It's so tempting to take short cuts with a piece like this, but this video is a good illustration of why it's best to take your time and do it right the first time. Excellent result and a beautiful piece. Thanks for sharing this one.
This was, and is, my favorite weapon from d2. There are others guns that look cool, but this was my first exotic gun. It may not be powerful in the meta but it has a place in my heart. Seeing it done true justice by you was great.
Peanut Hello there Sir. Thank you for those kind words😇 I do love every aspect of this propmaking, and the video making to. So it makes me happy that it came across😁 Have a great one Sir, cheers
I’d love to see more destiny builds this is so good! Maybe a large scale build? Like a recluse or a maybe a huge build like a beloved or a gnawing hung? I’m sure it would be expensive though.
Hello there Mr. Miller😁 Thank you so much for that😉 And yes, all good choices👌 I would love to do the "Beloved" as I have yet to make a big sniper style prop. Will see😉 Have a good one, cheers
Golden makes a really nice fluid acrylic for a realistic gold color and you could also try Dawler Rowney fluid acrylics, or Jacquard metalic acrylic. When you're doing a rattle can on something like that from Krylon, Rustoleum, etc, you want to do it in multiple super light coats. Literally coat it as light as possible maybe warm the can under water before applying, and shake it really good, but try not to shake the can above the project where nozzle tip build up can drip down. Like the airbrush you also have to mind keeping the can nozzle clean, a dry cloth will work for spray can, or if it gets bad run a solvent over it like paint thinner. Spray can is thicker and it will build up very quickly, you gotta try to keep the build up from blasting on to the work area or it will shoot out spotty lumps. The enamels are probably good if you can get the right colors, but with super fine details like this you really have to work at getting the perfect viscosity, so it will be very fluid, but not runny or overly wet when it is applied. Multiple layers of very thin coats will take a long time, but it will achieve the highest quality as long as you know when to stop. Every color is different as the pigments are different, so it takes trial and error. Also the various solvents are gonna be different, some dry quicker than others, leave oily residue behind, etc. Excellent work on this Sunshot!!
Really nice work and finish. The Sunshot is one of my favorite pistols from Destiny too... the design is so alien, yet has a stunning elegance, adding to it's uniqueness. Also, you sure have dedication with all that sanding/filling.
Prop Rocks Thank you Mr. Prop Rocks;) And yes, the sanding filling realy tested my patience on this one. But I did a lot of minor mistakes, so I had to fix them. Worth it in the end.
@@PropsNstuff Yes, definitely worth it in the end because now you get to brag about such a cool prop! :D I'm kidding about the bragging part... it is a very nice display piece.
I watch this video yesterday, i inmediatly called a friend who has a 3d printer and now he is printing it for me, i will do all the assembly and paint job. can you put the exact list of colors that do you use in this prop? it will be a huuuge help, i'm totally new on this greetings from Chile, and thanx to motivated me to start in this
Like your techniques, I use a lot of the same methods. I happened on this video at the same time I'm finishing Thorn - Destiny 2 and Unkempt Harold - Borderlands 3
I’d really appreciate a video on the whole process of finding the file/files what you do to save them and putting them on a usb …..basically the whole process from finding a file to pressing print….I’m thinking of taking the jump in printing, but not being a 3D modeller I always just thought it was all too complicated, but you’ve shown that there are great files out there. So please consider a TOTAL beginner guide. Thank you
Hello again Mr. Chris😉 Yes, that's an excellent idea for sure. I do have a lot of projects I wanna share going forward. But I feel my strength and passion is more in the preparation, painting and adding that little extra details. Sometimes I'll share the slicing, setup, printing process etc. But there is a lot of really good videos out there on that already. And that's the people I try and learn from. So for now at least, I'll stick with making stuff I love, and hope it helps or inspires fellow hobbyists. I really appreciate the feedback and idea😉 Have a good one Sir, Cheers😉
For your primer or barrier coat you may want to try an epoxy. Light coats are key and you may want to give it like 1-2 hours cure between till you have a solid coat. Your enamels are perfectly fine though for the top coats though as epoxy isn’t great for topcoats as it oxidizes over time and can either yellow or powder.
cool. But in my opinion, for a correct and correct connection, it was necessary to provide pins and mating holes on the details, then there will be no displacement during gluing)
Hey! I´m looking into starting with 3D printing mainly to print my own props and statues in very high detail. After seeing reviews I would conclude that a resin printer would be the best way to go. I see that you work with a PLA printer for your props. Wouldn´t a resin be a lot easier to work for way for more detail and less body work?
Would you mind telling me what 3d printer, air brush etc., equipment you use? I want to start making destiny guns for my gaming room just like this and am trying to figure out what equipment to get. Any help would be appreciated. This was great, so hoping to replicate. Thanks!!!! And great video!

the lore of this gun ive always thought it was something cabal, like the oil look on the gun. from the almighty with an entire sun put into the gun. but turns out its just a self res warlocks pocket rocket
Hey there😉 I'm sorry but I just don't remember?.......It's so long ago. And I've acquired new types of printers since then. If I had to guess. I bet I printed them separately, just flat on the print bed. with a brim on the outside, just to prevent warping. Good luck with your build😉 Cheers
@@PropsNstuff thanks for the reply! apparently i have to print it on the side, it may have stringing between the holes it its the closest that i can have to your build!
Hello Mr. Bales:) Yes, all very good choices! Been wanting to do a slightly alternative version of the Thorn for a while now. Got some sketches down in my book, so maybe soon....Have a great one, cheers
Hello Hells Illusions😁 Well, I did this one only using a Dremel 3D45. Older model with a small print volume. But it did the job. Today however. I would go for a bigger resin printer like the Elegoo Saturn when it comes to mid size prop like these. If you combine that with a larger FDM printer. Then I guess you could make whatever you want. Big, small, detailed, etc. Thats what I hope to have by the end of this month. Happy "3D printer" hunting Sir👍 Cheers

@@PropsNstuff Yeah I wanted to try and make this on my own and I couldn't really see the labels and the names of the products of the stuff you were using and if you could that would be a big help
@@ultimatefox1734 Hey, I'm currently doing this prop as well and I've already printed the parts. The paint is what I need and looking at the video yeah you can't see. But looking at the numbers and brand I found out that the paints are searchable in amazon. Like that blue is a Tamiya metallic blue x-13, and the purple is x-15 and so on.
