I gave a bottle of this whisky to my dad for Father’s Day, last year. The shock of getting something this good left him utterly stunned. Seeing his reactions to the initial gift and to the taste are some of my favorite memories. This whisky will always be special to me for that.
Damn your comment right on time, sir! I am setting my very first bottle of whiskey and currently watching and reading reviews and descriptions of various scotch whiskies and probably will settle down with this 15 y.o Glenlivet. Right after decision was made I started thinking about what cigar should I buy to pair it with? Montecristo cigars are one of my favorites and her you are... :) But my concern is that Montecristos (white or classic) have more hazelnut/oak flavors with slightly sweet light aroma and it would not be enough for such whisky. Any other suggestions? Would it be too much if I pair it with something like "my father" cigars or Padron 64's which have more black pepper bite and deep dry fruits notes?
@@ArtemLokhovitskiy when pairing cigars with whiskey you can always choose to either pick one that compliments the flavor, or one that contrasts. Both are good in my opinion.
Purchased a bottle of this based on this review. Have to say it's really a great whisky. It has a great nose, I often just smell it for quite a while. For me, what strikes me is how smooth it goes down. Will be buying another bottle for sure.
Horst, I just finished my bottle that I treated myself to last Christmas, was a bit expensive ~ $85 USD. I love this 15 yr old Glen Livet, love the Almond and vanilla aromas. I have yet to pull the trigger on your favorite 18 year old Glen Livet, it has gotten way to expensive here in the states for~$137 USD per bottle, out of my price range!
I just received a bottle as a gift from a damn good man I must say. Wow! I’ve never had a bottle of scotch. I decided to do as this gentleman has in his video and copy his method of tasting. Lol! This sure beats the hell outta some good ole Jack Daniels!! Man! I can’t believe what I have been missing!
I drank my last sip of Jack Daniels 9 years ago. I don't mind having JD Honey, but I'll never touch the Old No. 7 again.. I thought it was THE American whiskey until I tried Jim Beam and Maker's Mark. Fine fine whiskeys there...
Bought a bottle yesterday, tasting it now. Gotta say the difference between this and the 12 is pretty noticeable. A lot more oaky, gummy, and full, compared to 12 which is light and peachy. Overall, fairly pleased. Can't wait to try out the 18!
For a 15 yr old single malt its still quite a good price, but its creeping up. I wish that glenlivet would put this out at least 43%. By the way Horst your last video of this whisky was around 8 years ago.
This is so far my favorite whisky (I'm still a relative newbie though with whisky). Also a fan of Glenmorangie Quinta Ruban but the flavors and complexity of the Glenlivet 15 is better to me being less peaty
The first thing I did was smell the cork on opening my bottle of this, so think I'm doing something right. I'm hardly an expert, but I did enjoy my bottle of this 15 this year better than the one I bought last year at this time. The one last year I remember thinking was too sweet and cheap tasting. Still don't know if it is possible that the exact same kind can taste so much different bought one year later, but it does to me and am enjoying it this time!
Not overly keen on this one, the nose better than the taste which had a slight bitter edge on it, the glenfiddich 15 had a similar taste but not the bitter edge and fuller and round taste, defo better in my opinion..
the beast Here in Poland it is about 35€ and for me this one is better than a 12yo, although the price is similar, so just go for the 15yo. You won’t be disappointed 😁
Interesting that this is an old bottle he has gone back to…I first tasted this 8 yrs ago and it was outstanding. I bought half a dozen bottles at £32 each 4 yrs ago and it wasn’t comparable to the previous incarnation. So as I continue to learn - not all batches are created equal. Maybe age statement is where it’s at in that case….

The relevancy of information and comprehensive nature of Herr Luening's reviews remain unsurpassed. Danke mein Herr.
Definitely my favorite of the 12, 15, and 18. I am just about to settle down to a glass of this with a montecristo cigar. Life is sweet!

@@ETS186 JD Fire is a guilty pleasure. I've never tried honey but apple is horrible. JD and coke is still a classic though.
Dear Horst, thank you for this stunning review. Glenlivet 15 is an interesting stuff.

I tasted it for the first time tonight, and I like it very much.
My favorite Glenlivet for years!
Just opened it up. Very nice smooth but spicey Whisky. Very nice. I Like the Gelnlivet Whisky's a lot. Thanks for this review! Cheers from Holland.

fantastic expression from The Glenlivet.
Love Horst and his videos!
My wallet is not happy thou :D
This scotch with a delicious Maduro cigar like the Wiseman or Flor de las Antillas is like chocolate cake and vanilla ice cream. Lovely taste.
Drinking some, now. So smooth.
Nice review Sir, cheers.
Thanks Horst
Love the 14, 15 and 18 Glenlivet
Just bought a bottle, my very first bottle of any whiskey for wedding on 8/16/2020. I very rarely drink tho, lol
My favorite
Nice review.
15 is great
However the 14 cognac cask is the best imo
Cheers!!!!
Superb review, regal!
4:21 for some reason totally made me think of Robert California and something he would do
Carrying a bottle of this 15 miles into the North Cascades tomorrow.
A nice one. A decent deal when it goes on sale.
So, the caskets are made of European Oak?
Good review
thanks for the learning lesson :)

Ralfy had another take on this. Very interesting as he downgraded an earlier high mark for this whisky. Bad batch maybe, idk.
I very much doubt it was a bad batch. Different personalities and preferences that's all.

Do you think there is a big difference to the 18 year old?
Dear Horst, can you please make an English video about the Corona crisis where you share you thoughts about it?
P//MBECH lol why? He’s a review channel. Nothing to do with coronavirus.....
Not my cup of tea, the balance is bad.
You don’t know nothing about scotch
