Fascinating video you do such a wonderful job. Slowing it down to let us actually see what your hand is doing. Your explanations are spot on. I appreciate what you're doing and sharing your knowledge.
Thanks for the visuals Mickey! For as long as I've been bowling, the one thing that has fascinated me is the bowling release. What one person thinks is staying behind the ball may look totally different on video. You seem to have a decent amount of axis rotation which gives the illusion of your fingers coming off the side of the ball with all 3 releases. Your release is consistent and unique to you and I again appreciate the slo-mo. I've studied soooo many different hand releases/positions that I have never established my own personal or base release, and then build from there. I have certain ways that when I roll the ball, it feels most comfortable, but not always the release for that shot. When your dad used to work with me at Shrader, I rolled the ball the easiest, the most comfortable, and probably the best that I can remember. I miss those times and wish I could get back to that delivery. One day I'll catch back up with you guys here in Richmond. Keep providing this great content and I wish you nothing but success bro.
In 5 minutes I effectively learned more about releasing the ball then I have in all of my years of instruction. I enjoyed the video so much that I went to bowlifi.com and ordered 7 jersey's for my whole team.
I am glad you were able to get something positive out of Bowling Science! Thank you soooo much for the support! Send me a pic on facebook when you all get your jerseys in...
@@BowlingScience Mikey, I love your videos. I've learned a lot from you. I wanted to ask your thoughts on something. Do you think 20 years of muscle memory can be overcome to learn proper release for more revs and better roll on the backend and through the pins? Is staying inside the ball something that you either can, or can't do? Because I certainly can't, and I'm just wondering if I can actually learn how to do that, or if I would be better off just working with what I can do. Thanks!
Its amazing how many bowlers refuse to change their hand positions, most would rather change balls and keep everything else, they have no idea how I make one ball do so many different things.... thanks. Great video...
Mikey, you are the man. Haven't had a chance to actually try these but I will tomorrow. Been looking for this type of explanation for a long time. Will let you know how it goes!
Great video! I'm a huge fan of using the mote open hand position when I get a funky over-under reaction. It changes the breakpoint just enough to eliminate that over-under and give me something consistent to work with.
Definitely a sign of an advanced bowler. At best I'm able to use 2 different hand positions, otherwise I risk losing focus on being consistent the release it self... 🎳
Yeah this is valuable info thanks i will definitely start practicing these techniques so i can get the most effective versatility out of each and every ball i own before thinking about changing balls change hand positions and if all that is still too weak then maybe ball up or ball down for more or less aggressive coverstock and then repeat this process of hand positions on each ball that way i can get a true understanding of what each ball is capable of doing this is some really great info maybe ill become a better bowler from this.
@@BowlingScience really good too know i always wondered what seperates them apart from us amateurs. I accidentally bowled on the us open pattern at my local bowling alley they had a tournament the night before but man this was the flattest slickest oil pattern ive ever bowled on i mean my ball could not hook at all no matter what i did it was like bowling back in the fifties when everyone threw a straight ball i couldnt bowl higher then a 150 i was so dissapointed in myself i havent been back since it was degrading too me as a bowler but its my fault for not challenging myself people dont understand these pros are way better then we give them credit but most amateurs never bowl on heavy oil so they think there an amazing bowler on house shot but as soon as you throw them on oil there throw it out to the 5 board and that ball keeps going straight in the gutter. So basically what im saying is if i knew these hand positions i possibly could have bowled a 160-180 on the us open pattern but then again i dont have the right balls i only own a black widow original pearl and storm surelock which i found out storm balls are meant to go 100 ft down lane then snap hard in the backend
At 46 I've tried many different releases and after tanking from 206 to 180 I finally decided to just do what's comfortable. I use a modified suitcase and make small adjustments from there. Any layout advice for this style? Thank you!
It's just wasted energy. It makes no difference if your wrist is cocked throughout the swing as long as you can bring it back before the release. It's easiest to bring your wrist forward a bit as the ball is approaching the height of the backswing where its energy is lowest (it almost feels weightless).
Great stuff! Even though Im a one handed thumbless bowler, I can use some of this info! BTW I don't own any Radical balls, however, I am planing to get the Radical Results!
This is the perfect follow-up video to the last one! Great slow motion camera work! I'd also like to contact you directly if possible, I have a question about a jersey design. Thanks!
So...just delete the last video entirely. Compared to the quality of this one, it just sucks! This is so much better. Now, can you change your rotation angle to control motion as well? My rotation angle is similar to yours and I have trouble changing it to control the mid lane on certain conditions, which results in some pretty tight conditions.
I learned more in 5 minutes watching this video than I have in 4 years of bowling. THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO!
30 years!
10 years
Perfect! You gave me just what I asked for. Close up slow motion of the three releases. Great job! Look forward to more.
Good video Mr dred.
Love me some slow mo release vids! Anyone else agree?

Love how your videos are broken down and explaining everything through visual slow mo

Thank you. Im a 2 finger bandit. But this vid really made me think of stuff i need to practice on. Appreciate it man
2 cool videos love the slow mo and overlay
Cinematography game on point!!
Great videos. I can’t remember who told me about the hand positions but I’ve used them for a long time

Nice camera angles. Great job!
Dude I'm seriously diggin these vids!

Thank you so much for this video. I picked up a few more revs !!
Thank you for this, will watch it dozens of times.
I like the slow motion video! Great info and thank you 🙏🏼
Incredible camera work and explanation/ demonstration
awesomeness! been working o this myself! with both my 2 handed style and 1 handed
Thank you for this video!!!
Great Job, Thoroughly enjoyed the slow motion video! So whats next? Building revs?
Great stuff bro
great camera angles and framing!!!!!!
Thank you! I try to bring over some techniques from film school..
Great video. How do you get your thumb out first
Your video presentation editing And explanation is excellent Exceptional job.
Great channel and videos! I just took up bowling about 3 weeks ago. Any advice on how to progress from a beginner polyester ball to a reactive ball?

Great gameplan! That's how the pros do it!

How do you break your wrist and then load up?
I like your videos could you please show starting point, what board to break point. Your foot location at start. To get a better idea of angle played.
How about show slow bowling on back flip ? I can do back flip and spinner
This video turned a ball I didn’t like to one i love
Great Info.
I dig it!
Is your release a yo-yo release or is this a standard tweener release and you’re naturally creating a cranker rev rate?
Why break the wrist in the downswing instead of keeping it loaded throughout the swing?
It's just wasted energy. It makes no difference if your wrist is cocked throughout the swing as long as you can bring it back before the release. It's easiest to bring your wrist forward a bit as the ball is approaching the height of the backswing where its energy is lowest (it almost feels weightless).
Grip pressure. Pinel is a stickler about grip pressure and for good reason.
Gravity is the dominant force on the ball. I try not to squeeze or strain muscles to fight that.
And a loose wrist allows the hand to move faster. It does matter if you are squeezing in The swing.

Hit me up on Facebook Messenger... Mikey Pinel is the name.
@@BowlingScience Perfect, thank you!
what camera do you use to record these
Sony FS5 mkii Cinema Camera
You know, this video also allows me to understand better what Mo means by "turn, not lift" the ball.
저바지로 대단하네요
Which position do you use for your straight ball release for spares?
The suitcase!
It DID!
Mike are you Mo's son?
So...just delete the last video entirely. Compared to the quality of this one, it just sucks! This is so much better.

I like both, please don't delete.
tht exactly what i needed 2 see great job on both videos you explain it where beginner's could understand thx u for tht
How can you bowl in those tight jeans lol
Because he keeps his balls on the lanes.
