How many loads are you doing per week? Ive heard a few drivers saying there's a lot of short hauls. Thank you for the information, stay safe out there.
dude my current company i work and mind you its local there is always an issue with our trailers. flat tires, lights out etc. and then they expect you to just take it if its on bad shape. so half the time i end up having to switch to a different trailer and waste time at the yard because the shop can't fix anything we tag out.
I've worked for Covenant Transport for 9 months and just got my application to Martin approved yesterday. Not happy to hear they use omnitracs thats what we have here and it does suck but I'm used to it and have a Rand McNally tablet backup GPS plus Trucker Path on my phone which is what I used before getting the GPS. I've had them freeze, crash, refuse to restart or start at all and randomly restart in the middle of the city.. No fridge is different but not a big deal. I just need the truck to run. I've had 4 trucks in 9 months and my current one is back at the dealership while I sit here getting 50 bucks after every 24 hours of shop detention. Well I will on payday if I remind them. If you don't ask for it they don't give it. When I started and my first two trucks went in the shop I didn't know you were supposed to get $50 per 24 hours in the shopand didn't ask for it. I'm so over it here. Tired of no communication, tired of waiting up to 6 hours for a load sometimes longer, tired of my trucks falling apart and being nasty af. And if you send me to recover a truck that's sitting at a dealer "fixed" while mines in the shop and I tell you hey, tires are sh1t, lots of rust on many parts, inspection sticker missing, fluids are low, engine sounds sus, mattresses are worst I've seen, and you tell me nothing you can do about the mattresses now call breakdown and get that stuff taken care of and get rolling. Then fight me over tires rejecting the photos the shop sent when you respond 2 hour later making them retake and waiting another 2 hours to respond. After they finally approved them and the shop got them on I'd been sitting in the shop bay from 1130 to 1800. Finally get a load, run from PA to IN. Supposed to meet another truck to repower another load. Now I got 3 blown bulbs. I try to swap out myself and doesn't work. I'm at a pilot and my company won't work with them they want me to go to a TA but its dark so they get a guy to come to me. He shows up 2 hours later and tells me those bulbs that are blown aren't supposed to be on. I show him how they're on at the other side of the truck... he says ok and pulls out two other bulbs not the ones I indicated. I again argue for the other bulbs. He finally gets it in between vapes and takes the new bulbs I couldn't get to work and does the same thing I'd already done. Obviously nothing happens so he says he has to make a call and gets back in his truck. Comes back over starts messing with the fuses nothing happens or changes so he gives up tells me since 3 bulbs blew in his opinion a circuit board in the headlight assembly is fried and I need it replaced there's nothing he can do. He says I'm still d.o.t. legal which I have extreme doubts about. So back on the phone I go. I message fleet team with the update and call breakdown again to wait on hold for another 40 minutes. After I explain everything again and the new developments (you have to tell the whole story every time you call they have no idea what your problem is even though you explained it to 1 or 2 people already depending how many times you had to call) they say I'm not legal and shut down for the night and go to the closest TA in the daylight. I find the location thanks to my GPS and call them to ask for wait times. He says he can get me in about noon. Now I'm a team driver and my recent and 3rd co driver is female. So when she's in the sleeper I have to stay in the front. I sat in that drivers seat for 13 and a half of my 14 hours waiting out the night and got us to the TA right before my clock ran out. Its about 0745 or so and I check in right away so I don't get pushed further down the line. New eta when they can look at the truck, 1900 tonight. We tell fleet team and they give their usual response "call breakdown" and get a new location. So first I call the next closest TA he says they got no techs at all and are turning trucks away. Great. Somewhere in the middle of this they had taken us off the load so we're back to sitting not getting paid anything. Nothing for waiting and nothing for driving to these shops. So they decide to make an exception and send us to a loves that says they only have a 4 hour wait. We get there, check in and wait and wait and wait. My partner checks back and they say oh we only have one mechanic today we're not even looking at vehicles with your type of issues today. You've got to be fin kidding me. So we call breakdown again. This person says idk why you went to a shop in the first place this issue can only be fixed at a dealership. OMFG. They say they have two other recovery options for us while this truck we just freaking picked up from a dealership a couple days ago goes back to a dealership. So we decide on a location to go to but its night, and we can't drive. By the time the morning comes around we explain whats going on to the day crew who says oh no thats incorrect there are no recoveries in this region at all right now. Fine whatever we go from IN to IL where the dealer is. Guess what there IS another truck there. The level of incompetence, idiocy, I can't take it anymore. Idk why I just told you all this. If you made it this far thanks for listening to my rant lol. If this is how trucking is at every company then maybe I need to find a new path because a fat paycheck one week doesn't make up for nothing the next two I can't keep doing this.
Sheesh you been through a lot! I thought I was goin through a lot with my last company ! I went through 5 trucks with my last company. Yeah ofcourse I’d read the whole thing you took the time out to watch and comment ! But with marten they do a 30 day safety inspection to make sure you really won’t have any break downs and if you do they pay I think 280 or 260 for break down pay for 24 hrs.
@@TheMoeeShow Awesome thanks that's my main concern. I just want the truck to not be disgusting and to be able to run consistent miles. Home time is not a big deal I just need to run. I haven't set up my orientation yet but I hope to jump over middle of next month.

A lot of the doglegged wagons are because drivers hitting curbs etc and the carriers often don’t pay to have them aligned, just lubed, greased and repaired as needed.
i don't think they shave miles off. some companies pay Address to Address, and others pay practical miles. but not everyone pays for practical miles. but either way your still making damn good money instead of working some minimum wage job.

At Covenant I've always seen the option in our omnitracs but they told us not to use it unless its a situation where we were out of hours and security or someone like that forced us to move. In my lowly 9 months experience I haven't touched it once.
