The Mighty Ducks logo returning is a big step in the right direction. To be clear, I have no dog in the fight. I've never even been to Anaheim. But the OG Mighty Ducks uniforms are some of the best the league's ever seen, in my opinion. And when they were tossed out by the new owners (in 2000 whatever), I thought it was a crime against humanity.
After the 2006 Conference Finals, where they lost to the Oilers, they rebranded simply as the Anaheim Ducks. And the next year they won the Stanley Cup in 5 games against the Senators.

New Gm...i get it why Pascal Vincent was fired since Waddell will have "his" guy. Still... in a pure rebuild, you usually test what you have before cleaning house to know what works ! Honestly i think he will have another chance in the league or as a assistant coach, he was a great coach in the QHJML.
I’m wondering if there was some feedback from the player exit interviews that impacted Waddell’s decision. Could be that PV was potentially losing the room.
Todd Nelson deserves a shot with CBJ imo, especially if Hershey repeats.

As a Jets fan, we know Pascal Vincent quite well and the majority of us feel he'll land on his feet quite well. It wasn't much of a surprise that the new GM wanted to get his own guys in there. I was thinking maybe Jay Woodcroft might be a good fit there, and Dean Evason is also still available, as well as Tod McClellan and several others.
One thing is consistent with all the Daily NHL updates: there is nothing about the Islanders. I cant believe how the organization is content with mediocrity. I cant even come up with anything constructive as to how they could improve, that doesn't involve 40 years.
They have to move real money, not just prospects. Right now they have $6.5M to sign 6 players. Lee's contract is too much money, but they can't move it until July 1, when his modified no-trade kicks in.

5:30: I would amend that to say that it's rare to see superstar players change teams in the prime of their career. All the time, we see elite-level players traded on the downside of their careers, to get futures so the team can rebuild (cf. Patrick Kane) or clear out cap space (cf. Jonathan Quick). And of course, with careers being longer than they used to be, you sometimes have cases like Martin Brodeur, where the team wants to move on before the players is ready to retire.

Feel kinda bad for Vincent - dude was so far in over his head he was giving passing pointers to deep-sea anglerfish. Hopefully he can find an assistant job on a team that won’t battlefield promote him to cover for its own colossal mistake.
I want the Jackets to hire a coach that knows how to design a quality power play. The power play has been powerless for the past decade to the point of being Extra Skater Time

Vincent was terrible - We called him the Mute because he never spoke when asked questions in Wpg when he was with the jets or moose. Thank god they didnt hire him for the Jets.

I really hoped Dak and Z would re-sign, but Dak probably sees what Garland and Mikheyev are making and thinking "Hey! Me too." Im sure someone will give him +/- 4 mil in July. I'm not too worried though, Bains and Karlsson didnt look out of place. I'd like to see them save some cap space and add some vets for a playoff run on deadline day. Also, use the money on Z to sign Tanev if Z walks!
Please it's about time the Ducks introduce the new jersey for this next chapter in tandem with building of OC Vibe. Orange will stay as it's rooted in Orange County and visibly different than the Angels.

I can see Draisaitl getting $12-13 mil and McDavid $15M+ which means the Oilers are going to have a whole lot of shuffling to do.
As a UK based Canucks fan I would be really sorry to see Big Z and Joshua not resigned. I am.not sure Hronek is worth his asking price and Lindholm certainly isn't. If we trade Hronek maybe we can put his money towards keeping Big Z and Josh. Can we start a go fund page for them:)

Nobody got surprised when mackinnon and matthews got paid more than mcdavid, I have no doubt draisaitl gets more than either of those two.
I can never support the “redesigns” for the uniforms. Look at Chicago, Detroit, Montreal, Toronto and Boston. Classic great uniforms. The Ducks and Kings seem to change every ffew years… I don’t know who I’m watching, anymore! And I was a long time Kings season ticket holder…enough!

2:55 - still an absolute shame we don't have a purple main team in the league. Kings should DEFINITELY go back to the purple and gold. (MLBs royals get a pass for using royal blue...) Just for starters purple is famously the color of royalty, plus the cross branding with the Lakers almost writes itself...

Draisaitl and McDavid have both hinted for the last few seasons especially the last season that if they can't go far in the playoffs then maybe they need to try something else so as a oiler fan I'm feeling a bit more optimistic they'll be re signed considering there the only other team left standing.
Yeah this season should give them reason to think that they can win in Edmonton.

It would be awesome if this happened however dude is 69 and not the type of coach we need. The Jackets have had an issue with instilling a winning culture and I don't know if he is the right fit to fix that.

Well obviously. Reason I say that is Jarmo definitely tried to force success in his last couple years and had it blow up horribly in practice. With Waddell coming in based on what he's been saying it seems like the roster is going to have some changes to it and going off of that I would say the Jackets are going to come in with expectations to improve on last season. Not a playoff hunt but definitely not bottom 5. They really can't keep tanking either with all of the prospects and just have everyone get used to losing.

As a Canucks fan if Joshua and Zadorov leave I will not be happy. Both of these players helped the Canucks a lot especially Joshua who was a huge difference maker at times. I’d rather see Lindholm, Hronek and Myers go then these two.

I'd love to see Dean Evason in Columbus. He's a really fair guy who doesn't tolerate bullshit but also doesnt play power games. A couple years of Deano would be good for that franchise.
The best years for CBJ were the 6 they had John Tortorella. Torts did wear out at the end, but making the playoffs in at least half of those seasons is a good thing especially sweeping a 62 win Tampa in 2019

@@TheFusionmix evason couldn't win with the rosters he had before guerin really started messing with stuff. He has no idea how to adjust. He gets outcoached every playoffs because refuses to change strategies. He puts skilled players in his doghouse if he thinks they don't do enough and no matter what they do, he still puts the blame solely on them. He did it to parise, suter, fiala, addison and dumba. Dumba being the only one worthy of being in the doghouse
Pascal Vincent was one of the worst coaches in NHL history. He openly discriminated against American-born NCAA players and never should have been hired. He should be an ECHL assistant coach.
He was put in a bad spot because of the whole Babcock fiasco. It sucks for him but he needed to go.
I am not that deep into the whole NHL contract thing, but is there a possibility for Leon to ask for less money to give the Oilers more wriggle-room to maybe stock up the team with more depth? I can just remember that (although it's a different sport) Dirk Nowitzki also took huge cap-hits just for the team to get stronger. Not sure if that is allowed in the NHL, but I am pretty sure Leon is the type of guy that would do that if it means he can stay with Connor and the lads to keep gunning for the Stanley Cup
They can choose to take less, they just don't. When you're one of the best players in the world and the team is willing to throw millions at you, would you say no? I wouldn't blame you if you didn't.
Would you take a pay cut at your job so your boss can give other employees more money/bring in higher paying employees? That's basically what you're asking of a player

That being said the average person can't comprehend how much top players are paid because it's so far removed from our reality, so it's easy for us to say "take a pay cut." We all know if it were the other way around and we were offered 9 million or more for our services we'd take it without a second thought.

I believe in the Allvin & Rutherford plan. As sad as I'll be to see Zadorov depart (and Joshua, to a lesser degree) it is just business. Management will find a way to improve the team with new additions, and those guys will get a well-earned bump in the bank account.

If CBJ goes with a coach who is new to NHL head coach sure hope it is someone with good apparent energy.
Gaudreau has played his best hockey with a coach who makes things interesting. He is a creative forward and a good coach knows how to tap into that. Daryl Sutter was that coach in his last season with Calgary. Not recommending him but there was turnover of coaches in Gaudreau’s time there and his results varied.
