Unsure if this is how it works in other countries but in Australia (or at least Western Australian state) drinking dams/reservoirs like you built are no swimming or boating or fishing as water needs to be kept as clean for drinking as possible. Other dams/reservoirs such as for irrigation or other uses or even purpose built recreational dams (open cut mine rehabilitation) can have mixed uses including some swimming/canoeing only or others full motorised boats and jet skis, and can be a lot bigger than the one you have built in CS2. Really cool watching this detailed 1 tile episode city come to life, been enjoying it a lot!
I've got bad news about highways in Eastern cities. I'm from Rochester, just look at downtown on a map. It's literally strangled by the inner loop, cuts off everyone from downtown and makes it feel like a separate entity to the surrounding metro-area.
Ahhhh another excellent video from one of my absolute fav. creators. Having to live through you and others atm, since computer went *poof* and saving up for new in 2025. At least I have time now to sort of catch up on videos from creators and books :D Keep up the great work Sir, I really like how you work with trees/stones when making the landscape looking good
I could be wrong, but realistically, I doubt that any city would allow for farms to be that close to freshwater reservoirs, especially drinking water resovoirs. This is due to the extensive use of pesticides in the farming industry, which would seep through the ground and polluting the resovoir (making it a health hazard for the citizens). I think you could replace it with some other type of industry, and perhaps keeping it agricultural.
Since the reservoir is meant to supply the city with drinking water I'd suggest adding a water processing facility near it. Also, reservoirs that small meant for hydroelectric generation aren't safe for recreation due to depth, sudden fluctuations in water level and currents crrated by the hydro generation station. I live in Ontario not far from Niagara Falls and every summer there are public awareness campaigns on TV and radio warning people to stay away from waterways near dams. A larger, shallower reservoir or lake somewhere up river meant for recreation would be an excellent idea.
Reserveoirs are not safe places to swim! Because they get so deep so quickly, the water is usually extremely cold and your body can go into shock if you jump right in. Every reservoire I have seen up in Lancashire has a no swimming sign
In Colorado most of our reservoirs are meant for recreational uses as well. Now, in the mountains there are a handful that swimming is illegal. I think it really depends on the site design.
Great build, but I have one suggestion: some of those areas like the comms tower area could do with some random little openings in the forests with some benches for people in the city to sit, have a beer with a view, or whatnot
I love this built 😍 Especially the forest and farms on the hill, will def copy this. But if you aim for realism, usually there is no agriculture or farms close to fresh water reservoirs because fertiliser or dirt washed away by rain would polute the water.
Build idea: maby try to create some kind of old airport in the middle of the city which was closed over the years when the city grew and expanded around it while new one was built on the outskirts. Old runway was partly preserved and partly transformed into roads/parks/new apartments/race track. Inspiration is Krakow Rakowice-Czyzyny Airfield or (less absorber by the city) Berlin Tempelhof. Anyway love the series.
As you mentioned Hannover in one vid, my guess is Minden, Bückeburg or something around that area? low mountains with radio towers always remind me of the one opposite to the emperor's statue
Check out Thornton Quarry which is south of Chicago. Interstate runs thru it and one side has been converted to a water reservoir while still using it as a stone quarry. Would be cool to see that in a build
Normally the only time you see that many oaks close together is when they were planted there by men in rows. It's unnatural to have so many oaks with so few other trees, UNLESS those oaks are planted in rows. We only have one type of oak in the game and that's the type you normally see on it's own in the middle of a field or planted in rows around 100 years ago. The type of oaks you see dominating a forest canopy are not these types and are not in CS2 yet which are white oaks. I think these are English Oak trees we have in CS2.
@@imperatur I'm just anal about trees because I grow them for a living. And you are right, I am not very happy with CS2 over the lack of trees. I love the game, but we need more trees. I mean come on, we dont even have a willow.....
Guessing your hometown based on telecomtowers on hills... that is basicalyy everything in the mid-region of Germany with hills, but not mountains :P But since you did build the Würzburg Hauptbahnhof at one time in your "German Downtown" video, I'd have a guess around lower saxony ;) (living in Würzburg myself)

Hello from Brazil! As a resident of a country whose energy matrix is mostly made up of hydroelectric plants, I can say that here they are used for recreation, with artificial beaches,An example is the hydroelectric plant in my state, "Mato Grosso", called "Manso", which is used for this purpose, with some restaurants on the edge of the artificial lake. Here's a tip, I would really like to see inspiration from my country in your city, take a look at our hydroelectric plants, and if possible in the future in the city, build a large artificial lake for recreation for the City dwellers.
@imperatur For the interchange build in the next episode, i definitely would recommend taking some inspiration from Toronto's convoluted highway 401 system for inspiration as having a complex collector/express lane system would probably make the highway system look a bit more interesting than most most standard simple interchange builds in current cs2.
imperatur lowkey doxxing himself. but aint no problem because he is a Hochhaussiedlung Legende!!! They got his back and he never has any prblems. thats why the videos are always chill imperatur x city planner plays when?
What's the reasoning for the placement of so many farms this close to the dam and high density districts? Is this going to be near to the edge of the city, or is it here because it's like this near Niagara Falls?
I live near niagra falls in ontario canada and its very common to have beaches and fishing and recreational areas around dams. They usually have a zone roped off for swimming.
In Calgary, AB Canada we have a reservoir for drinking water it’s used for paddle and sailing only because it’s a main source of drinking water. Might want to restrict swimming if it’s the cities water source.
I don't think you should make a beach at the reservoir. Too small of an area. Plus since you have access to the ocean it would make more sense to have a bigger beach side resort or something down there instead.
I have gone swimming in a fair share of reservoirs myself, while its not the most aesthetically pleasing it does definitely happen. humans will be humans after all. and if they don't build it we will make our own recreational space.
There are several reservoirs around me that allow for public recreational use, but they are often much larger/longer than yours. I think yours might be used for catch and release fishing. It could let small boats roam around, but would probably have lots of safety buoys around the damn area itself. I wonder if they have props that would work to replicate buoys?
@@imperatur I completely understand the current limitation with props. But perhaps there is something current that could be a similar substitution (trash cans, fence posts) and recolored to look like a buoy. Super doubtful, especially also needing to play with the water physics. Just a thought.
If people want to do things like this but the expense of using these service buildings cost seems too high you can edit them in the asset editor and make them cheaper. I haven't figured out how to make these types of buildings up gradable yet though.
Please, tell me you are thinking of building a football stadium in a city rather than an American football stadium even though it is an American city. In today's episode, I liked how you solved the connection even though the terrain was very hilly. It looks natural. :)

I swam this summer in a reservoir in Italy it was really nice but there were no boats allowed.
That sound reasonable:)
Oh yeah, don't forget to build an airport in your city because I frequently see a silhouette of planes passing by your city.
Yea they are quite annoying 🤣
But we‘ll build the downtown first then we can search for a place for the airport:)
you must be new here if you think imperatur finishes a city without an airport ; )

Not true this summer in Italy I swam in a reservoir if you wanted you could get really close (50m) to the dam.
And yet those in Manchester are also recreational areas (or used to be... like 30y ago...)
