  • We had six library CDs in the disk changer when it decided it no longer liked us. The lights were on, but pushing any button combination would not let any CDs out of its captive grip. I got the CD changer out and tried to repair it using other videos here, but my larger fingers and mechanical ineptitude precluded any success in that arena. However, I did purchase a used CD changer on eBay and this video shows how to remove and reinstall the CD changer in a 2006 GMC Yukon Denali.

@@mooring10 Great video... Was there any thef-lock code you needed for the CD changer to work?... (I keep reading that it needs to be reprogrammed by the dealer)???

Very good video. Is there a way to remove the CD changer for something else? I was thinking of replacing the radio display with another system and wasn't sure if the CD changer would work with the newer system. Thank you for the video.

My question is can I replace the 6 cd changer with a modern radio that supports bluetooth, mp3 player, aux audio port, usb ports, charging ports, and a cd changer - all through the existing radio unit at the top of the console (not where the 6 cd changer resides)? I have a 2004 denali and really wonder how I can get at least the bluetooth and aux capability in the vehicle without doing much in the way of modifications. Don't really need a 6 cd changer these days.

no you can not it requires a special port for sending audio to radio above so I wouldn't work

does the CD changer actually play the CDs or does it just act as storage? if it plays cds then theoretically you can just tap into its audio output

So - how did you get the CDs out?

    • @mooring10

Ended up breaking the old unit apart to get them out. I tried to take it apart very slowly, but a couple very small springs cane flying out and I realized I didn’t know where they cane from which in turns meant there was no way I would be able to put Humpty Dumpty back together again. So, tour it apart recklessly and returned the CDs to the library albeit a few weeks late!

The top popped right off the unit for me just used a flat screwdriver to pop it off.

I think it means your player is toast and you need a replacement unit. I had to take my player apart and forcibly remove the CDs that were still in the player. Broke parts as I removed the CDs.

Tyler Sullivan honestly, I have no idea. Would have to check with a GMC guy I would guess or Best Buy installers.

I took the old CD change apart thinking I might be able to fix it. After I got it mostly apart, I forced the CDs out of the stack. There are several very small springs that need to be put back during reassembly--I was unable to reassemble correctly and I broke one of the springs.

I have a gmc denali 2002 and recently the CD player will no longer work. So I bought a more recent CD player thats from 2006 but it still won't work. Any ideas as to why that is?

may have something to do with the firmware in the radio, take it to your local gm dealer, I replaced a radio and had to take it the dealership to get unlocked and they put the firmware that came with the factory radio which was I believe uq1 or something along the lines
