Eh no, you lost your data because you didn't back it up, has nothing to do with "new won't connect to old" since that isn't required, used or wanted to transfer data. You back up the old phone to a PC or google drive or whatever else you prefer using, then restore the data on to the new device, you can have a shop do it for a fee. Screen dying has nothing to do with it unless the whole phone died with it, which is unusual, but even then there are ways, you'd probably need to plonk down some $$ to have a specialist do it, depending on the shape of your old phone. To sum it up, you lost everything because you didn't bother not to.
@@noth606 The whole phone is gone without the screen. It has a virtual keyboard, so can only be accessed with a remote keyboard. My son managed to recover some of the contacts but everything else is lost. Eve if I had the carrier's techies do the job, the whole phone is wiped clean. Sorry I'm am old c*nt and used to sim cards storing stuff. Why anyone would would want their data being held by a third party is beyond me.
You COMPLETELY ignored a rather important category -- that was partly grayed out in your own video: *accounts*. I have 3 google accounts and 18 other accounts. Your sample had 1 google acct, and one dropbox acct (text grayed but not the icon.) How do those get transfered? NONE of these methods even discuss that. In the past I could use "Helium" to do it but that's apparently outdated :(
What if I don't want to transfer all the apps etc from my old device, but I'm just missing a few apps that are no longer available (and that are crucial, like Reverse chord finder for guitar...). Is this possible? It's on my old S10
@@techlifeunitynone of my apps will transfer from a Motorola to a new Google pixel 8. I've been on the phone with tech support for 2 hours with no luck.
Google offers the option of saving passwords and logins for use when you are browsing and logged in to your google account. If you save passwords and logins with Google, you will be able to access them on any device you are using where you are also signed in to Google
your name and whether you are subscribed or not and where you are from is not needed for "tips and tricks" about channel not grouping. giving name and that your son is "Bakar" (in Arabic it means that you are the father of cow making, just saying) and you are from Pakistan is a local culture thing and not in the online English language culture, ex: if your friend come with his friend and sit in your living room you would introduce yourself "Hi my name is abu bakar i am subscribed to your channel from pakistan", but online no one cares that much. people will skip your massage because it is a waste of time, salam
There is NO 'Accounts & Backup' on any of the phones we have, but there is 'Accounts' and a 'Google' entry within and again NO 'Back up Data' entry only google account. Totally bemused, is this video for yet ANOTHER ****** Samsung device, seems most so called generic videos on YT seem to really only tie up with a Samsung, if so, PLEASE rename the video accordingly. Now looking at the below comments I guess I should not expect and answer here ?.
The Google backup method saved me a gazillion load of trouble! Thanks a lot!!! 😄
Great to hear! You're welcome!
Great tips, I was about to trow my new phone to the garbage. saw half the video and I was good to go, Thanks

Backup? What happened to sim cards. I just lost everything because the screen died and the new phone won't connect to the old.

Everything transferred fine except my step counter which went back to zero. Any tips to get all that data back??
1:55 Can't use old device just comes up with a message saying the equivalent of "Well you're fucked buddy", not a login to the google account.
do i have to switch the simcard from the old to the new android phone after backing u through Google?
Yes, you'll need to transfer your SIM over
@@techlifeunity Transferring the SIM card over is the most important information you could have provided.
@@techlifeunitythere's no sim card to transfer, now what?

My old tablet will no longer connect to wifi, so I bought a new one. But I can't transfer anything directly so hopefully a 3rd party app will work.

If the apps are no longer available on the play store you won't be able to download them on your new device, unfortunately.

I have Motorola and the phone in the video has different functions to mine. I had to go to Settings - System - Backup - Back up now. Try that.
