotta do it. when filling out the form just check the stolen recover box. i know it sucks and id be pissed myself but ya gotta do what ya gotta do now.
Hey
Question
How long does it take for them to reach back to you roughly?
dmv.ny.gov/registration/about-salvage-vehicle-examination if you check that it'll show the dates they are checking the mail That'll give you a idea but it took me alil over 2 weeks to hear back from them with a date to bring the car in.
@@sethdabbz9428 thank you brother for the info ✅
What if until I’m waiting my title after inspection I will get pulled over?
@@sethdabbz9428 thanks bro 👊
Hi , after at least 3 months I finally have an appointment for the inspection, my car has tinted windows, should I removed them ?
Thanks
@@patriciahenao7843 nah both the cars I've done this with have dark tints, they don't care about that kinda stuff at all.
@@sethdabbz9428 thanks a lot . So thankful for your video and your advice, I have my appt Monday in queens , wish me luck.
Thanks a lot , my appointment is Monday , wish me luck.
@@patriciahenao7843 Hey just following up if they passed your car with tints?
Do all rebuilt cars need to be stamped rebuilt on the car?
No sir, the title will say salvage but the stamp in the door jam I'm assuming your talking about depends on the state you're in. New York doesn't do that tho
When you get the inspection at?
Highland NY, they have all the locations on the paper work. You'll see em on the bottom
Can I replace my wheels with aftermarket? (Buying from a third party with no receipt)
I would assume yes because if you have a rebuilt titled car they aren't gonna need receipts for anything like you won't even need to show them a single one. I didn't have any kinda paper work at all when I went but a carfax.
I have a car with a rebuilt title. I don't know what to write in the form because I don't know what's reconstructed. What do I write on it
A carfax will tell you what kinda salvage it is but you can also just put unknown in that section and check no for everything else being you personally didn't replace these parts or repair them.
Did you have to get your name in the new title first or the salvage examination?
You sign the old title just as you would for registration, you have to mail it along with the other paper work. After you pass they will send you a new title.
Nice thanks
Do we need to get salvage examination in NY every time we sell a car if the title was issued as rebuilt in NY
Do the bill of sell have to be notarized before sending it?
Nah, I ain't even have a official bill of sell. I made my own up to save on them taxes lol
Thanks bro🙏
What if I’m buying the same car and I have a parts car but title isn’t in my name can I use the parts of it?
Honestly idk how that would work, but if I was in that situation myself. Id try to go with a bill of sale and the parts cars title signed over with my name on it. Basically trying to show them I own this car nothing is stolen, cause that's what the inspection is mainly about anyway. Hopefully someone who's been through this comes across your comment with a better answer, that's the best I got lol good luck 🤞
If i transfered plates from my other car can i drive it there?
No don't do that, you can't legally transfer plates on the car till after it passes inspection you'll get tickets doing that. Permit, dealer plates or tow
W video
Please can I take my car to salvage inspection with temporal dealer plate?
If it's a legit dealer plate, yes you can.
not even a dealer can get a plate for a salvage titled (out of state) vehicle. rebuilt salvage - yes
Does window tints matter for this inspection?
No sir not for this inspection, my car was tinted during the inspection. For the yearly NY emissions inspection it does tho, I had to go to a friend to pass that with tints.
Thanks bro, my windows are tinted so was kinda worried… appointment on Jan 19 wish me luck
Where’s your friend’s shop ? I don’t want to remove my tints 😅
How will they know the part was stolen ?
Receipts and matching vin number's on the parts but if your car already has a rebuilt title none of that will matter as it's already pass the inspection once.
So you couldn’t get plates for the car until you did the salvage inspection.
Yep it's kinda b.s how the process is, just another way to get money out of you lol
Are you in New York City area
No sir, upstate last stop of the metro north lol I brought my car to the ulster county location
Hey bro I’m from ct and I buy a car with rebuild salvaged title and I want to register do you think have to do all process or I don’t have ?
If it doesn't already have a CT title then yes unfortunately you have to go through the process 😕 but if it's a rebuilt CT title then you can just register it like normal.
On top of the title say certified of title nd state of ct DMV and on the middle only say with big letters rebuild damage so idk if have to do all the process again or I just register like normal
Nah your good to register it as it is, lucky you get to skip all the b.s lol
@@sethdabbz9428 oh thanks’ bro I was worried about that hopefully everything goes good
They only care about receipts?
For a salvage title yes, you'd have to show receipts. For a car with a rebuilt title the receipts won't matter.
It's not like that in any other state except greedy ny
Very greedy, makes no sense to make people pay for an inspection the car already had just a big waste of time, Money and stress smh
I live in Pa. I sell rebuilt cars, NYS is the only state that doesn't honor other states inspection. NYS just wants their $
Are you able to register a PA rebuilt title in NJ without a inspection?
@louiscabral5242 yes. As long as it's already rebuilt in Pennsylvania. You can use that title to register in nj

@@sethdabbz9428 thank you. Im planning to do the repairs myself. Once im done with the repair do I need to get a ny state inspection before the salvage inspection ?
@@elv95 I didn't repair my car but I don't think you need any kinda inspection prior to the salvage inspection unless you plan to drive the car to the inspection sight, you'll need a safety inspection and insurance for the permit but otherwise no needs for a emissions inspection.
