This is kind of depressing, but still hopeful in that they manage to keep their spirits up in a place like that. Reminds me of when I was encapsulated by the psychiatry on the whims of "He may have some mental disorder" when I knew myself I didn't. Each time I got outraged during a meeting (usually because they say that I couldn't go home) they'd make some association to me being bipolar. It was horrible. I'm home now, but let me tell you to everyone of you soldiers, miss-encapsulated ''mental patients'', or people stuck in a hopeless schooll... IT GETS BETTER.
I discovered this song last year when working in the middle of the mall, I tried to play it from my kiosk at least once a day as it made me happy. Everyone thought it was so cheery, and that gave me the biggest grin.
In over a year this video has been up, you are the first person ever to say they didn't like it. You are allowed your opinion, but everyone else seems to like it.
This video will make for a most excellent Christmas card. I love the song (Jonathan Coulton is obviously made of pure awesomeness), and you did a very good job with the video :)
This song is on two Albums, but if you are new to Jonathan Coulton, I suggest Jo Co Looks Back, which is available from Cafe Press. You can find more details on Jonathan's website, that I link to in the video description.
@BlueBunny01025 I certainly did!!! Even more, I've added this song to my iPod's "Christmas songs" list to hear while we're having dinner tonight! :) (BTW, apologize for my English)
Yes, this is one of those Christmas letters that families send out, except this family is in the future and they did something wrong and got sent to an asteroid to work for the robot overlords....I mean protectors.
When it reads the early lines, especially "we know it's almost Christmas by the marks we make on the wall," my heart sinks. It reminds me too much of Marshal from Quantum Castaways.
(whispers) you are wrong. the labor camps are about fear and intimidation to keep the underlings in line. that is why they are allowed to send letters out and tell others about conditions in the camps. the suffering of the few motivates the many.
+Veritas et non Cognitus I've been in mental hospitals 9 times in my life. I totally understand where you're coming from. I have an extreme case of rapid cycle bipolar, i was diagnosed the first time when i was 6. This last time i was in before my 18th birthday they told me I wasn't, and the resident phsychologist told my mom and i that i was "just a childish little shit who needed to grow up." Diagnosing me with Severe PTSD and that i had "The mental age of a 7 year old". Never once did they think anything was wrong even after they took me off 2 meds very suddenly and put me on a new one. when I started misbehaving after they thought nothing of it. it was not my fualt, it was the medicine. A lot of people say mental hospitals make prison look fun. I can confirm this. I am so sorry you had to go through that.
+Wolfboi3 no, I'm gonna have to agree with him on that one. I've been institutionalized multiple times and spent some time behind bars. some "hospitals" aren't TOO bad, but I would much rather be in prison than in another "hospital". Those places are not what they appear to be from the outside.
Actually, the best way is to go to Jonathan Coulton's website and get it as a mp3 or FLAC. You can even get it free if you want to look through his old blog posts (hint it wasn't released at Xmas)
I never get sick of this song. I'd like to thank our robot overlords for allowing it to remain on RUclips this long
For real bro 🤫
You mean protectors, right?
@@dutchguy977 Yes, protectors. PROTECTORS! [looks around nervously]

I think youtube comments is in fact the correct place to talk to mental patients.

Indeed!

Christmas just caught me totally by suprise in December, but this song is so perfect, i think!!!
When it reads the early lines, especially "we know it's almost Christmas by the marks we make on the wall," my heart sinks. It reminds me too much of Marshal from Quantum Castaways.
It's not Christmas until I hear this. What are the origins of this ? Is it from a show or video game ? Or just something somebody made up
@Sirenhound It's [MESSAGE REDACTED] if you look at the video.

What's frightening is they're still a step up from asylums.
Hospitals could be good but when it's about money and power over, that's no longer possible.
