- We see very little of Aemond's childhood, so it’s hard to know his suffering overall. The show did give us a scene of Aemond and Alicent with her reassuring him that he would get a dragon one day.Who knows how long Aegon instigated the bullying but it affects Aemond in a way he developed an insecurity that leads his obsession on dragons.
One very brief moment which I think is very important, is the look that Aemond and Jace exchanged over the brazier at the wake after Laena's funeral.
They didn't say anything but to me at least it Aemond was trying to say "Hey, I'm sorry for your loss too." Despite what they've done to him, Aemond was trying to actually acknowledge his grief and he still don't harbor that kind of anger that he now have.
Despite all Alicent's flaws, she is a Mother.Look at who is the only person who advocates for Aemond afterwards. His father doesn’t. His siblings don’t. His grandfather, aunts, uncles, knights of the realm, all are quiet. Only his mother advocates for him, who defies her husband and king, grabs a dagger, and attempts to collect on that debt.Right here, in the moments after he has been permanently disfigured, only one person is in his corner. That person is Alicent.

"People won’t like this but what if Otto didn’t poison Alicent’s mind Rhae could have gotten the throne Aemond would have DEFINITELY gotten on the small council or held a place Of high importance and Helena would have married Jace we all know he would have been kind and sweet to her and treated her lovingly like a gentleman and Aegon could have gone off like Laenor and left them all alone I mean can you even picture someone trying to threaten the crown with Aemond and Daemon on her side and the best part when know Aemond and Jace would BOTH take the prophecy seriously...

The what ifs really got into me but GRRM writes Fire and Blood as a tragedy unfortunately.
The poisoning of their young minds took all the chances that the realm could have if only they learn to live in peace and love.
Also, the only time we see Aemond's genuine happiness is when he rides Vhagar up in the sky.It made me sad actually when I'm editing this..maybe its the full moon i guess 💚 😭

It's very hard not to understand aemond..I was bullied and I made a choice to never ever be weak again...u never want to be seen as weak again

@@cyeco_13 yess very true and i know some people dont like this didnt stay true to the book where aemond very much meant to do it...he was bullied and he was bullying luke and jace and didnt mean for it to go that far...like the look he gave damon when he killed that one guy..i think hes fascinated withkilling someone but when he did ...he felt awful///must my lil opinion.curious if he owns it next season or feels bad or both or how the heck they handle it.

@@cyeco_13 You move on somehow, but the memories and the feeling of helplessness and belittling will always be there. Especially when something or someone triggers it. I should know. The experience of being bullied are like skeletons in my closet.
You were never weak, they would pick on anyone cause they are misguiding or sheep, it'd never the victim although it feels like why me intruth it could be anyone. But it's good to be assertive and have ways to deal with bully's as they pop up every where. If someone or people act rude or shifty to me I just cut them off and don't make any effort and remind myself all I have to be is myself and be polite and if someone is an ass I literally have zero fuvks about why they are like that I just ignore and move on.
I will always be angry how most of the people ignore the hardships Aemond was put through and act like being bullied and losing an eye is nothing when it comes to him. Ofc we didn't get more scenes where he was bullied because the show did a lot of timejumps and there wasn't time to focus more on their childhood. But the only scenes we had are meant to point out that he was made fun of by the rest of the kids due to not having a dragon and that's his childhood. The producers/writers mentioned how with that they wanted to show how “he was teased mercilessly as a kid” (by their words). It's interesting to see how many fans of the show downplay what he went through while overreact about him giving that toast to Luke, "oh poor Luke", when it wasn't far as bad as what Luke did to him.
No one I’ve seen is downplaying it but I think for me it’s more whatever the Blacks do it’s BAAAD but they don’t see what the Greens do
Let’s take the bullying the writers can say that but we only saw one incident that people may not want to admit but was totally orchestrated by his brother who basically admitted it and explained why he treats him that way so it’s not Luc and Jace being the sole culprits the issue is like Rhaena he feels inferior but for him it’s worse after what I’m sure his mother has said about them add in they’re his nephews he didn’t want to feel inferior to THEM so it’s amplified I’m not excusing it but his behavior shouldn’t always be down to “it’s okay he was bullied”
His eye: does anyone want to see that happen of course not but let’s not make Aemond into an Angel. if people can excuse him killing Luc by saying “oh he was angry he wasn’t going to his dragon read his emotions and he regretted it it was a bad decision” BUT then can’t see why an 8 YEAR OLD who just saw his cousins get hit, his brother get slammed in the side of the head with a rock, his own nose broken and was strangled as he was told he’s a bastard (Gee Alicent where did he hear that) and would die screaming on fire like his father, might act on EMOTION at the time because oh yes 8 yr old boys are totally the bastion of rational thinking non emotional outbursts and understanding what consequences are sound hypocritical Yes it’s sad what happened to Aemond as I sad whi the heck would want that to happen but he was a BIG part of why it happened and I can tell you if the shoe was on the other foot there would be people defending Aemond
The time jumps: Rhaenyra left KL when Harwin died they didn’t even see each other until Driftmark so what happened between then they can’t be held responsible his own brother wasn’t great to him I’m just tired of seeing Luc and Jace being pinned for everything when his own brother was horrible
The Speech was low hanging fruit Luc is 14 what 14 yr old boy wouldn’t laugh at that if you don’t think they would I’m not sure people know many 14 yr old boys was it right to do?? NOPE!!! not at all especially when you could see he was itching to fight but the speech was ridiculous because it’s like he didn’t even listen at all to what his mother and Viserys said let’s be honest Luc and Jace could have said and done nothing and he would have said something he was wound tighter than a spring.
The best thing though is he has an issue with Strong bastards but he sure doesn’t have any issues with Alys Rivers which is what…a Strong Bastard…I like Aemond I really do he really does have layers like the rest but I also can see he’s no Angel

I feel really sad for Aemond, so much could’ve been avoided if he had just been shown kindness. I don’t think Aemond is evil, he loves his mother and Helaena. Aemond deserves better, and Lucerys should’ve been punished.
Lucerys somehow did get punished. Indirectly, Vhagar was the one who did it.
@@nakahara2sunako7 I like to think that Vhagar did it for Aemond. I think their bond grew over the years they've been together. Vhagar feels the anger that Aemond has.
This made me teary.I like the part where young Aemond wants to talk to Luke and when he is laughing while riding Vhagar.This is so heartbreaking 💔

You mean jace right? During the funeral, what is so sad is that they could have been great friends, I like how the flame resembles that. When rhanerya and Alicent are in the sept praying, they are surrounded by burning candles, symbolizing how strong their bond is, when at the last supper, a few candles are lit for both, it’s distant but still somewhat there, with daemon and rhaenerya also. The small burning almost dying flame I think symbolizes that there is still a small window of hope but it’s smited after the whole vhagar thing.

I never thought that Aemond become the most favorite character in HOTD. He deserved better as he work hard and never feel love from father. Luke laugh at him even pass many years. And Aemond just wanna scare him. Luke should be obey as he is his uncle. I will never change my mind to love him until the end.

Aemond was bullied and lost his eye. they say he stole Vhagar. But Vhagar chose him. And let's be honest Rhaena could never have claimed Vhagar. I honestly hate rhaenyra sons. I hate Visery's for not defending his son.
They inherit their parents anger and resentment that's why this is so sad 🙁

Lovely edit. I don’t blame the children for what happened to Aemond but I wish V had cared about his own small son more after it happened. Given Luke’s amusement at the dinner he was clearly never disciplined for what happened that night.

How does anyone know she didn’t discipline him he was a 14 yr old boy how many boys that age wouldn’t and we’ve seen her talking to them sternly sending them to their rooms making them swear not to fight on the Seven people act like she does nothing when we haven’t seen that they act like Rhaenyra’s kids are “savages” same with Aemond being constantly bullied we saw ONE incident that his own brother came up with and then basically admitting it by what Aegon called him either way I don’t think Rhaenyra never disciplined her children the same way Alicent went way over the top on some things and let some things slide too much
@@dipsydoodle2728 i mean we don’t *know* but we can surmise - a 14 yr old who had been made properly aware of the lifelong damage he had inflicted on his uncle who was at the time also a small child wouldn’t laugh at the memory of his oldest brother and uncle’s bullying of Aemond.
I’m a Black apologist until the day I die but the way Luke behaved there was wrong and and wouldn’t have happened if Rhae had properly explained how wrong his actions had been that day.
@@rilasolo113 thank you, finally someone understands it~ Aemond is not without a fault for sure, but Luke is far from innocent in this situation as well, and it's unfair how people justify his actions and treat him like an innocent baby when what he did was totally wrong, also Aemond was very much a child as well
@@dipsydoodle2728 i do think alicent plant fear and mistrust towards her children's cousins while Rhaenyra is more concern on the "my children have had their parentage attack" than disciplining them.But then again Rhaenyra's children grew up so well adjusted so i think you have a point.. I think there's more to her as being a present mother than Alicent.And to be fair, Alicent did try but she inherited Otto's mindset that Rhaenyra will kill her kids when the time comes..so its Otto fault i guess 😂

I hate Aemond abusers
Aemond is well justified in his hatred for Rhaenyra and her sons. Her sons blinded him and she wanted him to be tortured for calling her obvious illegitimate children “bastards”. What I find empowering, as someone who was bullied, that Aemond made himself stronger and rose above.
I feel for aemond. He did not steal vhagar. A dragon is not a slave. Controlling a dragon is an illusion. The kids did bully him but luke did receive the ultimate punishment being eaten by vhagar. I don't like the way Alicent treated Aegon though. She is a grey character too but her father is a piece of shit.
I know this isn't about it, but i'm the only one who imagine an AU where Aemond grew up with a daughter of Rhaenyra and he falled for her and so he feel like confused/conflicted between his love for her and his resentment towards the blacks, what do you think about it?
I love that idea..i wish someone write a fic for that..the conflicting feelings of getting revenge but falling for your enemy is a good plot with lots of angst and drama..and also a dash of romance 🤔💚👍
