Bummed you aren't doing as many video reviews anymore but I respect where you're coming from. Wish you all the best and I'm thankful you're still contributing to the community.
You're my favourite reviewer and I look for your vidoes first. I hope you continue to do these! I dont really have time for podcasts, so I prefer specific reviews.
I always get excited when I see a new video from you! Our tastes usually align in some way and, if not, you've always got a well-spoken evaluation of each game. And then I learned that you trained as an artist and live in the PNW, which just makes my one-sided bond with you tighter. Love what you do! This is a game I've owned for a while but haven't gotten to the table. That will change.
Keep reviewing upper crust games like this one. I can toss a rock out the window and hit someone who 'knows' Pandemic Legacy. Besides, the Dice Tower Empire has the state of the common familiar BGG Hotness list Euro and the flashy thematic game covered well enough to make them unappealing. Just my point of view here, but I have been a long-time subscriber and feel that your reviews work best for me (maybe others, too!) when you are going off-path and looking at games that carry good complexity and a fair bit of heaviness that keep them relevant beyond the current convention season.
You are the first person to say this works with two players. I was interested in the game, but have avoided it because no one said it was any good with two including the designer when I asked him directly.
Drive Thru Games This was the consensus I read, and even bgg says 3-4. Usually, designers will push their game as viable at all player counts so I was a bit surprised when he wasn’t recommending it as a two player game. Unfortunately, while I am interested to look at it again, the game is now impossible find in Canada.
OK... I did a quick scan. Looks like new players playing with two can have a bit of a runaway leader problem. Because you have to watch which cards the other player is using and not get caught with your pants down if someone loads up a ton of military etc.. on a single turn. I can see that, and that actually happened at the end of our game, but I didn't see that as a "problem"... just poor observation (on my part as it turned out).
Great review and delighted to see you back with your new review/podcast format (focusing on games that you enjoyed). I prefer the game overview in this video (instead of a detailed play through) and I like how you seem to be focusing on the game experience aspect more than the rules explanation. Looking forward to the next video/podcast.
Did you ever get to play this two players with the expansion and bots? I considered getting this but still not sure how viable it is for 2 players. Would need base game + expansion which would be $100, so have to be careful it will actually work.
I've not played that game, but I know of it... I'd guess the answer would be "no", just because of the level of rules ... I don't know the right... rules variance(?)... number of rules exceptions. There aren't very many here, compared to a game like that.
You're my favorite reviewer Joel. Always happy to see a new game review.
Thank you Mario!
The boardgaming world needs you man ;). Good to have you back.
Thanks! I appreciate it.
Glad to see you back to reviewing! You are one of my favorite reviewers in the tabletop community.
Dr. Jimes Tooper Thank you Jimes. I appreciate it.

Haha. Thanks!
Great to see you back in the review space. Really missed your opinions even though I don't always agree with them I still find them very salient.
Thank you. I appreciate it.

Really? Why doesn't it work. It seemed perfectly fine to me. Definitely better with max players as I said though.

Welcome back...Billy would like to know, can you please do a comparison between this and Poo (the card game)? =)
I'll tell him tomorrow at game night.
Have you tried the official solo variant with the bots?
I have not. I forgot there was one actually. I knew about it a few weeks ago, but totally spaced that it existed. :)
You kick ass, and are my spirit animal. Keep doing what you're amazing at, good sir!
Would you compare do Labyrinth , the War on Terror ?
Doesn't compare to those at all I think.
its like
Pax Renaissance maybe?
